When it popped up on the top of my "Home" page I immediately dismissed it without even reading the description or watching the trailer. Despite my attempts to get it off my radar, it was there at the top the following day, and the day after that.
In a moment of frustration I decided to give the show a shot and watch the first episode hoping that doing so would convince Netflix to leave me alone about this show but now that I have binge watched the entire thing, I am very happy that Netflix was so insistent. This is a very nicely done series.
I figured that the show was going to be something like "Glee" or one of those movies about dancing... Basically I thought it was going to be something silly that appeals to only teenagers. I was extremely wrong.
The show is about a very small junior college in Texas that routinely wins the biggest cheerleading competitions in the United States despite the fact that they have a much smaller budget and almost no notoriety. People from all over the country consider this to be the BEST place to go if you are interested in the best of the best in cheerleading.
Does it still sound stupid to you? Well, it did to me so just hear me out.
The reason why this show is good is not because I am all of a sudden super impressed with cheerleading, it is because of the real-life characters who are in this show. The people the focus on the most mostly come from troubled backgrounds and their passion of cheer competition is likely the only thing keeping many of them out of prison.
In episode one I was just halfway watching as i was cleaning my living room.... by episode three i was staring at the screen saying to myself "Dammit Gabi, you got to land this - you've been practicing this for weeks!" and "Jerry better make the team or I'm gonna be so pissed!"
You get emotionally attached to the people in this, and this is coming from someone (me) who had no idea that so much went into this sport and how unbelievably talented the participants are.
[src](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhXRx_lva18)I'm not saying that I am now going to start watching competitive cheerleading, because that definitely is not the case. However, the way this was filmed is done so brilliantly that I can all but guarantee that you are going to get hooked on this show. It's only 6 episodes long and I watched almost all of them back-to-back.
It's simply an amazing ride.....
