Today I decided to watch a movie that I think many like me consider a classic and I did it because I just got a scene in my social networks that made me laugh too much, so I wanted to relive that happiness that left me the movie at the time, plus it never hurts to see this kind of movies from time to time, so, welcome to a new review today dear friends of the community, the movie I want to talk about is called "Ice Age", let's start with this review.

This movie released on March 8, 2002 is an American production that belongs to the genre of animation, besides containing action, comedy, fantasy and adventure, so the story that we are presented has a variety of events, here we follow the story of some characters so different, including a saber-toothed tiger, a mammoth and a sloth, which have as their mission to return a human baby that has come to them by chance, so they try to return it to their tribe, but it will not be so easy to achieve by other animals not so good.

Let's talk a little about how this movie starts, the first thing we see is a squirrel with an acorn (that's right, here is born one of the best characters of the whole film and who carries the weight of the whole film) looking for where to bury it, once he decides the place, he tries to put the acorn and this makes the ice begins to break, The little squirrel flees and manages to survive, to reach a place with land, here he tries to bury his acorn again but is trampled by a stampede of animals of different species who are fleeing from the ice age.

Here we meet our first protagonist, a very bitter woolly mammoth named Manfred, who goes in the opposite direction. The next protagonist we meet is Sid, a sloth with a very clumsy personality, besides being a joker who does not know when to stop talking, he crosses Manfred when Sid was trying to escape from a couple of rhinos who were chasing him for having ruined their lunch, so Manfred decides to save Sid, not because he felt sorry for him, but because he hates animals that kill for pleasure and not for necessity. Thanks to this Sid decides to follow Manfred, but he refuses, but Sid ignores him and nicknames him Manny.

On the other hand, we meet Diego, a saber-toothed tiger who is about to kidnap a baby from a hunter as revenge for killing half of his herd, but the baby's mother tries to escape towards a waterfall and being cornered by Diego, she throws herself to try to save her baby's life and this works, Diego does not follow him because he is afraid of the water, but the leader of his herd tells him that he must find the baby or he will kill him. By coincidence of life, Manny and Sid find the little baby, besides seeing his mother on the river bank, who with her last efforts pushes her baby in the direction of the two of them, they both see the baby amazed and when they turn to look, the baby's mother is no longer there.

Sid is the one who says that they should take the baby back to the humans, Manny refuses and only mocks Sid's attempts to climb a hill (which he fails to do) and moments later Diego arrives, who assures that the baby is his, but Manny refuses to hand it over because he senses the true intentions of the saber-toothed tiger, So Manny agrees to help Sid to return the baby and Diego assures that they will not be able to find the humans without his help, to which Manny still distrustful, agrees to guide them, thus beginning the adventure of our beloved protagonists, Manny and Sid wanting to return the baby, but Diego has other intentions, to take him to his herd.

The rest of the movie I will leave it for those who have not seen it and want to do it, so I will not tell any spoiler, I will only talk about my opinion about the movie and I want to start with the story, I really find interesting how it starts telling the story of animals escaping from the ice age, to then incorporate the story of returning a human baby by some animals, really the premise seems to me curious and that ends up trapping, also I consider that there are other stories within the main one, which allows one to end up knowing and connecting more with the main characters, certainly a very good story.

The construction of the characters seems great to me, I consider that each one having a personality so different from the others allows to maintain a kind of balance, so it makes the whole journey of the film is really enjoyable, plus they are adding more characters (not main) that also contribute in that little screen time, also, I must say that each of the protagonists has a different charm, but I will say that my favorite character is undoubtedly Sid and I mention this because it is linked to the following of what I want to talk about.

The comedy section in this movie seems spectacular to me and I think the reason for this is because of the silly humor they handle, the jokes, the actions, the events that led to each character at some point, everything is perfectly positioned to generate humor and without a doubt the character with whom I laughed the most (and I'm sure many of those who saw the movie too) was Sid the sloth, without a doubt since he appears for the first time he generates so much humor that I think he is one of the best characters created, his silly personality, but so spontaneous is a very successful combination, but this does not detract from the humor of the rest of the characters, perhaps they have a smaller measure, but in their own way they also generate a lot of humor, especially Manny with his sarcasm.

Something that I have mentioned before in other reviews and that this one also complies with it, is the theme of the messages, I consider that the movies of before always had as a mission to tell something, nowadays I feel that this goes very unnoticed in many occasions, but in this movie there really is a message, something to see the movie for besides all the fun of course, I mean, the existence of such a humanized story seems to me that it is a very good success, because as I mentioned, they really achieve the formula that you can connect with the characters at some point in the film and this will always be a beneficial factor to enjoy.

I finish by saying that after two decades I still find it a great movie, it is just as I remember it, I could even say it is better, because it is one of those movies that age well, both the sense of humor, the story and what it wants to convey, so, for my part tell you that, if you have not seen it, this is the time to do it and if you have already seen it, it's time to see it once again, it really is totally worth it. El día de hoy decidí ver una película que creo que muchos al igual que yo consideramos un clásico y lo hice porque justo me salió una escena en mis redes sociales que me hizo reír demasiado, por lo que quise revivir esa felicidad que me dejó la película en su momento, además que nunca está de más ver este tipo de películas de vez en cuando, así que, sean bienvenidos a una nueva reseña el día de hoy queridos amigos de la comunidad, la película de la que quiero hablarles lleva por nombre “La era del hielo”, comencemos con esta reseña.

Esta película estrenada el 8 de marzo del año 2002 es una producción estadounidense que pertenece al género de la animación, además de contener acción, comedia, fantasía y aventura, por lo que la historia que se nos presenta tiene una gran variedad de sucesos, aquí seguimos la historia de unos personajes tan distintos, entre ellos un tigre dientes de sable, un mamut y un perezoso, los cuales tienen como misión el devolver un bebé humano que ha llegado a ellos por casualidad, por lo que intentan devolverlo a su tribu, pero no será tan fácil de lograr por otros animales no tan buenos.

