Some time ago, as usual, I was surfing some social network and a trailer caught my attention instantly. I am a lover of animated movies and when these include animals is a clear sign to know that it is a story I want to see, I had to wait a couple of months, maybe for it to be released, I had even forgotten about the movie, but just today I came across it and I knew I had to see it, so welcome to a new review dear movie lovers, today I want to talk to you about the movie called "Migration", let's start with the review.

This movie was released on December 6, 2023 and as I mentioned at the beginning, it is a computer animated movie produced by Illumination (who have an excellent catalog of movies if you ask me) which makes it an American production where we will find an unparalleled story full of lots of comedy and adventure. The plot is quite simple, we will follow the story of a family of ducks who have spent their whole life in the same pond thanks to the overprotective father, but he is convinced by his family to go on vacation from New England to Jamaica, but their trip takes an unexpected turn.

What happens in the movie?

Let's talk a little about what happens in the movie and it starts with a pretty cute and colorful introduction with a very simple animation that represents a bedtime story of a father to his children, here he tells them how many ducks lived in a pond that was a paradise, they had everything they could want, so they were all happy, except two little ducklings, these ducklings wanted to know the outside world, so they decide to leave the pond and just at that moment they are caught by other predators, but the ducklings are not afraid, they decide to leave and die (Yes, this is the story of a father to his children) thus ending the story.

Of course, this story told by the ducklings' father is intended to scare the ducklings so that they do not decide to explore the outside world, because there are many dangers outside that they do not know about. The mother of the ducklings tries to improve the story, which sparks a small discussion and the story has many plot twists, but, in the end, the father's objective is achieved: he scares one of the two ducklings, who seems to have been traumatized by the story. This family consists of Mack who is the father, a mother named Pam and together they have two little ducklings named Dax and Gwen. This family of ducks has been in the same pond all their lives. Mack doesn't want to leave because he is an over protective father who wants to take care of his family.

One day a flock of migratory ducks arrive at the pond where Mack and his family live, Dax excited to meet them heads towards them and for this reason the migratory ducks invite them to migrate with them in the direction of Jamaica and although almost everyone is excited about this opportunity to leave the pond, clearly Mack makes some excuses and the migratory ducks leave. Here we see a little discussion between Mack and Pam, who gives him the advice that he should open his eyes to the outside world, because there is a lot he may be missing out on, but this doesn't affect Mack at all.

As night falls, Mack reflects a little on Pam's words and has a little conversation with his old uncle Dan, he assures Mack that he must keep his goals clear and never leave the pond, so he will have a life just like him, being happy, having food, a safe place and lots of solitude, the latter sets off the alarms of Mack who does not want for anything in the world to end up just like his uncle and so in a very erratic way wakes up his family to give them the surprise that they are going on vacation to Jamaica. Although they were all a bit incredulous at the news, they are delighted. Mack is very afraid to leave the pond, but there is no turning back, thus beginning a new adventure for the whole family.

My opinion about the movie

I have several things I want to comment about the movie, so from this point on I will only talk about my opinion and consideration of the movie without spoilers and starting with the most important thing, the story. Let's start being very honest, Illumination in many of its productions does not stand out much in the stories but in other sections which I will mention later and this is the case with this movie, the story is very simple, a family of ducks who are going to migrate together for the first time and that's it, Of course there are some twists to keep your attention, but it is not a complicated story, although that does not have to be bad, on the contrary, being so simple allowed me to enjoy it more by focusing only on what was happening, I found something very nice and very funny.

Now, talking about the sections that in my opinion Illumination always does great is in the visuals, as soon as the movie starts the first thing I was thinking was "this looks beautiful" and it is inevitable not to notice how beautiful the movie looks, the animation is so enjoyable that already with that I feel I was predisposed to consider it as an excellent movie no matter what happens, it may seem an exaggeration, but I am sure that if you have not seen it yet, it will be one of the things that you will love the most about the movie and you can also appreciate it in the images, a very well cared detail by Illumination.

