El esperado estreno de la secuela del exitoso film del 2017 sobre la heroína de DC Cómics no cumplió con las expectativas de algunos de sus aficionados... "Wonder Woman 1984"
El pasado 25 de diciembre, WB Pictures siguió un camino marcado por Disney y su plataforma de streaming al estrenar películas que originalmente deberían ser vista en las salas de cine, WW1984, que debió ser estrenada a finales del 2019, fue retrasando su estreno hasta mediados del año pasado pero la clausura de los cines por causa de la pandemia tuvo que retrasarla aún más, esto al final hizo que se tomara la decisión de estrenar este film en las salas de cine en Norteamérica y simultáneamente estrenarla en HBOMAX; una decisión criticada por cineastas, pero bien recibida por la gran cantidad de seguidores que tiene esta versión live-action sobre la principal heroína y que es considerado como una de las mejores cosas que se ha hecho en este universo de films basados en los héroes de DC Comics.

The long-awaited release of the sequel to DC Comics' successful 2017 heroin film did not satisfy the expectations of some of its fans... "Wonder Woman 1984"
Last December 25th, WB Pictures followed a path marked by Disney and its streaming platform by releasing movies that originally should have been seen in theaters, WW1984, which was supposed to be released at the end of 2019, was delaying its release until the middle of last year but the closing of theaters due to the pandemic had to delay it even more, this finally made the decision to release this film in theaters in North America and simultaneously release it in HBOMAX; a decision criticized by filmmakers, but well received by the large number of followers who have this live-action version of the main heroine and is considered one of the best things that has been done in this universe of films based on the heroes of DC Comics.
"WW84" nos relata la historia de Diana Prince en un mundo nuevo, muchos años después en dónde vimos su primera historia, en esta oportunidad vemos cómo sigue ayudando a muchas personas impartiendo justicia desde el anonimato siempre manteniendo de forma incógnita todos sus actos heroicos, pero en este mundo nuevo todo cambia muy rápido y el consumo es mucho mayor pareciendo que lo que deseas puede ser cumplido, esto hará que nuevos enemigos aparezcan y aprovechen el momento para poder obtener todo lo que han querido cómo es el dominio del mundo, esto hará que nuestra héroe deba decidir entre vivir lo que siempre ha querido o hacer lo correcto para el bien del mundo.
"WW84" tells us the story of Diana Prince in a new world, many years later where we saw her first story, this time we see how she continues to help many people by providing justice from anonymity, always keeping all her heroic acts unknown, but in this new world everything changes very fast and the consume is much bigger seeming that what you wish can be fulfilled, this will make that new enemies appear and take advantage of the moment to be able to obtain everything what they have wanted how is the dominion of the world, this will make that our hero must decide between living what he has always wanted or to do the right thing for the good of the world.
En este film Patty Jenkins toma un nuevo control sobre el desarrollo de esta historia, a pesar de repetir como directora, en esta oportunidad cumple el rol de ser co-creadora de la historia y el de escribir el guion junto a Geoff Johns y Dave Callaham; recordemos que el film anterior la historia era por parte de Allan Heinberg, Zack Snyder y Jason Fuchs, siendo el guionista Heinberg; la historia para este film es uno de los puntos positivos, todo lo que se trata de obtener o cumplir deseos de forma fácil, rápida como si fuera algo mágico creo que va muy bien en contarlos en una época como era los 80', un tiempo de alto consumo y que todo era muy promocionado por el gran alcance de la televisión y el nacimiento de los centros comerciales, a esto le puedo sumar la aparición de personalidades que con el uso de la palabra y carisma para que el público consuma sin saber que está comprando, para mí es una idea magnífica con todo lo que vemos del personaje principal en su añoranza por volver a vivir mejores momentos.
