Last week was a little stressful because of all the work I had to do with a photo shoot, but after finishing with it I decided that today I wanted to watch a comedy movie to take a break from editing so much pictures, so I decided to look at some of the pages where I like to find movie recommendations and there was one that caught my attention immediately, at first I was struck by the cover and after reading a little about the movie I was definitely convinced, so today I want to talk about a movie called "Quiz Lady", let's start.

This movie released on September 9, 2023 is an American production that belongs to the comedy genre and in this new story we are presented with an interesting plot, here we will meet Anne, a girl who from a very young age liked to watch a television program and so she was growing up and becoming more fanatic of this program, After becoming an adult, Anne must join her sister to try to pay the debts that her mother has left and to make sure they do Anne's dog is kidnapped, so both girls must use the only thing they have at their disposal, Anne's ability with the TV show she is obsessed with.

Let's talk a little about what happens in the movie, it begins in 1996, here a little girl named Anne is watching a TV show about quiz (for those who do not know, it is a dynamic where the person who is asked the question must answer correctly and thus score points) and in the process that little Anne sees this program we can see the family problems she has at home, Her father asked her mother for a divorce, her mother is obsessed with gambling and always loses money and her sister is a dreamy girl, so the years go by and we see little Anne growing up and enjoying her favorite TV show.

Years have passed and we see an adult Anne, she works in a small office cubicle and doesn't seem to be very happy there, besides she doesn't have much relationship with the rest of her colleagues, so she seems not to be very happy with that workplace. Anne has a neighbor who seems to complain about anything that happens. Anne lives alone with her dog Linguini (who has been with her for about 20 years) who always accompanies her since she was little when it is time to watch her TV program and this day is no exception, Anne watches her program as usual and in this one there is a participant who has won the game about 73 times in a row, but Anne does not like him at all.

The next day while Anne was working she receives a call from the place where they take care of her mother and they inform her that she is no longer with them (as if she had died, but she has just run away with her boyfriend to Macao), so Anne goes to the place where they took care of her mother and also her sister arrives, who really has not been doing very well in life, so she asks Anne if she can stay with her, Anne hesitates, but accepts later. When it's time for Anne's favorite show, her sister observes how Anne answers perfectly every single question they ask in the show and tells her that she should participate, but Anne really doesn't feel confident about it, so her sister decides to record it while Anne doesn't realize it and upload it to the internet, where it goes viral and everyone calls Anne as "Quiz Lady".

Thanks to going viral, a guy that Anne's mother owes money to contacted her and told her that she should pay her mother's debt and to show how serious he was about it he kidnapped her dog, so if she decides to see him again, she must raise the money to do so. Anne doesn't know how to raise the money and her sister tells her that someone from the show called after they saw her video on the internet, so they want her to participate in some auditions to be on the show and although Anne refuses, it is the only option she has to rescue her dog, will she be able to overcome her fear and rescue her dog?

From this point I will talk about my opinion of the movie without any spoilers and I will do it starting with the story, I am going to be very honest, the beginning of the movie is very boring, I mean, we don't see something that calls much attention beyond a normal girl with a boring life and an obsession with a TV show, so I must say that it has a slow beginning, but after the plot starts to develop it really becomes more interesting, clearly it is not the most complex story, but it is a story that fulfills its function of entertaining.

At the beginning I mentioned that it is a comedy film and I would not know how to interpret the humor found here, I would say that it has certain aspects of black humor, also a very silly humor that does not make much sense and also an exaggerated humor with certain things, but really although it does not seem so, it was a very good combination to generate comedy in the film, I must clarify that perhaps at the beginning the comedy is not the strongest of the film, even I did not laugh until the middle of the film, where I consider that is when the really good in it begins both story, and comedy.

A very positive point that the film has is that, although from the beginning it seems a linear story, as it goes along they include certain themes, which somehow makes the story a little more complete and can connect with more people emotionally, because although it is a comedy film it has certain sensitive moments and I think it was good to incorporate it, because a story where comedy is the only thing you can find does not always work, so this film has different nuances to enjoy.

Finally I want to mention two interesting aspects, the first one is the special effects, those who reach this point may wonder why there would be special effects in a movie that seems to have nothing else beyond and the truth is that I was wondering it too, but there is a scene where everything is based on special effects and everything is really very well built, creating one of the funniest scenes in my opinion of the whole movie and the other thing I wanted to mention was the actresses who played the main characters, they really made excellent performances, to the point that I disliked them, hahaha, but that's good, it means that they were fully in the role.

La semana pasada fue un poco estresante por tanto trabajo que tuve que realizar con una sesión fotográfica, pero ya luego de terminar con ello decidí que hoy quería ver alguna película de comedia para tomarme un descanso de tanto editar fotografías, por lo que decidí buscar en algunas de las páginas donde me gusta encontrar recomendaciones de películas y hubo una que me llamó la atención inmediatamente, al principio me llamó la atención la portada y luego de leer un poco de qué iba la película me terminó convenciendo definitivamente, por lo que el día de hoy quiero hablarles de una película llamada “La reina de los concursos”, comencemos.

