Desde el momento del anuncio del universo cinematográfico creado por Sony Pictures el cual está conformado por la extensa lista de villanos de Spider-Man he visto como se creó un movimiento que está contra de estos proyectos que no son parte del MCU y de los cuales en dos oportunidades (Venom 1 y 2) vieron como sus quejas no tuvieron ningún resultado porque está idea parecía ser un éxito, pero justamente hay momentos que al explotar una idea se pueda presentar alguno que otro fallo que demuestre que algunas veces, una fórmula exitosa sea difícil de copiar; estos problemas no solo los enfrenta Sony Pictures, sino también DC/Warner Pictures y hasta Marvel Studios, la diferencia está en que estos últimos si tienen un gran apoyo de diferentes medios y es por eso que si no se tiene ese "apoyo", una idea o fórmula deberá ser casi perfecta para enfrentar presiones sobre si es exitosa o no.

From the moment of the announcement of the cinematic universe created by Sony Pictures which is formed by the extensive list of Spider-Man villains I have seen how a movement was created that is against these projects that are not part of the MCU and which twice (Venom 1 and 2) saw how their complaints had no result because this idea seemed to be a success, but there are times when exploiting an idea can present some other failure that shows that sometimes, a successful formula is difficult to copy; These problems are not only faced by Sony Pictures, but also by DC/Warner Pictures and even Marvel Studios, the difference is that the latter have a great support from different media and that is why if you do not have that "support", an idea or formula must be almost perfect to face pressures on whether it is successful or not.
En "Morbius" veremos la historia justamente del "Dr. Michael Morbius", un científico quien padece de una extraña enfermedad sanguínea incurable; Morbius tomando provecho del poco tiempo de vida que tiene busca de forma obsesiva la cura para su enfermedad y la de otros; de su desespero para salvarse, tomará medidas extremas, decisiones que será muy difícil de retractarse y es en ese momento cuando crea que ya tiene la cura para su mal, es que comenzará lo que posiblemente sea una maldición que lo hará transformarse en algo extraordinario, poderoso, en una criatura sedienta de sangre.
In "Morbius" we will see the story of "Dr. Michael Morbius", a scientist who suffers from a strange incurable blood disease; Morbius, taking advantage of the short time he has to live, is obsessively looking for a cure for his disease and that of others; in his desperation to save himself, he will take extreme measures, decisions that will be very difficult to retract and it is at that moment when he believes he already has the cure for his illness that he will begin what is possibly a curse that will transform him into something extraordinary, powerful, into a bloodthirsty creature.
No soy un gran fan de este universo cinematográfico de Sony y siendo honesto, solamente estoy 100% enfocado en todo lo que tiene que ver la historia de Miles Morales como Spider-Man y su llamado Spider-Verse, pero al leer las críticas negativas que obtuvo este film, para mí fue imposible no sentirse motivado y verificar que tan ciertas eran esas opiniones sobre esta historia que tuvo muchos cambios en su fecha de estreno hasta por fin llegar a este año en curso. Está película es dirigida por Daniel Espinosa, director sueco de origen chileno, quien dirigió "Life" (2017), película que justamente está muy ligada a todo esté universo de Sony Pictures que comenzó con "Venom" (2018); en esta oportunidad su trabajo pareciera en primer momento ser sencillo aunque con los reshoots e intromisión con respecto al usar personajes de otros films para que justamente esta historia "encaje" en el MCU, tal vez calificarlo en esa forma no es lo más aceptable, pero siendo sincero, pienso que aparte de las escenas de acción en dónde observamos el poder de Morbius, no hay nada más que destacar y es que justamente son las escenas de acción lo que más me ha gustado aunque también debo decir que pudo ser mejor; lo otro es en las escenas dónde se debe mostrar suspenso, miedo y terror, no lo son y se pierde una gran oportunidad porque este personaje e historia se presta para eso, por todo esto es que en vez de ser sencillo, al final es un trabajo regular, pero estoy seguro qué Espinosa pasa a estar en esa lista de directores víctimas de las decisiones de productores queriendo copiar una fórmula en vez de hacer algo propio.
El guion fue escrito por Matt Sazama y Burk Sharpless, si revisamos los guiones que han escrito para diferentes films, no era nada esperanzador de que la historia de este film sea importante; después de esto pienso que al hablar del guion puedo dividirlo en dos partes; la primera en donde pienso que la historia de Morbius es genérica, simple y lo sorprendente es que sirve para el tipo de films que son basados en comics porque al contar un origen de un personaje que por ciertos motivos será considerado un villano, hace que sea directa porque al final solo nos enfocamos en eso, en un origen y nada más; seguramente en un futuro se deberá usar otras cosas y seguir con la historia, pero en esta oportunidad no hay que inventar mucho y por eso a pesar de no ser el mejor guion pienso que es perfecto para este film; la segunda parte del guion tiene que ver con el relleno de la historia y es ahí donde entran los personajes que no tienen ninguna relevancia, es aquí donde se desvirtúa el film y no entiendo de la creación de estos personajes porque tiene cero influencia, es una perdida de tiempo.
