Directed by Daniel Graham and co-written by Matt Hookings, it tells us about the life of a man who, despite his circumstances, would become a boxing legend, when boxing was considered a sport of kings and aristocracy.

Hola amigos, bienvenidos a mi blog, luego de ver últimamente películas de acción y terror, me antoje de un drama, me llamo la atención esta cinta de un boxeador inglés de finales del siglo XIX, que está basada en una historia verdadera de quien fuera uno de los más grandes pugilistas en el Reino Unido, James Belcher. Dirigida por Daniel Graham y coescrita por Matt Hookings, nos cuenta la vida de un hombre que a pesar de sus circunstancias se convertiría en una leyenda del boxeo, cuando este era considerado como un deporte de reyes y la aristocracia.

Algo interesante es que poco se sabía de la era del boxeo en el Reino Unido y lo prestigioso que era en esos tiempos, me llamo poderosamente la atención que las peleas importantes solo eran vistas por la nobleza y aristocracia. Esta cinta nos muestra de manera cruda lo que significaba ser boxeador en ese tiempo.

Her mother, Mary Belcher (Jodhi May), tries to prevent her from becoming what her father (Russell) was, but she sees it as her son with fame and excesses. The tape tells us in a real way the consequences and rewards of being the best in boxing.

También nos muestra los excesos al hacerse famoso, los adulantes y como la eres considerado una estrella en la sociedad a pesar de los orígenes pobres y de donde vienes, cosa que aun hoy en día pasa. Vemos como es Lord Rushworth (Marton), lo lleva por el camino de las fiestas desenfrenadas, apuestas y bebidas. James (Matt) no escapa a las tentaciones y más siendo tan joven, con apenas 19 años. Su madre, Mary Belcher (Jodhi May), trata de evitar que se convierta en lo que fue su padre (Russell), pero ve como su hijo con la fama y los excesos se va convirtiendo en eso. La cinta nos va hilando de manera real las consecuencias y recompensas de ser el mejor en el boxeo.

The film, in my opinion, is very real and can be applied to what happens with many stars in any sport that comes from below, who with only their talent and skills triumph to become champions, but it also shows us the temptations and excesses that that he has to face. Here we see that and also the ability after falling to get up again. This is a true story and I loved that because this man went from being a nobody to being a legend in his area.

La película a mi parecer es muy real y se puede aplicar a lo que pasa con muchas estrellas en cualquier deporte que viene de abajo, que con solo su talento y habilidades triunfa para convertirse en campeón, pero también nos muestra las tentaciones y excesos a lo que tiene que enfrentarse. Acá vemos eso y también la capacidad luego de caer en levantarte de nuevo. Esta es una historia verdadera y eso me encantó porque este hombre paso de ser nadie a ser una leyenda en su área.

James Belcher was called the Pitt or Wellington, because he wore a scarf with blue and white spots tied around his neck, something that characterized him in his fights and that today is commemorated as a garment, Belcher. James dies at the age of 30, still very young as a result of the lessons of his fights and the lifestyle he led. I liked the movie, it's well put together, it has great moments and the performances are top notch. If you haven't seen it yet, it's really worth it.

James fallece a los 30 años, aun siendo muy joven como consecuencias de las lecciones de sus peleas y al estilo de vida que llevo. La película me gusto, está bien hilada, tiene momentos grandiosos y las actuaciones son de primera. Si aún no la has visto hazlo de verdad vale la pena.
