SYNOPSIS: World-famous detective Benoit Blanc heads to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery surrounding a tech billionaire and his eclectic crew of friends.

REVIEW: "I like the Glass Onion as a metaphor. An object that seems densely layered, but in reality, the center is in plain sight."

The moment Detective Benoir Blanc says that (in a strange western accent) I am quite certain this is one of those films that talks about itself. Furthermore, the tech billionaire character called Miles Bron said he paid top dollar for a top writer to pull it off.

It shows how, if you put on a little bit of good-old, Sherlock-Holmes-ish curiosity into the current line of tv shows and films (and political bs lol), the whole 'glass onion' will come crumbling down upon itself.

It came to me as a surprise that Rian Johnson (who is a Judas amongst Star Wars fans) wrote and directed this (non-linear, Rashomon-esque), and has successfully 'subverted' my 'expectation'. Lol.

God save us from Miles Bron, "Elon Musk" archetype of producers who hires 'Save The Cat' generation of writers, believing they are the best in the business, who does it for their "messages", short-termed narcissistic agendas, and spectacle apart for a subtle, long-lasting substance.

To put Mona Lisa (a silent observer) into the equation, it is known that the expression you see on Mona Lisa is what you want to see. Hence a little bit like a mirror. Like how film is.

If you watch a controversial classic like The Ten Commandments and only see its blasphemous portrayal of Moses without seeing its historical cinematic achievement, it only speaks more of yourself and very less of the film.

Even though Mona Lisa is destroyed in the fire, she lives within Helen, together with Leonardo Da Vinci. There lies the commentary on the Old Masters and the self-grandiose 'Save The Cat' writers. Also on being a 'Benoir Blanc' or as U-Wei said, a 'penonton cerdik' (thinking audience).