Hablemos un poco de cómo inicia esta película, lo primero que vemos es a una ardilla con una bellota (así es, aquí nace uno de los mejores personajes de todo el cine y quien lleva el peso de toda la película) buscando donde enterrarla, una vez decide el lugar, intenta meter la bellota y esta hace que el hielo comience a romperse, lo que a su vez hace que se extienda y ocasionando una especie de avalancha, la pequeña ardilla huye y logra sobrevivir, para llegar a un sitio con tierra, aquí intenta volver a enterrar su bellota pero es pisada por una gran estampida de animales de diferentes especies quienes huyen de la era del hielo.

Aquí conocemos a nuestro primer protagonista, un mamut lanudo y muy amargado llamado Manfred, quien va en dirección contraria. El siguiente protagonista que conocemos es Sid, un perezoso con una personalidad muy torpe, además de ser un bromista que no sabe cuándo parar de hablar, se cruza con Manfred cuando Sid intentaba escapar de una pareja de rinocerontes quienes lo perseguían por haber arruinado su almuerzo, así Manfred decide salvar a Sid, no porque sintiese pena por él, sino porque detesta a los animales que matan por placer y no por necesidad. Gracias a esto Sid decide seguir a Manfred, pero él se niega, igual Sid no hace caso y le apoda como Manny.

Por otro lado, conocemos a Diego, un tigre dientes de sable quien está por secuestrar a un bebé de un cazador como venganza por haber asesinado a la mitad de su manada, pero la madre del bebé intenta escapar en dirección a una cascada y al verse acorralada por Diego, se lanza para intentar salvar la vida de su bebé y esto funciona, Diego no le sigue porque le teme al agua, pero el jefe de su manada le dice que debe encontrar al bebé o lo matará a él. Por casualidades de la vida, Manny y Sid encuentran al pequeño bebé, además de ver a su madre en la orilla del río, quien con sus últimos esfuerzos empuja a su bebé en dirección de ellos dos, ambos ven al bebé asombrados y cuando voltean a ver, la madre del bebé ya no está.

Sid es quien dice que deberían llevar al bebé devuelta con los humanos, Manny se niega y sólo se burla de los intentos de Sid al subir una colina(cosa que no logra) y momentos después llega Diego, quien asegura que el bebé es suyo, pero Manny se niega a entregarlo porque presiente las verdaderas intenciones del tigre dientes de sable, por lo que Manny acepta ayudar a Sid a devolver al bebé y Diego asegura que no podrán encontrar a los humanos sin su ayuda, a lo que Manny aún desconfiado, acepta que los guíe, iniciando así la aventura de nuestros queridos protagonistas, Manny y Sid queriendo devolver al bebé, pero Diego tiene otras intenciones, llevarlo con su manada.

El resto de la película lo dejaré para aquellos que no la hayan visto y quieran hacerlo, por lo que no contaré ningún spoiler, sólo hablaré de mi opinión sobre la película y quiero comenzar con la historia, realmente me parece interesante el cómo comienza contando la historia de animales que escapan de la era del hielo, para luego incorporar la historia de devolver un bebé humano por unos animales, realmente la premisa me parece curiosa y que termina atrapando, además que considero que hay otras historias dentro de la principal, lo que permite que uno termine conociendo y conectando más con los personajes principales, sin duda una historia muy buena.

La construcción de los personajes me parece estupenda, considero que cada uno al tener una personalidad tan distinta de los otros permite que se mantenga una especie de equilibrio, por lo que hace que todo el trayecto de la película sea realmente disfrutable, además que se van sumando más personajes (no principales) que aportan también en ese poco espacio de tiempo en pantalla, además, debo decir que cada uno de los protagonistas tiene un encanto distinto, pero les diré que mí personaje favorito sin dudas es Sid y menciono esto porque está ligado con lo siguiente de lo que deseo hablar.

El apartado de la comedia en esta película me parece espectacular y considero que la razón de esto es por el humor tan tonto que manejan, los chistes, las acciones, los sucesos que llevaron a cada personaje en algún momento, todo está perfectamente posicionado para que genere humor y sin duda el personaje con el que más me reí (y estoy seguro que muchos de los que vieron la película también) fue Sid el perezoso, sin dudas desde que aparece por primera vez me genera tanta gracia que me parece uno de los mejores personajes creados, su personalidad tan tonta, pero tan espontanea es una combinación muy acertada, pero esto no le resta humor al resto de personajes, quizás tienen una medida menor, pero a su manera también generan mucha gracia, más que todo Manny con su sarcasmo.

Algo que he mencionado antes en otras reseñas y que esta también cumple con ello, es el tema de los mensajes, considero que las películas de antes tenían como misión siempre contar algo, actualmente siento que esto pasa muy desapercibido en muchas ocasiones, pero en esta película realmente hay un mensaje, algo por lo que ver la película además de toda la diversión claro, además que es una historia muy linda, quiero decir, la existencia de una historia tan humanizada me parece que es un acierto muy bueno, porque como bien mencionaba, realmente logran la formula de que puedas conectar con los personajes en algún momento de la película y esto siempre será un factor beneficioso para disfrutar.

Finalizo diciendo que después de dos décadas me sigue pareciendo una película estupenda, es tal y como la recuerdo, incluso podría decir que es mejor, porque es una de esas películas que envejecen bien, tanto el sentido del humor, la historia y lo que quiere transmitir, así que, por mí parte decirles que, si no la han visto, este es el momento de hacerlo y si ya la han visto, es el momento de verla una vez más, realmente vale totalmente la pena.
