Hustlers is a 2019 crime drama with a 1 hour, 50 minutes runtime. The movie was directed by Lorene Scafaria, an American screenwriter, playwright, actress, singer, and film director. The fact that it was directed by a woman seems rather fitting as there was a lot of female power play going on in the movie. Starring Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo, and Cardi B, Hustlers is a story about strippers and their work-life versus real life. It forces you to stop looking at strippers as just that but as real people who face real issues too. It also showcases the friendship and sisterhood between the ladies in ways that would warm any cold heart. It is worth noting that Hustlers is based on a true-life story.
Destiny (Constance Wu) is a stripper who is down on her luck and looking to make ends meet. She becomes friends with Ramona Vega (Jennifer Lopez) who is the highest-earning stripper at Moves, a strip club. Ramona teaches Constance to do what she does and soon the two become a very sexy, rather profession and formidable team. Everything is fine and dandy and cash keeps rolling in for the ladies until they lost clients massively as a result of the 2008 economic meltdown. To keep up their lifestyle and get their lives back, Ramona comes up with a very daring plan to fleece their rich clients, drugging them and maxing out their credit cards.
Constance and Ramona take in other ladies to make their operations smoother and form an incredible sisterhood in the process. Too many cooks spoil the broth though and soon they were in trouble because of a sloppy new girl. Despite the 76% google rating, this is a movie I enjoyed watching. I have seen Jennifer Lopez in many roles but this one was especially superb. She was totally awesome acting as a veteran stripper and it boggles the mind to know that she is 50 years old! What wouldn't I give to look that good at 50?! I do feel a special connection with her because we share the same birth date though:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