I am not a big fan of this cinematic universe of Sony and being honest, I am only 100% focused on everything that has to do with the story of Miles Morales as Spider-Man and his so-called Spider-Verse, but reading the negative reviews that this film got, it was impossible for me not to feel motivated and verify how true were those opinions about this story that had many changes in its release date until finally arriving this year. This film is directed by Daniel Espinosa, Swedish director of Chilean origin, who directed "Life" (2017), a film that is closely linked to the Sony Pictures universe that began with "Venom" (2018); this time his work seems at first to be simple although with the reshoots and meddling with respect to using characters from other films to make this story "fit" in the MCU, perhaps qualify it in that way is not the most acceptable, but to be honest, I think that apart from the action scenes where we observe the power of Morbius, there is nothing else to highlight and it is precisely the action scenes what I liked the most although I must also say that it could have been better; The other thing is in the scenes where it should show suspense, fear and terror, they are not and a great opportunity is lost because this character and story lends itself to that, for all this is that instead of being simple, in the end it is a regular work, but I'm sure that Espinosa will be in that list of directors victims of the decisions of producers wanting to copy a formula instead of doing something of their own.
The script was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, if we review the scripts they have written for different films, it was not at all hopeful that the story of this film is important; after this I think that when talking about the script I can divide it into two parts; the first one where I think that the story of Morbius is generic, simple and the surprising thing is that it serves for the type of films that are based on comics because telling an origin of a character that for certain reasons will be considered a villain, makes it direct because in the end we only focus on that, in an origin and nothing else; surely in the future we will have to use other things and continue with the story, but in this opportunity we don't have to invent much and that's why despite not being the best script I think it's perfect for this film; the second part of the script has to do with the filling of the story and that's where the characters that have no relevance enter, it is here where the film is distorted and I don't understand the creation of these characters because they have zero influence, it's a waste of time.
La actuación no es la mejor, no sé que en que se basa Jared Leto para realizar su trabajo, tal vez aquí pueda señalar al director, guionistas y hasta quien realizó la edición de este film, porque me hubiera gustado ver más dramatismo en las versiones de joven y después adulta de "Michel Morbius" y el desespero por encontrar una cura para su enfermedad, lamentablemente eso no se nota ni en la actuación de Leto ni en la de Matt Smith quien interpreta a "Lucian", el mejor amigo de Michael quien también padece una enfermedad sanguínea y está dispuesto a hacer cualquier cosa para obtener una cura; creo que entre estos dos actores antes de mostrar sus versiones sedientas de sangre, debieron mostrar a personajes desesperados en su lucha contra la muerte y lamentablemente eso no lo vi, aunque debo decir que tanto en el segundo y final acto del film, la actuación de Smith es mejor aunque me hubiera gustado ver a este personaje aterrorizar aún más a sus víctimas.
The acting is not the best, I don't know what Jared Leto relies on to do his job, maybe here I can point to the director, screenwriters and even whoever did the editing of this film, because I would have liked to see more drama in the young and then adult versions of "Michel Morbius" and the desperation to find a cure for his disease, unfortunately that doesn't come across in either Leto's performance or that of Matt Smith who plays "Lucian", Michael's best friend who also suffers from a blood disease and is willing to do anything to get a cure; I think that between these two actors before showing their bloodthirsty versions, they should have shown desperate characters in their fight against death and unfortunately I didn't see that, although I must say that both in the second and final act of the film, Smith's performance is better although I would have liked to see this character terrorize his victims even more.
Después de ver Morbius entendí las críticas negativas; a primer momento no me gustó para nada el comienzo ni el fin de la película, pienso que al mostrar escenas en dónde comienza su investigación para después ir más atrás en su historia, pudo ser mejor si lo complementan con una narración, usar la voz del protagonista en dos de sus versiones que no solo ayuda a la evolución del personaje sino le da un mejor sentido a ambas escenas; creo que desde estás escenas son lo que desorienta al espectador porque no tienen sentido tal como son editadas y realizadas y para mí es un gran fallo a parte de una regular actuación y con un regular guion. Es una lástima que Leto trabaje nuevamente en un film basado en un personaje de comics y que a la vez sea víctima de productores que quieran copiar una fórmula exitosa en vez de crear algo nuevo y bueno, pero también debo decir que en esta oportunidad su actuación es mala, nada destacable y con esto digo que las críticas hacia él son aceptables, con ésto dicho tal vez sea muy difícil ver una secuela y creo que la única esperanza de ver nuevamente a este personaje es que sea aparezca en alguna otra película en un futuro próximo porque para el año que viene hasta tres películas estrenará Sony Pictures basadas en Spider-Man, dos dentro de este universo de villanos y posiblemente aliados del héroe arácnido y otro film enfocado en Miles Morales, pero pienso que habrá que esperar mucho tiempo para ver que deciden con esta historia del vampiro perteneciente a Marvel Comics.
After watching Morbius I understood the negative reviews; at first I did not like the beginning or the end of the movie, I think that showing scenes where he begins his investigation and then go further back in his story, could have been better if they complemented it with a narration, using the voice of the protagonist in two of its versions that not only helps the evolution of the character but gives a better sense to both scenes; I think that since these scenes are what disorients the viewer because they don't make sense as they are edited and performed and for me it's a big failure apart from a regular acting and with a regular script. It's a shame that Leto works again in a film based on a comic book character and at the same time is a victim of producers who want to copy a successful formula instead of creating something new and good, but I must also say that this time his performance is bad, nothing remarkable and with this I say that the criticism towards him is acceptable, with this said it may be very difficult to see a sequel and I think the only hope to see this character again is that he appears in another movie in the near future because next year Sony Pictures will release up to three films based on Spider-Man, two within this universe of villains and possibly allies of the arachnid hero and another film focused on Miles Morales, but I think we will have to wait a long time to see what they decide with this story of the vampire belonging to Marvel Comics.
