Slaxx
English Version
Hello community, the intention of this publication is to recommend two films totally opposite to each other in their subject matter but very entertaining, I do not make a judgment about whether they are good or bad films, I just consider that they have made me have a good time, let's start:
Slaxx
It is a Canadian film of the year 2020, which in 77 minutes of duration tells us about topics such as child exploitation in India, labor sectarianism, capitalism and consumer society, and youthful idealism.
All this in a surreal and bizarre tone that entertains and that goes from the supernatural to the social and from comedy to the gore genre and the pure and hard slasher.
The plot is about some cloth pants (Cotton and Jean) that seek to avenge the death of a Hindu girl overexploited in a cotton plant in India, owned by a transnational company that boasts of its methods in favor of the environment and life. The pants arrive at the department store where there will be a big event because of the revolutionary fact that these pants are self-adjusting.
Inside the department store converge the corporate guru, the spoiled influencer, the store workers one more obnoxious than the other, the manipulative and ill-intentioned store managers who would do anything to move up in the corporate ecosystem, the idealistic young woman and of course the bloodthirsty and vengeful killer dancing pants.
I laughed a lot with this nonsense, of course the film will not win Oscars, it is messy, and does not delineate its characters very well, but all in all it makes us think about the topics that touches and exposes satirically.
My other recommendation is :
Miracle in Cell No. 7.
It is the Turkish version of a 2013 South Korean film, which already has remakes in India, Philippines and Malaysia.
It is a very emotional melodrama where a disabled pastor (Memo) and his daughter (Ova) are separated because he is accused of killing the daughter of a military man (a crime he did not commit since the girl dies in an accident), for which he is sentenced to hang, but first he must go to jail, where he receives a beating by the prisoners in cell number 7. Given Memo's personality, they realize that he is a harmless being incapable of carrying out the atrocity of which he is accused and decide to reunite him with his daughter (Ova) who ends up winning the affection of the inmates (very dangerous criminals) who are in cell number 7. They will look for a way to get justice for Memo.
The film shows how the human being can go from the most brutal violence to the union and solidarity to help another human being. It talks about fatherhood, religions, justice, redemption, guilt and forgiveness. It has moments of comedy, tenderness and also very tearful. I am waiting to see the South Korean version to see what point of view is applied in that country on the same subject.
Both films couldn't be more different from each other, the first one horror and satire, and the second one a full-fledged melodrama. If we look between the lines, apart from entertaining, they make us think and discern, (each one in its own way), polemic and even philosophical themes and as I said in the beginning they fulfill the function of entertaining.
Thank you very much for reading my opinions community, and to you, if you have already seen the movies, did you like them?
If you haven't seen them I recommend them and draw your own conclusions. See you next time.
English is not my native language so I use the translator DeepL.