Let's talk a little bit about the comedy, I'll be completely honest and I can't stop throwing flowers to the movie, from beginning to end I was laughing like a little kid, I feel that the jokes were great because they come from the perspective of an overprotective father and this gave rise to many of the situations that occurred were very ironic and funny. There were several moments where the comedy disappears, but the reason for this is because you feel a tension that I don't think I have felt in any other movie. This also gives it more points for daring to show even scary aspects that make you not want to look away for a second.

Although the movie may be simple, but this one has many elements that make it great, the comedy is excellent, the visual animation is beautiful, the characters are very charismatic and varied, so you end up getting attached not only with the main characters, but also with other characters that join the adventure and just now I mention the adventure, this is another point that I found excellent, although the story is simple, the adventure that our beloved family experiences is undoubtedly incredible, at least I was going through different moments while watching it, there was always a certain twist that you wondered how you got to that point, but that's the magic of the movie, its simplicity.

Hace un tiempo que, como de costumbre, estaba navegando por alguna red social y un tráiler llamó mi atención al instante. Soy un amante de las películas animadas y cuando estas incluyen animales es una clara señal para saber que es una historia que quiero ver, tuve que esperar un par de meses, quizás para que se estrenara, incluso ya había olvidado la película, pero justo hoy me topé con ella y sabía que tenía que verla, así que sean bienvenidos a una nueva reseña queridos amantes del cine, el día de hoy quiero hablarles de la película llamada “¡Patos!”, comencemos con la reseña.

Esta película fue estrenada el 6 de diciembre del año 2023 y como mencionaba al principio, es una película animada por computadora producida por Illumination (quienes tienen un excelente catálogo de películas si me lo preguntan) lo que la hace una producción estadounidense donde encontraremos una historia sin igual llena de mucha comedia y aventura. La trama es bastante sencilla, seguiremos la historia de una familia de patos quienes han pasado toda su vida en el mismo estanque gracias al padre sobre protector, pero este es convencido por su familia para irse de vacaciones desde Nueva Inglaterra hasta Jamaica, pero su viaje da un giro inesperado.

¿Qué sucede en la película?

Hablemos un poco de lo que sucede en la película y es que comienza con una introducción bastante linda y colorida con una animación muy sencilla que representa una historia para dormir de un padre hacia sus hijos, aquí les cuenta como muchos patos Vivian en un estanque que era un paraíso, tenían todo lo que podrían querer, por lo que todos eran felices, excepto dos pequeños patitos, estos patitos querían conocer el mundo exterior, por lo que deciden salir del estanque y justo en ese momento son atrapados por otros depredadores, pero los patitos no tienen miedo, deciden lugar y mueren (Sí, esta es la historia de un padre hacia sus hijos) terminando así la historia.

Por supuesto que esta historia que cuenta el padre de los patitos es con la intención de asustarlos y que estos no decidan explorar el mundo externo, porque afuera hay muchos peligros que ellos no conocen. La madre de los patitos intenta mejorar la historia, lo que desata una pequeña discusión y la historia tiene muchos giros argumentales, pero, a fin de cuentas, se logra el objetivo del padre: asusta a uno de los dos patitos, quien parece haber quedado traumado con la historia. Esta familia está conformada por Mack quien es el padre, una madre llamada Pam y juntos tienen dos pequeños patitos llamados Dax y Gwen. Esta familia de patos ha estado toda su vida en el mismo estanque. Mack no quiere salir porque es un padre sobre protector que quiere cuidar a su familia.

Un día una bandada de patos migratorios llegan al estanque donde vive Mack y su familia, Dax emocionado por conocerlos se dirige hacia ellos y por esta razón los patos migratorios les invitan a migrar con ellos en dirección a Jamaica y aunque casi todos están emocionados por esta oportunidad de salir del estanque, claramente Mack pone algunas excusas y los patos migratorios se marchan. Aquí vemos una pequeña discusión entre Mack y Pam, quien le da el consejo de que debe abrir los ojos al mundo exterior, porque hay mucho de lo que se puede estar perdiendo, pero esto no afecta en nada a Mack.