In this film Patty Jenkins takes a new control over the development of this story, despite repeating as director, this time she plays the role of co-creator of the story and writing the script together with Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham; remember that the previous film the story was by Allan Heinberg, Zack Snyder and Jason Fuchs, being the scriptwriter Heinberg; the story for this film is one of the positive points, everything that is about obtaining or fulfilling desires in an easy, quick way as if it were something magical I think it goes very well in telling them in an era like the 80's, a time of high consumerism and that everything was very promoted by the great reach of television and the birth of shopping malls, To this I can add the appearance of personalities that with the use of the word and charisma so that the public consumes without knowing that it is buying, for me it is a magnificent idea with all that we see of the main character in his longing to return to live moments that he considers the best of his life.
Los nuevos personajes también están bien representados en esta época, creo que uno más que el otro, "Max Lord" el cual siempre lo he visto como un vínculo que representa un mal mayor, es uno de los personajes que más me ha gustado en esta historia, Pedro Pascal hace un excelente trabajo, representa a esas personalidades que ví de niño en la tv, esas que con el don de la palabra e imagen te pueden hacer creer y vender cualquier cosa; es como si viera la unión de un hombre religioso, conductor de un show de tv, actor famoso, millonario y hasta político, una carisma impresionante, creo que este personaje es la mejor referencia a los 80' en este film; "Bárbara Minerva" también me gustó mucho, he leído opiniones que minimizan el desempeño de Kristen Wiig, creo que su personaje a pesar de tener importancia en esta secuela, creo que es tomado como lo que vimos de "Black Manta" en "Aquaman (2018)"; como villano debe tener una mejor y mayor desarrollo y espero que aparezca en las siguiente película, pero con respecto a esta parte, creo que podemos ver cómo una inocente, divertida mujer quiere experimentar la confianza que observa en otras personas y su deseo la llevará a perder lo que la hacía ser única y volverse algo que podrá alejarla de las personas que la rodean, el poder que debería darle confianza al final le dará odio, rabia y destrucción, para mi (sin entrar en polémica) es una representación de tiempos modernos en dónde parte de la sociedad pierde la humanidad para hacerse notar en una busqueda de ser mas fuertes para luchar en contra opresores; ambos villanos, víctimas de sus deseos, fueron bien representados y como ya dije espero que podamos ver en un futuro mucho más de Cheetah.
The new characters are also well represented at this time, I think that one more than the other, "Max Lord" which I have always seen as a link that represents a greater evil, is one of the characters that I liked most in this story, Pedro Pascal does an excellent job, he represents those personalities that I saw as a child on TV, those who with the gift of word and image can make you believe and sell anything; It's as if I saw the union of a religious man, a TV show host, a famous actor, a millionaire and even a politician, an impressive charisma, I think this character is the best reference to the 80's in this film; "Barbara Minerva" I also liked it a lot, I have read opinions that minimize the performance of Kristen Wiig, I think her character despite having importance in this sequel, I think it is taken as what we saw from "Black Manta" in "Aquaman (2018) "; as a villain she should have a better and greater development and I hope she will appear in the next movies, but regarding this part, I think we can see how an innocent, funny woman wants to experience the trust she sees in other people and her desire will lead her to lose what made her unique and become something that can take her away from the people around her, the power that should give him confidence in the end will give him hate, rage and destruction, for me (without entering into controversy) it is a representation of modern times where part of society loses its humanity to make itself noticed, in search of becoming strong to fight against oppressors; both villains, victims of her desires, were well represented and as I said I hope we can see in the future much more of Cheetah.
