Today I woke up wanting to see one of the movies that I liked so much at the time of Jim Carrey, it is a movie that I got to see more than 10 times because they used to show it on television, but I always find it interesting to watch old movies again and see how much our tastes can change as we grow up and how much can change the acceptability of a movie or not as the years go by too, so welcome to a new review today, I want to share with you my opinion about the movie "Yes Man", let's start.

The plot of this film is quite simple, here we enter the life of a guy named Carl Allen, who seems to have a problem with refusing any invitation, no matter what kind of plan he is invited or proposal his answer is always no, but this changes when Carl after being invited by a "friend" to a seminar where he is made to promise to say "Yes" to anything anyone offers him and this causes Carl's life to change completely, bringing with it many surprising and unexpected things for our friend Carl.

The film begins with our protagonist Carl Allen, who refuses a call twice until he accidentally answers, who calls him is his friend, who asks him what he is doing and Carl mentions to be in his apartment (when he is really in a video store renting some tape), his friend asks him if he will go with them to an outing, but Carl tells him that he is very busy with many things and that if it were another day he would attend without problems, clearly it is a lie and his friend knows it, because he is outside the video store while he sees Carl through a window, so he has no excuse and goes out with them.

The meeting was to announce the marriage of one of them, Carl is not very excited and just realizes that his ex is there too, so he decides to leave and makes a bit of a fool of himself. A new day begins and Carl gets ready for his job, he goes out and meets his neighbor, a tender old lady who invites him to lunch and clearly Carl refuses, even in the mail invitations he refuses everything they send him. Carl's job is to approve or deny loans and even in these situations it is usually always a NO.

During his lunch break, an old acquaintance of Carl's appears, who tells him that for so much refusing life no good things happen to him, so he invites him to a seminar that will change his life, Carl clearly refuses and continues with his life of constant refusals to any invitation, until he has a kind of nightmare that makes him end up agreeing to go to the seminar, Once there, after being the center of attention for refusing to even approach the stage, they end up convincing Carl to make a promise, the promise is that every time any opportunity presents itself and no matter what it is, he must say yes or it will go bad if he refuses, Carl accepts and you really see a change in his attitude.

Once he leaves the seminar, a homeless man asks him if he can take him to a place, Carl says yes, the homeless man asks if he can lend him his phone to call, Carl accepts again and once they arrive at the place, the homeless man asks if he can give him some dollars, Carl accepts and brings him some dollars, until the homeless man asks him if he can give him all the money he has and Carl accepts, although it was clearly not what he wanted. When leaving the place his car runs out of gas, so he has to walk all the way to a gas station, there appears a girl who takes a picture of him and strikes up a conversation with her, she offers him a ride back to his car, he accepts and when they say goodbye she kisses him and all this because he said yes to each of the requests, thus starting a new and interesting life for Carl and his philosophy of saying yes to everything.

I want to start my opinion talking about the story, I really found it very interesting how creative the theme is and although it seems simple, the amount of opportunities that can be presented to a person who refuses or accepts really is infinite, so here they allowed themselves to explore situations that perhaps are not at all common, but this is what makes the film have an appeal, the amount of unexpected things that can happen depending on the decision making that the person makes and in the case of Carl, really his lifestyle makes it a very funny, interesting and curious story.

The sense of humor in all films where Jim Carrey is the protagonist can be something silly for some and brilliant for others, for my part I consider that the character that is Jim Carrey alone is already very funny and is what implements all the roles he plays, giving a unique touch and similar to all his characters in terms of humor of course, so for me at least the film has a very enjoyable sense of humor, somewhat innocent at times, a little over the top at others and somewhat exaggerated in the style of Jim Carrey throughout the development of the story, but as I mentioned, at least I am to enjoy his sense of humor something childish.

The big difference between the characters I love, both Carl's friends with a somewhat serious but funny personality, Carl so pessimistic about the things that happen in his life, Carl's co-worker who is very positive about everything and the outgoing and spontaneous girl that Carl meets seems to me a combination that doesn't make any kind of sense, but they really make it work, clearly there are many other characters that you will discover as you progress through the film, but as I mentioned, they are characters that you would say would not fit well together and the film manages to do that, so the story and character construction seems very good to me.

The philosophy of the movie about saying yes to everything I liked a lot when I was a kid, so much so that every time I saw the movie I decided I would apply it, but as I was a kid clearly the decisions were not always entirely up to me, but it was still fun to try, so I have a very good memory of this movie, which makes it one of my favorite Jim Carrey movies and although perhaps the movie exaggerates a bit what the philosophy of yes is about, the message is really good once the movie is over, it makes a lot of sense and it really is worth always considering the opportunities that present themselves.

Hoy me levanté con ganas de ver una de las películas que tanto me gustaban en su momento de Jim Carrey, es una película que llegué a ver más de 10 veces por lo tanto que solían pasarla por televisión, pero siempre me parece interesante volver a ver películas viejas y ver qué tanto pueden cambiar nuestros gustos según vamos creciendo y qué tanto puede cambiar lo aceptable de una película o no según avanzan los años también, así que sean bienvenidos a una nueva reseña el día de hoy, quiero compartirles mi opinión sobre la película de “¡Sí, señor!”, comencemos.

La trama de esta película resulta bastante sencilla, aquí nos adentraremos en la vida de un sujeto llamado Carl Allen, quien parece tener cierto problema con negarse a cualquier invitación, sin importar el tipo de plan al que se le invite o propuesta su respuesta siempre es no, pero esto cambia cuando Carl luego de ser invitado por un “amigo” a un seminario donde le hacen prometer que debe decir “Sí” a cualquier cosa que alguien le ofrezca y esto ocasiona que la vida de Carl cambie completamente, trayendo consigo muchas cosas sorprendentes e inesperadas para nuestro amigo Carl.

