Greetings dear cinephile friends, how are you today? Today I had a somewhat heavy day so I wanted to relax watching a movie and the one I decided to see was a recommendation of a friend with whom I have been talking lately and who has the same guilty taste of watching cliché romantic movies that often end up making you cry, so clearly I had to see the movie she recommended me, haha, so, today I want to talk about a movie of more than a decade that is called "One Day", let's start with the review.

This British-American movie was released on August 19, 2011 and was adapted from a novel called "Homonym" published two years before the movie. The plot has a story that may be a bit similar to other romance stories, but the way it is told through the years gives it a difference. In this story we will meet two friends who have completely different personalities, but this makes them get along well and through the years they tell us how each one is developing in their lives and knowing a little of their meetings in common, it does not seem a very striking plot, but the fact of being a very realistic story is what catches, let's talk about it more in depth.

The first scene we are shown is our protagonist on July 15, 2006 and so we go back several years ago to July 15, 1988, we see some recent college graduates, where our protagonists Emma and Dexter meet (Although actually they had already met on another occasion), Dexter offers to accompany Emma to her house and they end up kissing and about to have sex, here we know a little about each other's personalities, they don't end up having sex, but they decide that they could be friends.

So we move forward a year, July 15, 1989, Dexter helps with Emma's move to London, who thinks that there she can make her way to be what she really wants to be, a writer, while Dexter must take a flight that same day to India, saying goodbye to each other and promising to write letters to each other and hoping that each one has an incredible life. Fast forward one more year, 1990 and Emma is working in a Mexican restaurant, where we see that she is not really happy and has a rather pessimistic attitude, seeing that she has not made any progress since she arrived in London, and on the other hand Dexter is a teacher in Paris and seems to be quite happy there.

July 15, 1991 Emma and Dexter meet and Dexter advises her that she should quit her job, he really knows that it does not make her happy and that it is not what she would have wanted some years ago, so he invites her to take a vacation, which arrives a year later in 1992, both vacation in France and decide to set some rules, the first is not to sleep in the same room, the second is not to flirt with each other and finally they must not see each other naked, rules that end up breaking one by one and showing signs that both like each other, but Dexter says he is not ready for the kind of relationship that Emma is looking for, so the conversation ends there. And so little by little we will advance through the years and get to know Emma and Dexter's paths.

I want to start my opinion talking about the story, I want to say that from the beginning it was not calling my attention, the reason was how little they told about each year that passed, so at first I felt that they were moving too fast and they did not tell me enough to get attached to the main characters, but as the film progressed and I finished the movie I really liked the way the story is told, because I understood that these small fragments are part of a whole and this made the film have another sense after finishing, so I really ended up loving the whole story and the final result that is in this one.

It is normal to find in romance stories that the personalities of the characters are quite different for whatever reason and just this makes there is a balance, but in this film what caught my attention regarding their personalities was the development that keeps each one, because although we know their version of 1988, remember that we move forward to 2006, so we can certainly see a change in these and I would say that it is something that is not appreciated in other similar stories, so I thought it was an excellent way to keep the attention in the film, at least with me it worked.

What surprised me most about this film is the realistic aspect of how year after year our protagonists change, thus generating a story that really has an impact, because although I am one of those who like romantic stories all fantasies, this is not so, here is a story that could perfectly be told by anyone we know or even by ourselves, so it is a way to connect emotionally speaking and this seemed beautiful to me, the interpretation of life itself in a film and thus leaving many things to the reflection of fate itself, opportunities and time.

I'm not going to talk about what happens at the end, I really wish you can see for yourselves if my review makes the film end up catching your attention, but I do want to comment on the fact that the ending left me with a strange taste in my mouth, I mean, above I commented that I liked it and it certainly did, but it also left me thinking a bit and the reason why I say I liked it is because of what I commented about it being a very real story and that's how life itself feels, a curious feeling that maybe you don't know how to describe at all, but there it is, I hope you can understand what I meant.

Finally, I just want to say that I recommend the movie without a doubt, it is something that I would see again at any other time and it is not something that says a lot about movies of this style, so it is really worth it and also say that I loved the performance of both protagonists, they really made me feel every emotion that each one experienced and without more to say I say goodbye, I hope you found the review quite interesting and motivates you to see the movie. Hoy tuve un día algo pesado por lo que quise relajarme viendo una película y la que decidí ver fue una recomendación de una amiga con la que he estado hablando últimamente y quien tiene el mismo gusto culposo de ver películas románticas cliché y que en muchas ocasiones terminan haciendo llorar, por lo que claramente tenía que ver la película que me recomendó, jaja, así que, el día de hoy quiero hablarles de una película de más de una década que lleva por nombre “Siempre el mismo día”, empecemos con la reseña.

Esta película británico-estadounidense se estrenó el 19 de agosto del año 2011 y fue adaptada de una novela llamada “Homónima” publicada dos años antes de la película. La trama tiene una historia que quizás sea un poco similar a otras historias de romance, pero la manera en cómo es contada a través de los años le da una diferencia. En esta historia conoceremos a dos amigos quienes poseen unas personalidades completamente diferente, pero esto hace que se lleven bien y a través de los años nos cuentan cómo cada uno se va desenvolviendo en su vida y conociendo un poco de sus reuniones en común, no parece una trama muy llamativa, pero el hecho de ser una historia muy realista es lo que atrapa, hablemos de ella más a profundidad.

