Rampage was released in the cinemas today, 13th April, 2018. It starred the incredible Dwayne Johnson a.k.a. The Rock alongside Naomie Harris and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Rampage is a movie of the Fantasy/Science fiction genre.
Primatologist Davis Okoye, is a man who keeps people at a distance but shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, incredibly rare albino silverback gorilla who has been in his care since he rescued the young orphan from poachers. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with discredited geneticist, Kate Caldwell (Naomie Harris) to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
Dwayne Johnson, confirmed that he chose the name Davis Okoye for his character to honor the NFL football player, Christian Okoye and his Nigerian roots. He said "I wanted his last name to pay homage to one of my all time favorite NFL football players; the 'Nigerian Nightmare' Christian Okoye". Wowsers yeah?! I loved that!
This awesome movie is most likely gonna have ladies clinging to their partner's arm in the cinema, unconsciously digging in their nails as well, while the guys cheer on the fast paced, havoc wreaking action...lol. I saw the movie this morning at the Filmhouse Cinema, Ventura Mall, Samonda, Ibadan and it had me laughing ever so often at the amazing satire and humorous exchanges between the Rock and the Gorilla named George. It also had me cringing a lot at the horrifying demonstrations of the beasts; ever seen a Wolf with wings and spikes??? Darn it! This movie had it!! I. would score it A++ for visuals and cinematography. Watch the trailer here and tell me what you think...I thought it was absolutely fantastic!
