I love Owen Wilson, I’ve seen most of his movies, the most recent being Loki when he starred as Morbius. It was very entertaining to see him join the marvel cinematic universe but honestly, I wasn’t impressed with this movie at all. I’m a big fan, I get excited whenever I see him on the cover of a movie and I guess that’s what happened this time. I got too excited and I got let down. I’m not saying it’s the worst movie of the year, it certainly can not take that title but in my opinion, this is not his best, not even close. It’s no wonder they have a 4.9/10 rating on IMDb.
Although entertaining, the trailer gave away most of the plot already but I didn’t want to judge a movie based off a trailer.
Secret headquarters is an American superhero movie, directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman that aired on the 12th of August 2022. It stars Owen Wilson and some other familiar faces like Michael Pena (you might from Antman and Dora and the lost city of Gold). It also stars rising kid actor, Walker Scobell. He recently starred as the past self of Ryan Reynold's character in the movie, “The Adams project”. He has a long way to go but I can see him doing well in the industry.
It stars a lot of other kid actors but I haven’t seen them in another movie before so I don’t know what they’re like.
I can’t tell you I learnt anything from this movie, it isn’t one of those, it’s just entertaining to watch. No moments of self reflection or things like that. I personally would place this under the kid’s movie tag because everything was pretty straight forward but I’ll leave the rest of my opinion after the plot of the movie. Before that, I just want to say the movie isn’t unwatchable, it just didn’t live up to my expectations at all.
Secret Headquarters
Jack Kincaid is chosen by an alien artifact to become The Guard, the protector of the earth but this comes with a cost, he barely has enough time for Charlie, his son. Charlie stays over at Jacks place to celebrate his birthday but duty doesn’t get to spend time with his father because of his duties as the Guard. He leaves Charlie with the freedom to have some friends over. While exploring the house, they find a secret super hero cave and discover Jack is The Guard. It’s all fun and games using the gargets found in the cave until, it leads Sean Irons, Argon’s lead mercenary (Argon is a company bent on finding The Guard’s power source and use it for their own benefits) right to them.
They infiltrate the house and hold the kids captive. Jack finds out and rushes to the house in an attempt to rescue them. He manages to save them but in doing so leaves Argon with the power source. Do they stop Sean or does he use the power source? What happens to Jack and Charlie’s relationship. I don’t want you to have any spoilers so you’ll have to watch it to find out but this movie is not coming highly recommended from me.
My Opinion
I’m pretty sure you can tell how I feel about this movie from the start. The acting was good no doubt, it wasn’t great but it was good but not great. Good casting too, it gave other actors and actresses a chance to shine so maybe that’s a win on their part. The color contrast of the movie was good too and the editing was good.
Honestly if we look at those little things then the movie was okay but looking at the writing and general plot then it’s a no from me. I know the directors and producers know it isn’t winning any awards anytime soon. There was a lot of scenes with bad writing, parts where you watch and go, “really???’. Like a scene where a girl punched in 9985 combinations just in time to save her friends from getting crushed but didn’t make any mistake during that time.
I could list a couple of other scenes like that but it would mean I give up most of the plot. The storyline was straight forward. You could easily predict how most of it would go. The dialogue too wasn’t the best thing I’ve seen all year, straight forward.
My junior brother seemed to like it though, he laughed throughout the movie and asked if he could see it again so it would make and excellent entry for a kid’s movie. Maybe I am not giving this movie enough credit, I didn’t enjoy it and because of that, I was always looking for mistakes. All actors should be given a chance to star in other roles outside of what we know them for but this movie didn’t put me on the edge, there are no scenes I want to rewatch. It was just another 2 hours of my life I wasn’t getting back. Don’t let this stop you from seeing it though, you might have a different view on things. Like I said, my junior brother was in love with it so maybe I just needed to see it from a kid’s perspective. If you’re just looking for something to entertain yourself with while you find what to watch, you can see the secret headquarters but I’m leaving it with a 5/10 rating and if you have seen it already, do let me know what you thought of it, I’d like to get different people’s views on it.

