Guest appearances on Trailer Park Boys kind of suck

Review by @netflixr ⭐ 🏆#186 🎵9 🎬300 📺171 · 1886d · of Trailer Park Boys

I love Trailer Park Boys. I think it is magnificent that 3 guys got together with nearly no money and made a tv show that has become and international sensation. If you are familiar with the story then you already know that there isn't really a story there but rather it is just the interactions between rather low-class people in a trailer park in Canada where the residents basically just live in a very lawless fashion and most of what they do revolves around smoking weed and getting drunk.

They "celebrate" for almost any reason and spend all of their time high. They try to do legitimate work but for one reason or another all of the stuff they try to that is legal ends up falling apart. Therein lies the humor, they are dysfunctional and incapable of living "normal lives" yet all of them seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that basically all that they do in their lives is illegal.

and even though I don't even know anyone like this, I love the show and so does almost everyone else I know that has seen it.

I haven't seen every single episode of the series yet, although I am sure I will eventually get around to it and there have only been a handful of episodes that honestly, I could do without. Two of those episodes happen when Tom Arnold, Snoop Dog, and some other guy that I guess I am supposed to know who he is but I don't, appear on the show.

They turn up because of an internet special that Bubbles put online about a special at their newly made "resort" that has a casino and a drunk Rickey says "all the weed you can smoke" and Snoop and his pals thought this meant that it was included in the price of the resort.

The problem with these episodes are multiple, but the main ones being that Snoop, and whoever the other guy is are not good actors. Tom Arnold actually is a good actor but he breaks the 4th wall constantly by talking to the cameras and speaking about the Trailer Park Boys as being television stars instead of them just being some guys in a trailer park.

You see, the idea behind the show is that it is a fake documentary of sorts like Modern Family where they give testimonials between segments. They aren't actually meant to be world-famous even though they are in real life When Tom Arnold keeps going on about how much he knows everyone in the park - the way that a fan of the show like me feels about them - it kind of ruins the ambiance of the show.

It all comes to a terrible climax when Bubbles is performing at a live music competition in town and Snoop Dogg and everyone else comes on stage to help him when he starts messing up (as we all knew he was going to - because that is part of his personality) and the performance they put on is beyond terrible. The actor that plays Ricky (Rob Wells) cant stop posing with this uncomfortable grin on his face during the performance.

Thankfully, most of these guys were only in the one episode and only Snoop occasionally makes an appearance later in other episodes.

Of all the Trailer Park Boys episodes that I have seen these 2 episodes, and especially the one with the musical number are the only ones I have ever not liked and while I have not seen the rest of them in their entirety, I am hopeful that it was a one-off.

It takes away from the overall ambiance and it simply wasn't good. I don't know what the opinions of the writers and main stars of the show was about these episodes but I hope they also didn't like them and don't plan on doing them again.

Guest stars can be a lot of fun and other series did them very well - Friends comes to mind immediately, but they really don't belong in this series and I hope they don't use them very much more.

By the way if you haven't seen any Trailer Park Boys, I highly suggest you change that. At least 5 of the 12 seasons are available for streaming on Netflix in most regions right now.

i was recently turned on to this series by a pal that insisted that I absolutely must see it. We now talk to one another in Rickey-isms. I haven't gotten to any guest appearances yet but I only ever watch it every now and then

Hehehe I also love Trailer Park Boys! It's really a one of a kind show

Even the new animated series is pretty good, although doesn't come close to the real thing.