Al caer la noche, Mack reflexiona un poco sobre las palabras de Pam y tiene una pequeña conversación con su viejo tío Dan, este le asegura a Mack que debe mantener sus objetivos claros y no irse nunca del estanque, así tendrá una vida igual que él, siendo feliz, teniendo comida, un lugar seguro y mucha soledad, esto último enciende las alarmas de Mack quien no quiere por nada del mundo terminar igual que su tío y así de una manera muy errática despierta a su familia para darles la sorpresa de que van a irse de vacaciones a Jamaica. Aunque todos estaban un poco incrédulos con la noticia, se alegran. Mack tiene mucho miedo de salir del estanque, pero ya no hay vuelta atrás, comenzando así una nueva aventura para toda la familia.

Mi opinión sobre la película

Tengo varias cosas que quiero comentar de la película, por lo que a partir de este punto solo hablaré sobre mi opinión y consideración de la película sin spoiler y empezando por lo más importante, la historia. Empecemos siendo muy honestos, Illumination en muchas de sus producciones no se destaca mucho en las historias sino en otros apartados los cuales voy a mencionar más adelante y este es el caso con esta película, la historia es muy sencilla, una familia de patos quienes van a emigrar juntos por primera vez y eso es todo, claro que hay ciertos giros para mantener la atención, pero no es una historia complicada, aunque eso no tiene por qué ser malo, todo lo contrario, al ser tan sencilla me permitió disfrutarla más al centrarme solo en lo que estaba ocurriendo, me pareció algo muy agradable y muy divertido.

Ahora bien, hablando de los apartados que en mi opinión Illumination siempre hace genial es en lo visual, apenas comienza la película lo primero que estaba pensando era “esto se ve precioso” y es que es inevitable no darse cuenta de lo hermosa que se ve la película, la animación es tan disfrutable que ya con eso siento que estaba predispuesto a considerarla como una excelente película sin importar lo que ocurriese, puede parecer una exageración, pero estoy seguro de que si no la han visto todavía, será una de las cosas que más les encante de la película y pueden apreciarlo también en las imágenes, un detalle muy bien cuidado por parte de Illumination.

Hablemos un poco de la comedia, seré completamente honesto y es que no puedo dejar de echarle flores a la película, de principio a fin me estuve riendo como un niño pequeño, siento que los chistes fueron geniales porque vienen desde la perspectiva de un padre sobre protector y esto daba pie a que muchas de las situaciones que ocurrieron fueran muy irónicas y graciosas. Hubo varios momentos donde la comedia desaparece, pero la razón de esto es porque se siente una tensión que creo que no había sentido en ninguna otra película. Esto también le da más puntos por atreverse a mostrar aspectos incluso aterradores que te hacen no querer apartar la vista ni por un segundo.

Aunque bien, la película puede ser sencilla, pero esta tiene muchos elementos que la hacen genial, la comedia es excelente, la animación visual es preciosa, los personajes son muy carismáticos y variados, por lo que te terminas encariñando no solo con los personajes principales, sino también con otros personajes que se van sumando a la aventura y justo ahora que menciono la aventura, este es otro punto que me pareció excelente, aunque la historia sea sencilla, la aventura que nuestra querida familia experimenta es sin duda increíble, al menos yo estuve pasando por diferentes momentos mientras la veía, siempre había cierto giro que te preguntabas cómo llegaste hasta ese punto, pero esa es la magia de la película, su sencillez.

Quiero finalizar recomendando esta película, aunque leí un poco y siento que internet no le está dando muchos puntos positivos, yo sí lo hago, claro que todo se basa en mis gustos personales, pero considero que realmente lo vale, por lo que, si quieren una película para divertirse el fin de semana, esta es la indicada, denle una oportunidad, pueden verla con los más pequeños de la casa o incluso en solitario, de cualquier manera, la diversión está asegurada.
