Black Lightning is new in line of DC superhero comic book characters. Season 1 just ended and after 13 episodes we can draw some conclusions about this show. Surprisingly when you compare it to other DC TV Shows like Arrow, The Flash, Heroes of Tomorrow, Supergirl, even though you will see strong resemblance to all of those uninspiring shows, Black Lightning brings something new to the table. At the center of the new story is a metahuman named Black Lightning, a hero who came from let's say "a time off" and returned to his heroic ways of beating up the bad guys. Metahumans are DC version of Mutants, people whose genetics became altered and they as a side effect gained some kind of super power.
Every one of these superheroes have a normal life, as you all know Clark Kent is a Journalist, Oliver Queen is rich, Bruce Wayne also, our hero Jefferson Pierce in Black Lightning is a normal high school principal in one of the most turbulent black communities in the city of New Orleans. This whole show is themed on black lives matter movement which brings a lot of issues black people in america have, which is an interesting aspect for this type of show to have. Everything is revolving around new drug called green light that makes everyone who use it very unstable, Black Lightning with the help of his family will try to stop the bad guys from gaining more power. Hip hop is also a big part of the show where in every action sequence you will hear some sick beat playing. If you're not a fan of superheroes you should probably skip this, if you occasionally like to watch this type of shows Black Lighting certainly has something new to offer. 8/10
