My Thoughts About Star Trek Discovery (no spoilers)

Review by @moon32walker · 3238d · of Star Trek: Discovery

Star Trek was always one of the most inspiring SF universes out there and so many generations grew up and expanded their imagination by watching Star Trek. There are countless scientists out there and every one of them will say to you that they love Star Trek and I'm sure it inspired them to pursue science. This is literally a fiction piece that is changing the world.

My Star Trek background: I watched every episode of every show and every movie, I played every Star Trek game out there, from Star Fleet Command, Star Trek: Armada, Elite Force and many others, and I can definitely call myself a Trekkie and can give an honest opinion about the new show.

So finally we have a new entry in the whole Star Trek franchise with ST: Discovery, and as always there are as many opinions on the show as there are stars in the night sky. Most of them are not satisfied, some love, some hate it, I very much like the first 3 episodes. Even though the story is happening before Captain Kirk and after Enterprise when StarFleet was in a war with Klingons, everything is brand new and shiny.

The way Klingons are portrayed in this is not for everyone's liking, for me personally there are no issues there, everything is on a high production level, there are specialists who were thinking about the new look for months and the final look is fine, how can anyone complain about that is beyond me.

The story revolves around Michael Burnham, a Vulkan trained starfleet officer who found herself in a tough situation very fast, she is played by excellent Sonequa Martin-Green, most of you know her as Sacha from the Walking Dead.

The whole story about Discovery was thought out as one continuous story arc, one very interesting I might add which brings many great moments. This new Star Trek is not as episodic as most of Star Trek was before, but as long as the story is interesting that is fine by me. So, should you watch it or not it is up to you, but if you are a trekkie this is a must watch, and ignore the bad reviews out there. I don't have a bad feeling about this.

I am a long time Trekkie (Not by choice, blame my Dad) but I am so far pleasantly impressed. Still seems to be true to the lore... My biggest criticism? SJW politics seems to be creeping into the story which sucks!