Ideas como mostrar a Diana en una época de consumo y que posiblemente los sueños se hagan realidad fue genial porque pudo unir a todos los personajes involucrados y no restarle importancia, pero de lo escrito al desarrollo en el film es donde se ve las falencias, la producción y el montaje final de las muchas escenas no fueron las mejores y hasta alguna de las actuaciones como las de Gal Gadot, se vieron disminuidas cuando compartió escenas con algunos de sus compañeros, esto para mí es lo negativo de este film en dónde no tanto en parte de su historia sino en el desarrollo final de lo que veremos no corresponde a lo que vimos en el anterior film, aquí ocurre lo contrario porque vemos un paso atrás, así lo vi yo y en dónde mi queja principal va por lo simple y repetitiva que fueron las escenas de acción, no se vio el empeño ni mucho menos las ganas de hacer algo que se sintiera épico, al contrario, todas fueron normales y hasta aburridas, creo que este no debió ser ese el camino para esta película y más cuando tenemos el enfrentamiento entre Wonder Woman y Cheetah, para mí debió ser algo con una mejor lucha y como ya he dicho, solo espero que en una secuela se haga justicia entre estas dos personajes.
A pesar de que las quejas que he leído de que si es muy infantil o llenas de cliché, creo que he visto peores películas basadas en comics y es que en realidad no considero WW84 como la peor, solo que las expectativas eran altas y no fueron respondidas, se enfocó mucho en hacer una clausura de lo visto en el anterior film y no sé busco dar un verdadero paso hacia adelante, si hay algo que he criticado en varios films del MCU es que termina siendo puentes para otras historias y al ver esto en este film esperado por muchos fans, me parece una pérdida de tiempo y esto ha hecho que muchos se sientan decepcionados; aplaudo las ganas de crear una buena historia con respecto al tiempo en dónde ocurre, aplaudo la influencia de muchos personajes basados en comics como por ejemplo escenas que son muy parecidas a las vista de "Superman 3" que aunque no es la mejor, creo que Jenkins tenían claro el tono que quería hacer su film, pero a pesar de hacer una historia con un claro mensaje de esperanza y humanidad, creo que si le falto poder crear momentos completamente heroicos e inolvidables; lo que en realidad espero que acepte las críticas, espero que mejore en su desempeño en dirigir, seguro por lo ocupada de su agenda en los próximos años deberá volver a relegar algo para una tercera entrega de Wonder Woman y espero que se recupere o se mejore las escenas de acción, que sean épocas y divertidas y mejor aún que la próxima historia sean en el tiempo actual.
Ideas such as showing Diana in a time of consumption and possibly dreams come true was great because it could unite all the characters involved and not detract from it, but from what is written to the development in the film is where you see the flaws, the production and final editing of the many scenes were not the best and even some of the performances as those of Gal Gadot, were diminished when he shared scenes with some of his colleagues, this for me is the negative of this film where not so much in part of its history but in the final development of what we will see does not correspond to what we saw in the previous film, Here the opposite happens because we see a step backwards, that's how I saw it and where my main complaint is about how simple and repetitive the action scenes were, we didn't see the commitment nor much less the desire to do something that felt epic, on the contrary, they were all normal and even boring, I think this should not have been the way for this movie and even more so when we have the confrontation between Wonder Woman and Cheetah, for me it should have been something with a better fight and as I said, I just hope that in a sequel we can see a better fight between these two characters.
Despite the complaints I've read that it's too childish or full of clichés, I think I've seen worse comic book-based movies and I don't really consider WW84 to be the worst, just that the expectations were high and were not met, focused a lot on making a closure of what was seen in the previous film and I don't know if I'm looking to take a real step forward, if there is something that I have criticized in several MCU films is that they end up being bridges to other stories and seeing this in this film expected by many fans, it seems to me a waste of time and this has made many feel disappointed; I applaud the desire to create a good story with respect to the time where it happens, I applaud the influence of many characters based on comics such as scenes that are very similar to the views of "Superman 3" that although not the best, I think Jenkins had clear the tone he wanted to make his film, but despite making a story with a clear message of hope and humanity, I think if he lacked the ability to create completely heroic and unforgettable moments; which I really hope he will accept the criticism, I hope he will improve his performance in directing, for sure because of his busy schedule in the next years he will have to put something aside again for a third installment of Wonder Woman and I hope that he will recover or improve the action scenes, that they will be times and fun and even better that the next story will be in the current time.
