Those who know me, know that I am a fan of movies and if it is based on a book I have read, even better, but if the book is a real fact... genius for my eyes. In this particular case, first I read the book, with which I identified myself because I was going through one of many emotional and mental storms somewhat similar; years later I discover this film, the only image of the poster with that simple word (they respected the original title of the book) took away any doubt or reason not to see it immediately.
It is Abzurdah (2015), the autobiography of Cielo Latini, a young Argentinean woman who meets the love -torment- of her life through the internet with whom she begins a long-distance relationship. This relationship becomes everything for her, since her environment is one of adults who do not attend to the needs of a teenager and her school friendships are totally empty. Little by little the relationship becomes more harmful and Cielo begins to notice that her love is not reciprocated but she is willing to fight for him although not in the best way, her solution was to stop eating and insist that Alejo (her love) would not leave her and love her, she even lowered herself to be with him being his lover (as she later learns that he is married). As she only gets a roller coaster in this toxic relationship, she also becomes an alcoholic until everything gets worse, she enters a strong crisis and commits suicide, although luckily, she is saved, treated and overcame it.
Yes, I know that many will think there is nothing different or extraordinary that calls attention, but it is precisely that: it is reality, it is not a fictional character doing spectacular maromas, it is a real girl going through real problems before an empty society that sees normal that she sheds her clothes and drinks to forget. Perhaps that's why it's not well known and has controversial reviews (from both pundits and audiences). And like any movie, it skips several things from the book, they have some metaphors to try to describe what really happened; also its plot is clear and precise, so if you do not understand at sight, you understand it with the dialogue; and although the film could have been better, it does not waste the essence of the book.
Really a story with which many will feel or felt (if they read the book or saw the movie) somehow identified, it is full of situations and strong emotions, I loved it and it made me reflect many things and change, so as I always say: if you have not seen it, see it and if you have already seen it, see it again, you can't miss it.
