COBRA KAI on NETFLIX - A visit from an old friend

Review by @nazirullsafry · 1883d · of Cobra Kai · 1 view

145444217_10159415625256042_8129936080718874132_n.jpg A kid in the 80s who can see himself in Daniel San facing challenges growing up and learning about karate - and about life, and seeing him again after about 30 years is like being visited by an old friend.

You right away sure he is the one you know from back in the day, without a doubt, right from the very handshake. It triggers the old vibes which you swear, as you closed your eyes, bring you that gut feeling back to the very days where it all happened.

Like when the old Cobra Kai’s Johnny Lawrence was brought back to his childhood days cycling the neighbourhood after he bumped into his old stereo walkman.

This is a deserving continuation of Daniel San’s ‘Hero’s journey’. He lost his way at one point so he returned to Mr. Miyagi’s grave to seek wisdom from whom it was found once.

Like Ben Kenobi’s voice echoes in Luke’s head on the Death Star, Daniel San got his voice of hope back from Mr. Miyagi, reminding him of the old forgotten lesson.

And Johnny Lawrence realising that there is no do-overs for a failed relationship with his son, Robby. So he makes it up by doing good on Miguel.

Also there is no do-over for a son who has failed his father. Hoping that he may one day find a way to make it up along the journey home, and finally deserving that voice of hope.

Loving Season 1. Moving to Season 2.

I enjoyed season 1, kind of liked season 2, and thought season 3 was pretty bad. I didn't even finish it. This has a lot to do with the fact that I don't particularly care for teenage actors - especially ones who do things very impractical like get a giant tattoo of a falcon or eagle or whatever that was on their back (that guy is just an awful actor.)