Me encanta Owen Wilson, he visto la mayoría de sus películas, la más reciente fue Loki cuando protagonizó a Morbius. Fue muy entretenido verlo unirse al universo cinematográfico de marvel pero honestamente, no me impresionó para nada esta película. Soy un gran fan, me emociono cada vez que lo veo en la portada de una película y creo que eso fue lo que pasó esta vez. Me emocioné demasiado y me decepcionó. No digo que sea la peor película del año, desde luego no puede llevarse ese título pero en mi opinión, no es su mejor, ni de lejos. No es de extrañar que tenga una calificación de 4,9/10 en IMDb.
Aunque es entretenida, el tráiler ya delataba la mayor parte de la trama pero no quería juzgar una película basándome en un tráiler.

No puedo decir que haya aprendido nada de esta película, no es de esas, solo es entretenida de ver. No hay momentos de autorreflexión ni cosas por el estilo. Personalmente la colocaría bajo la etiqueta de película para niños porque todo fue bastante directo, pero dejaré el resto de mi opinión después de la trama de la película. Antes de eso, sólo quiero decir que la película no es imposible de ver, sólo que no estuvo a la altura de mis expectativas en absoluto.
La sede central secreta de la CIA
Jack Kincaid es elegido por un artefacto alienígena para convertirse en La Guardia, el protector de la tierra pero esto tiene un coste, apenas tiene tiempo para Charlie, su hijo. Le deja a Charlie la libertad de invitar a unos amigos. Mientras exploran la casa, encuentran una cueva secreta de superhéroes y descubren que Jack es El Guardia. Todo es diversión y juegos usando los objetivos encontrados en la cueva hasta que, conduce a Sean Irons, el mercenario principal de Argon (Argon es una compañía empeñada en encontrar la fuente de poder de La Guardia y usarla para sus propios beneficios) justo hacia ellos.
Se infiltran en la casa y mantienen a los niños cautivos. Jack lo descubre y acude a la casa para intentar rescatarlos. Consigue salvarlos pero al hacerlo deja a Argon con la fuente de energía. ¿Detendrán a Sean o éste utilizará la fuente de energía? ¿Qué pasa con la relación de Jack y Charlie? No quiero que tengas ningún spoiler así que tendrás que verla para averiguarlo pero esta película no viene muy recomendada por mi parte.
Mi opinión
Estoy bastante seguro de que se puede decir lo que siento acerca de esta película desde el principio. La actuación fue buena sin duda, no fue grandiosa pero fue buena pero no grandiosa. El casting también fue bueno, le dio a otros actores y actrices la oportunidad de brillar así que tal vez eso es un triunfo de su parte. El contraste de colores de la película fue bueno también y el montaje fue bueno.
Sinceramente si nos fijamos en esas pequeñas cosas entonces la película estaba bien pero viendo la escritura y la trama general entonces es un no por mi parte. Sé que los directores y productores saben que no va a ganar ningún premio pronto. Había muchas escenas mal escritas, partes en las que uno miraba y decía "¿en serio?". Como una escena en la que una chica hace 9985 combinaciones justo a tiempo para salvar a sus amigos de ser aplastados, pero no cometió ningún error durante ese tiempo.
Podría enumerar un par de escenas más como esa, pero significaría que renuncio a la mayor parte de la trama. El argumento era sencillo. Se podía predecir fácilmente cómo iría la mayor parte de ella. Los diálogos tampoco fueron lo mejor que he visto en todo el año, directos.
Sin embargo, a mi hermano menor pareció gustarle, se rió durante toda la película y preguntó si podía volver a verla, así que sería una excelente entrada para una película infantil. Tal vez no le estoy dando suficiente crédito a esta película, no la disfruté y por eso, siempre estaba buscando errores. Todos los actores deberían tener la oportunidad de protagonizar otros papeles fuera de lo que les conocemos pero esta película no me puso al límite, no hay escenas que quiera volver a ver. Solo fueron otras 2 horas de mi vida que no iba a recuperar. Sin embargo, no dejes que esto te impida verla, puede que tengas una visión diferente de las cosas. Como dije, mi hermano menor estaba enamorado de ella, así que tal vez sólo necesitaba verla desde la perspectiva de un niño. Si sólo buscas algo con lo que entretenerte mientras encuentras qué ver, puedes ver la sede secreta, pero la dejo con una calificación de 5/10 y si ya la has visto, hazme saber qué te pareció, me gustaría conocer las opiniones de diferentes personas al respecto.