Esta película estrenada el 9 de septiembre del año 2023 es una producción estadounidense que pertenece al género de comedia y en esta nueva historia se nos presenta una trama interesante, aquí conoceremos a Anne, una chica que desde muy pequeña le gustaba ver un programa de televisión y así ella fue creciendo y volviéndose más fanática de este programa, luego de convertirse en una adulta, Anne debe unirse a su hermana para intentar pagar las deudas que su madre ha dejado y para asegurarse de que lo hagan el perro de Anne es secuestrado, por lo que ambas chicas deben usar lo único que tienen a su alcance, la habilidad de Anne con el programa de televisión del que está obsesionada.

Hablemos un poco de lo que sucede en la película, la misma comienza en el año 1996, aquí una pequeña niña llamad Anne está viendo un programa de televisión sobre quiz (para el que no lo sepa, se trata de una dinámica donde la persona a la que le hacen la pregunta debe responder correctamente y así sumar puntos) y en el proceso de que la pequeña Anne ve este programa podemos apreciar los problemas familiares que tiene en casa, su padre le pidió el divorcio a su madre, su madre es una obsesa con las apuestas y siempre pierde el dinero y su hermana es una chica soñadora, así transcurren los años y vemos a la pequeña Anne ir creciendo y disfrutando de su programa de televisión favorito.

Al día siguiente mientras Anne trabajaba recibe una llamada del sitio donde cuidan a su madre y le informan que ya no está con ellos (como si hubiese muerto, pero sólo se ha escapado con su novio a Macao), por lo que Anne se dirige al lugar donde cuidaban a su madre y también llega su hermana, a quien realmente no le ha ido muy bien en la vida, por lo que le pide a Anne si puede quedarse con ella, Anne duda, pero acepta luego. Cuando llega la hora del programa favorito de Anne, su hermana observa como Anne responde a la perfección cada una de las preguntas que hacen en el programa y le dice que debería participar, pero Anne realmente no se siente segura de ello, así su hermana decide grabarla mientras Anne no se da cuenta y subirlo a internet, donde se vuelve viral y todos llaman a Anne como “Quiz Lady”.

Gracias a hacerse viral, un sujeto al que la madre de Anne le debe dinero la contactó y le dijo que ella debía pagar la deuda de su madre y para demostrar lo en serio que estaba hablando secuestró a su perro, por lo que, si decide verlo de nuevo, debe reunir el dinero necesario para ello. Anne no sabe cómo reunir el dinero y su hermana le dice que alguien del programa llamó luego de que vieron su video en internet, por lo que quieren que ella participe en unas audiciones para estar en el programa y aunque Anne se niega, es la única opción que tiene para rescatar a su perro, ¿podrá superar su miedo y rescatar a su perro?

A partir de este punto hablaré sobre mi opinión de la película sin ningún spoiler y lo haré comenzando por la historia, les voy a ser muy honesto, el comienzo de la película es muy aburrido, quiero decir, no vemos algo que llame mucho la atención más allá de una chica normal con una vida aburrida y una obsesión con un programa de televisión, por lo que debo decir que tiene un comienzo lento, pero luego que la trama empieza a desarrollarse realmente resulta más interesante, claramente no es la historia más compleja, pero es una historia que cumple su función de entretener.

Al principio mencionaba que es una película de comedia y no sabría cómo interpretar el humor que se encuentra aquí, diría que tiene ciertos aspectos de humor negro, también un humor muy tonto de ese que no tiene mucho sentido y también un humor exagerado con ciertas cosas, pero realmente aunque no lo parezca, fue una muy buena combinación para generar comedia en la película, debo aclarar que quizás al principio la comedia no sea el fuerte de la película, incluso yo no me reí sino fue hasta la mitad de la película, donde considero que es cuando comienza lo realmente bueno en ella tanto de historia, como de comedia.

Un punto muy positivo que tiene la película es que, aunque desde un principio parece una historia lineal, mientras va transcurriendo van incluyendo ciertos temas, lo que de alguna manera hace que la historia sea un poco más completa y pueda llegar a conectar con más personas de manera emocional, porque aunque sea una película de comedia tiene ciertos momentos sensibles y me parece que fue bueno incorporarlo, porque una historia donde la comedia es lo único que puedes encontrar no siempre funciona, por lo que esta película tiene diferentes matices para disfrutar.

Por último quiero mencionar dos aspectos interesantes, el primero son los efectos especiales, los que lleguen a este punto se preguntarán que, para qué habrían efectos especiales en una película que parece no tener algo más allá y la verdad es que yo también me lo fuese preguntado, pero hay un escena donde todo se basa en efectos especiales y realmente está muy bien construido todo, creando una de las escenas más graciosas a mí parecer de toda la película y lo otro que quería mencionar era a las actrices que interpretaron a las protagonistas, realmente hicieron unas excelentes interpretaciones, hasta el punto que me caían mal, jajaja, pero eso es bueno, quiere decir que estaban de lleno en el papel.
