Hello friends, welcome to my blog, today I want to tell you about a film based on real events of one of the most recognized Greenland arctic explorers of the 20th century. Ejnar Mikkelsen, who was born in 1880, on the Jutland Peninsula, in Denmark. He was a great polar explorer and author of great books, who showed an interest in exploring and traveling since he was a child. One of the best-known anecdotes about him is that when he was only 16 years old, he walked 515 kilometers from Stockholm to Gothenburg, to meet his idol, Salomón August Andrée, and ask him to take his expedition to the North Pole with him, which failed and ended in the death of him.

Ejnar Mikkelsen, quien nació en 1880, en la Península de Jutlandia, en Dinamarca. Fue un gran explorador polar y autor de grandes libros, quien desde niño mostró interés de explorar y viajar. Una de sus anécdotas más conocidas es que con tan solo 16 años camino 515 kilómetros desde Estocolmo hasta Gotemburgo, para conocer a su ídolo, Salomón August Andrée y pedirle que llevara con él a su expedición al Polo Norte, que falló y terminó en su muerte.
Ejnar was a man who from a young age embarked on the adventure of exploring and despite the fact that his feats are extraordinary in a time where there was no technology today, he achieved what seemed impossible and made it possible. This tape only shows one of his exploits, without deepening the life of this man; his expedition to Greenland in 1909 to prove that Denmark owned the lands in dispute with the USA. He along with his crew and on the wooden ship, "Alabama", arrived at Shannon Island. His mission is to rescue and locate the remains of the Denmark expedition of Mylius-Erichsen and the cartographer Niels Peter Hoeg Hagen.

This film is directed by Peter Flinth, who takes us on a survival drama and struggle of two men alone in the most adverse conditions possible. Ejnar (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), the captain and explorer of the Alabama, will embark on an adventure that, together with the ship's mechanic Iver (Joe Cole), will live dangerous moments to try to fulfill their mission and return to the waiting ship on time. . The film is full of tense moments where both men must test their will, sanity and strength to move forward.
Esta película es dirigida por Peter Flinth, quién nos lleva en un drama de supervivencia y lucha de dos hombres solos en las condiciones más adversas posibles. Ejnar (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), el capitán y explorador del Alabama, se embarcará en una aventura que junto al mecánico del barco Iver (Joe Cole), vivirán momentos peligrosos para tratar de cumplir su misión y regresar a tiempo al barco que los espera. La cinta esta llena de momentos tensos en donde ambos hombres deberán poner a prueba su voluntad, cordura y fuerza para seguir adelante.
I liked the film because it credibly portrays the experiences of these expeditionaries and the psychological consequences they suffer from loneliness, the possibility of dying and leaving behind what they love. If I have something negative to say, it would be that they did not talk about this extraordinary explorer Ejnar, but only told one of his exploits. Having told a little more about the man and how he was chosen for this mission would have added a plus to the film. Despite that, the tape is solid and tells a magnificent story.
Me gusto la película porque retrata de manera creíble, las vivencias de estos expedicionarios y las secuelas psicológicas que padecen ante la soledad, la posibilidad de morir y dejar atrás lo que aman. Si algo tengo que decir negativo sería que no hablaron de este extraordinario explorador Ejnar, sino que solo contaran una de sus hazañas. El haber contado un poco más del hombre y como fue escogido para esta misión le hubiera agregado un plus a la película. A pesar de eso la cinta es solida y cuenta una historia magnifica.
The only woman on the film is Naja Holm (Heida Reed), who will be Ejnar's great love and who, in his delusions, will give him a little peace in his loneliness. Other actors include Charles Dance (as the Prime Minister), Edward Speleers, Sam Redford, and others. This movie is a bit slow in my opinion, but not bad, the pace is right for a movie about survival. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it. My rating 7 out of 10.
La única mujer en la cinta es Naja Holm (Heida Reed), quien será el gran amor de Ejnar y quién en sus delirios le dará un poco de paz en su soledad. Otros actores son Charles Dance (como el primer ministro), Edward Speleers, Sam Redford y otros. Esta película es algo lenta en mi opinión, pero no por ello mala, el ritmo es el adecuado para una película que se trata de supervivencia. Si aun no la has visto te la recomiendo. Mi calificación 7 de 10.
