Hola comunidad de Hive, hoy quiero hablarles de una película que fue estrenada en 1997, dirigida por uno de los directores más exitosos de los 90´s, Robert Zemickis, el mismo de Forrest Gump solo por nombrar una, con un reparto de actores de primera línea como: Jodie Foster, Matthew McConaughey, James Woods, Tom Skerritt, William Fichtner, John Hurt, Angela Bassett, Jake Busey y David Morse. Esta cinta está basada en el libro del mismo nombre “Contact”, escrito por Carl Sagan, quien fuera un famoso astrónomo, cosmólogo y astrofísico.

La cinta trata de uno de los temas que miles de personas particulares y científicos nos preguntamos ¿Somos los únicos en el universo? ¿Existe vida inteligente en otros planetas? ¿Es posible contactarlos? Son interrogantes que la humanidad durante siglos se pregunta y que tiene sus implicaciones religiosas. Hago un paréntesis para recordarle que han pasado 24 años desde que se estreno esta película por lo tanto sino la has visto hazlo situándote en esa época y como era el pensamiento y la sociedad en ese momento, porque, aunque nos parezca imperceptible la sociedad es dinámica y lo que antes se veía mal o tabú, hoy no lo es. Ahora las teorías de vida extraterrestre y los avistamientos de OVNIS son más comunes y aceptados de los que fueron hace 20 años atrás.

La película cuenta de como una científica, Eleanor Arroway (Jodie), que ha centrado toda su vida en la búsqueda de señales de inteligencia extraterrestre, desde pequeña Eleonor perdió la fe en Dios y solo cree en el método científico para contestar las preguntas que no entiende. Su investigación de ondas de radio un día tienen respuesta al descubrir una señal desconocida que deberá descifrar y en donde recibirá instrucciones de como fabricar una maquina que le permita reunirse con quienes enviaron el mensaje. Este descubrimiento causará alboroto no solo en el mundo científico, sino en el religioso, moviendo los cimientos en la creencia de Dios como el creador del hombre y el universo. A pesar que la cinta muestra los diferentes puntos de vista de ambos bandos (los que creen y los que no), lo hace sin profundizar solo de manera ambigua, dejando al espectador sacar sus propias conclusiones.

Acá comienzan una serie de situaciones en donde la investigación será tomada por el gobierno y la puesta en marcha para tratar de contactar con quien o quienes enviaron la señal, sin hacer spoiler, la película explora como la noticia convulsiona la sociedad y como son las reacciones de los distintos bandos (sociedad civil, religiosa y gobierno). Eleanor tendrá que luchar para hacer valer sus puntos de vista en el proyecto, sobre todo los obstáculos que se le irán presentando durante el descubrimiento de la señal y la fabricación de la máquina. Se le presentara el amor en la persona menos pensada con quien chocaran sus valores científicos y los que él representa. Una cinta que tiene ingredientes que no te harán despegarte del asiento y que te hará reflexionar.

De todas las películas de ciencia y el espacio esta sin lugar a dudas es una de las mejores de todos los tiempos, porque pone en el tapete de manera inteligente lo que podría ser confirmar vida inteligente en otro planeta y sus repercusiones en la sociedad. Una pregunta que sigue siendo una interrogante, para aquellos que somos neutrales con mente abierta, un NO rotundo para aquellos que son religiosos y un sí para aquellos que creen sin dudar que hay muchas pruebas (no confirmadas), que no estamos solos en el universo. Si aun no has visto esta película te invito hacerlo porque realmente vale la pena. Para mi es un 10 de 10.