La primera escena que se nos muestra es a nuestra protagonista un 15 de julio del 2006 y así retrocedemos varios años atrás hasta el 15 de julio del 1988, vemos a unos recién graduados de la universidad, donde se conocen nuestros protagonistas Emma y Dexter (Aunque realmente ya se habían conocido en otra oportunidad, sólo que Dexter es un tanto despistado y pensó no conocerle), Dexter se ofrece a acompañar a Emma hasta su casa y terminan besándose y a punto de acostarse, aquí conocemos un poco sobre las personalidades de cada uno, no terminan teniendo sexo, pero deciden que podrían ser amigos.

Así avanzamos un año, 15 de julio del 1989, Dexter ayuda con la mudanza de Emma en Londres, quién piensa que allí podrá abrirse camino para ser lo que realmente desea ser, una escritora, mientras Dexter debe tomar un vuelo ése mismo día a India, despidiéndose así cada uno y prometiendo escribirse cartas cada uno y con el deseo que cada uno tenga una vida increíble. Avanzamos un año más, 1990 y Emma trabaja en un restaurante de comida mexicana, donde se ve que realmente no es del todo feliz y tiene una actitud bastante pesimista al ver que no ha avanzado nada desde que llegó a Londres y por otro lado Dexter es un profesor en París y parece que está bastante contento allí.

15 de julio del 1991 Emma y Dexter se encuentran y éste le aconseja que debería dejar su trabajo, realmente sabe que no le hace feliz y que no es lo que ella hubiese deseado hace algunos años atrás, por lo que le invita a tomarse unas vacaciones, las cuales llegan un año después en 1992, ambos vacacionan en Francia y deciden colocar unas reglas, la primera es no dormir en el mismo cuarto, la segunda es no flirtear con el otro y por último no deben verse desnudos, reglas que terminan rompiendo una por una y mostrando indicios de que ambos se gustan entre sí, pero Dexter asegura no estar listo para el tipo de relación que Emma busca, por lo que la conversación termina allí. Y así poco a poco iremos avanzando a través de los años y conociendo los caminos de Emma y Dexter.

Quiero empezar mi opinión hablando de la historia, quiero decir que desde un principio no me estaba llamando la atención, la razón era lo poco que contaban de cada año que transcurría, por lo que al principio sentí que avanzaban muy rápido y no me contaban lo suficiente para irme encariñando con los protagonistas, pero a medida que avanzaba y terminé la película realmente me gustó el cómo se cuenta la historia, porque entendí que estos pequeños fragmentos forman parte de un todo y esto hizo que la película tuviese otro sentido luego de terminar, por lo que realmente me terminó encantando toda la historia y el resultado final que hay en esta.

Es normal encontrar en historias de romance que las personalidades de los personajes sean bastante distintas por cualquier motivo y justamente esto hace que haya un equilibrio, pero en esta película lo que más llamó mi atención con respecto a sus personalidades fue el desarrollo que mantiene cada uno, porque aunque conocemos su versión de 1988, recordemos que avanzamos hasta el 2006, por lo que sin duda podemos ver un cambio en estos y diría que es algo que no se aprecia en otras historias similares, por lo que me pareció una excelente manera de mantener la atención en la película, por lo menos conmigo funcionó.

Lo que más me sorprendió de esta película es el aspecto realista sobre cómo año tras año van cambiando nuestros protagonistas, generando así una historia que realmente tiene un impacto, porque aunque soy de esos que les gustan las historias románticas todas de fantasías, en esta no es así, aquí transcurre una historia que perfectamente podría ser contada por cualquier persona que conozcamos o incluso por nosotros mismos, por lo que es una manera de conectar emocionalmente hablando y esto me pareció precioso, la interpretación de la vida misma en una película y dejando así muchas cosas a la reflexión mismo del destino, las oportunidades y el tiempo.

No voy a hablar de qué sucede al final, realmente deseo que puedan verlo por ustedes mismos si mi reseña hace que la película termine llamando su atención, pero si quiero comentar el hecho de que el final me dejó un extraño sabor de boca, quiero decir, arriba comento que me gustó y ciertamente lo hizo, pero también me dejó pensando un poco y el motivo por el cual digo que me gustó es por lo que comentaba de ser una historia muy real y así se siente la vida misma, una sensación curiosa que quizás no sabes describir del todo, pero allí está, espero que se pueda entender lo que quise decir.

Por último, sólo quiero decir que les recomiendo la película sin lugar a dudas, es algo que volvería a ver en cualquier otro momento y no es algo que diga mucho de las películas de este estilo, así que realmente lo vale y también decir que me encantó la actuación de ambos protagonistas, realmente me hicieron sentir cada emoción que experimentó cada uno y ya sin más qué decir me despido, espero que la reseña les haya parecido bastante interesante y les motive a ver la película.
