Hello friends, welcome to my blog, for me it is a pleasure to participate in this contest again, especially since this genre of movies is one of my favorites, space. One of the first movies I saw in this genre was Contact, based on the only Carl Sagan novel of the same name, about a scientist named Dr. Ellie Arroway, who tirelessly seeks to prove that we are not the only ones in the universe. The film, directed by Robert Zemeckis, with a cast led by Jodie Foster, Matthew McConaughe, Jena Malone, Tom Skerritt, David Morse, William Fichtner, James Woods and others, is for me one of the best movies to date from space.

Hola amigos, bienvenidos a mi blog, para mí es un placer volver a participar en este concurso, sobre todo porque este género de películas es uno de mis favoritos, el espacio. Una de las primeras películas que vi de este género fue Contacto, basada en la única novela de Carl Sagan del mismo nombre, trata sobre una científica de nombre Dra. Ellie Arroway, quien incansablemente busca probar que no somos los únicos en el universo. La cinta, dirigida por Robert Zemeckis, con un reparto encabezado por Jodie Foster, Matthew McConaughe, Jena Malone, Tom Skerritt, David Morse, William Fichtner, James Woods y otros, es para mí unas de las mejores películas hasta ahora del espacio.

Since I was a girl of 6 or 7 years old, I used to go up to the roof of my house by a ladder that my father had to see the stars at night, I would stay there for hours, looking at the stars and wondering what was open there in the dark sky. Despite my young age my imagination flew, I wanted to touch the stars and go to the moon. At that age I did not know anything about science or if it was possible or not to go, but I wanted to do it, I think that from that moment my fascination and curiosity for everything that had to do with space remained. When I saw the movie Contact, 1997, I was already older and my passion for space had been dormant for years, seeing this tape woke up that girl who dreamed of going to see the stars.

Desde que era una niña de 6 o 7 años me subía al techo de mi casa por una escalera que mi padre tenía para ver las estrellas en la noche, me quedaba horas allí, mirando las estrella y preguntándome que abría allá en el cielo oscuro. A pesar de mi corta edad mi imaginación volaba, quería tocar las estrellas e ir a la luna. A esa edad no sabía nada de ciencia o si era posible o no ir, pero quería hacerlo, creo que desde ese momento me quedo mi fascinación y curiosidad por todo lo que tuviera que ver con el espacio. Cuando vi la película Contacto, 1997, ya era mayor y mi pasión por el espacio hacía años estaba dormida, ver de esta cinta despertó a esa niña que soñaba con ir a conocer las estrellas.

I have always believed that we are not the only ones in the universe, that there must be something else outside, the universe is too extensive to think that it is so, now proving it is something else. Contact, gives us, through a scientist (Dr. Arroway), that possibility and gives us a moral, ethical, political and religious panorama of what it would be like if this happened. One of the things that this film taught me is that beyond knowing whether or not there is life on other planets, yes, we are capable of understanding and assuming responsibility as a society for having contact with beings from other planets. The different interests of the world, economic, political and religious, will do anything to seize what is discovered if it gives them an advantage over other nations.

Siempre he creído que no somos los únicos en el universo, que debe haber fuera algo más, el universo es demasiado extenso para pensar que sea así, ahora probarlo es otra cosa. Contacto, nos da, a través de una científica (Dra. Arroway), esa posibilidad y nos da un panorama moral, ético, político y religioso de como sería sí esto pasara. Unas de las cosas que esta película me enseño es que más allá de saber o no si existe vida en otros planetas, es sí, estamos en capacidad, entender y asumir la responsabilidad como sociedad de tener contacto con seres de otros planetas. Los distintos intereses del mundo, económicos, políticos y religiosos, harán lo que sea por apoderarse de lo que se descubra si esto les da una ventaja sobre otras naciones.

One of the coolest things about this movie is the beginning, giving us a glimpse of the planets, Alpha Centauri star system, the Eagle Nebula and a glimpse of the Milky Way, the universe all the way to a little girl in front of a microphone a radio transmitter, who is our protagonist Dr. Arroway (Foster), whose character is inspired by the scientist Dr. Jill Tarter, creator of SETI. Scientific organization that is in charge of the search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. We see how this scientist fights with the unbelievers to prove that she has in her hands what could be the world's first extraterrestrial contact, in addition to fighting for her research to be taken into account. Her struggle within the scientific world reminds us of what the majority of women suffer in fields of work dominated by men and that are not common for them, which means that they must fight more for their research to be accepted.

Una de las cosas más geniales de esta cinta es el comienzo, al darnos un vistazo de los planetas, sistema estelar Alfa Centauri, la nebulosa del Águila y un vistazo a la Vía Láctea, el universo hasta llegar a una niña frente a un micrófono de un radiotransmisor, quién es nuestra protagonista Dra. Arroway (Foster), cuyo personaje está inspirado en la científica Dra. Jill Tarter, creadora del SETI. Organización científica que se encarga de la búsqueda de Inteligencia Extraterrestre. Vemos como esta científica lucha con los incrédulos para probar que tiene en sus manos lo que podría ser el primer contacto extraterrestre del mundo, además de luchar para que sea tomada en cuenta su investigación. Su lucha dentro del mundo científico nos recuerda lo que sufren las mayorías de las mujeres en campos de trabajo dominado por hombres y que no son comunes para ellas, lo que hace que deban luchar más para que sean aceptadas sus investigaciones.

Contact impacted me because it showed me that the possibility of discovering life on other planets, which is closer every day, and whether or not they are prepared for it, will happen at some point in the future. The implications that, if this happens, it would trigger in the world and if we will be mature enough as a society to understand the relevance of this fact, in addition to the possible dangers that this may entail, because there are many scientists opposed to sending messages to space, They have declared that it can be dangerous if we contact beings more evolved than us and we are sending them an invitation to conquer us. Both approaches are valid because we are facing the unknown. I believe that more research should be done, but it should be done responsibly and carefully.

Contacto me impacto porque me demostró que la posibilidad de que se descubra vida en otros planetas que, cada día, está más cerca, y que preparados o no para ello, en algún momento futuro sucederá. Las implicaciones que, si esto pasa, desencadenaría en el mundo y si seremos los suficientes maduros como sociedad para entender la relevancia de este hecho, además de los posibles peligros que este puede conllevar, porque hay muchos científicos contrarios a que enviemos mensajes al espacio, han declarado que puede ser peligroso si contactamos con seres más evolucionados que nosotros y les estemos enviando una invitación para conquistarnos. Ambos planteamientos son válidos porque nos enfrentamos a lo desconocido. Creo que se debe seguir investigando, pero se debe hacer con responsabilidad y cuidado.

Finally, the movie Contact marked a before and after in this genre, it taught us the importance of science and we learned a little about quantum physics and wormholes, the negative or positive in the world if this happened. For this reason, this film is special to me. It is one of the most real and reliable that has been filmed in the cinema. Yes, you haven't seen it yet, do it, many of the theories that we saw there today are still valid.

Finalmente, la película Contacto, marcó un antes y después en este género, nos enseñó la importancia de la ciencia y aprendimos un poco de física cuántica y los agujeros de gusano, lo negativo o positivo en el mundo si esto ocurriera. Por esto para mí esta película es especial. Es una de las más reales y fidedignas que se haya filmado en el cine. Sí, aún no la viste, hazlo, muchas de las teorías que allí vimos hoy siguen siendo vigentes.