La película comienza con nuestro protagonista Carl Allen, quien rechaza una llamada en dos ocasiones hasta que por accidente contesta, quien le llama es su amigo, el cual le pregunta qué está haciendo y Carl menciona estar en su apartamento (cuando realmente está en una tienda de video alquilando alguna cinta), su amigo le pregunta si irá con ellos a una salida, pero Carl le dice que está muy ocupado con muchas cosas y que si fuese otro día asistiría sin problemas, claramente es mentira y su amigo lo sabe, porque se encuentra fuera de la tienda de videos mientras ve a Carl a través de una ventana, por lo que no tiene excusa y sale con ellos.

La reunión era para anunciar el casamiento de uno de ellos, Carl no se emociona mucho y justo se percata de que su ex se encuentra allí también, por lo que decide irse y hace un poco el ridículo. Empieza un nuevo día y Carl se prepara para su trabajo, sale y se encuentra con su vecina, una tierna anciana quien le invita a comer y claramente Carl se niega, incluso en las invitaciones de correo se niega a todo lo que le envían. El trabajo de Carl es aprobar o negar prestamos y hasta en estas situaciones suele ser siempre un NO.

En su tiempo de descanso para almorzar, aparece un viejo conocido de Carl, quien le dice que por tanto negarse a la vida no le ocurren cosas buenas, por lo que le invita a un seminario que cambiará su vida, Carl se niega claramente y sigue con su vida de constantes negativas a cualquier invitación, hasta que tiene una especie de pesadilla que le hace terminar aceptando ir al seminario, una vez allí, después de ser el centro de atención por negarse incluso a acercarse al escenario, terminan convenciendo a Carl de hacer una promesa, la promesa es que cada vez que se presente alguna oportunidad y sin importar qué sea, debe decir que sí o le irá mal si se niega, Carl acepta y realmente se ve un cambió en su actitud.

Una vez sale del seminario, un vagabundo le pregunta si puede llevarlo a un lugar, Carl dice que sí, el vagabundo pregunta si puede prestarle su teléfono para llamar, Carl acepta nuevamente y una vez que llegan al lugar, el vagabundo pregunta si le puede dar unos dólares, Carl acepta y le acerca unos dólares, hasta que el vagabundo le pregunta si le puede dar todo el dinero que tiene y Carl acepta, aunque claramente no era lo que quería. Al irse del sitio su auto se queda sin gasolina, por lo que debe ir todo el camino caminando hasta una gasolinera, allí aparece una chica quien le toma una fotografía y entabla una conversación con ella, ella le ofrece llevarle de regreso a su auto, acepta y cuando se despiden ella le besa y todo esto gracias a que dijo que sí a cada una de las peticiones, empezando así una nueva e interesante vida para Carl y su filosofía de decir sí a todo.

Quiero comenzar mi opinión hablando sobre la historia, realmente me pareció muy interesante lo creativo que es el tema y aunque parezca sencillo, la cantidad de oportunidades que se pueden presentar ante una persona que se niega o acepta realmente es infinita, por lo que aquí se permitieron explorar situaciones que quizás no son nada comunes, pero esto es lo que hace que la película tenga un atractivo, la cantidad de cosas inesperadas que pueden suceder según la toma de decisiones que la persona haga y en el caso de Carl, realmente su estilo de vida hace que sea una historia muy divertida, interesante y curiosa.

El sentido del humor en todas las películas donde Jim Carrey es el protagonista puede ser algo tonto para algunos y brillantes para otros, por mí parte yo considero que el personaje que es Jim Carrey por si solo ya tiene mucha gracia y es lo que implementa a todos los papeles que hace, dándole un toque único y similar a todos sus personajes en cuanto al humor claro, por lo que para mí al menos la película tiene un sentido del humor muy disfrutable, algo inocente en ciertas ocasiones, un poco subido de tono en otras y un tanto exagerado al estilo de Jim Carrey en todo el desarrollo de la historia, pero como bien menciono, al menos yo soy de disfrutar su sentido del humor algo infantil.

Los gran diferencia entre los personajes me encanta, tanto los amigos de Carl con una personalidad un tanto seria pero divertida, Carl tan pesimista por las cosas que suceden en su vida, un compañero de trabajo de Carl que resulta muy positivo ante todo y la chica extrovertida y espontanea que conoce Carl me parece una combinación que no tiene ningún tipo de sentido, pero realmente logran que funcione, claramente hay muchos otros personajes que irán descubriendo a medida que avancen en la película, pero como menciono, son personajes que dirías que no encajarían bien juntos y la película lo logra, por lo que la construcción de historia y personaje me parece muy buena.

La filosofía de la película sobre decir que sí a todo me gustó mucho cuando era pequeño, tanto así que cada vez que veía la película decidía que la aplicaría, pero como era un niño claramente las decisiones no siempre dependían netamente de mí, pero igual me hacía gracia intentarlo, por lo que tengo un muy buen recuerdo de esta película, lo que la hace una de mis favoritas de Jim Carrey y aunque quizás en la película se exagere un poco sobre lo que trata la filosofía del sí, realmente el mensaje es muy bueno una vez que termina la película, tiene mucho sentido y realmente vale la pena considerar siempre las oportunidades que se presenten.

Para finalizar quiero decirles que es una película que recomiendo ver, al ser del 2008 es muy probable que muchos ya la conozcan, pero para aquellos que no, realmente vale la pena verla al menos una vez en la vida, es una película muy divertida con la que pasarás un rato muy ameno.
