This recently added Vince Vaughn film shows a lot of promise in the preview and with a decent cast of characters and actors expectations for humor are setting the bar pretty high. Unfortunately, in the end this film follows a typical comedy path and basically isn't worth watching.
VInce Vaughn has a very specific role that he plays in comedy films (which is a vast majority of his work) in that he plays a somewhat intimidating and fast-talking character who tends to be a leader. Unfortunately, the path that his character takes in nearly every film that he is in the trajectory is exactly the same. First he inspires a bunch of people to follow him along some particular path.
[src](https://images2.static-bluray.com/reviews/12031_5.jpg)They are enamored by his leadership and this results at first in what the group considers to be complete disaster, of which Vaughn doesn't make the rest of the team immediately aware of it. Then when he does tell them that "they're done," the team, who previously were just a bunch of misfits, accidentally pull of some long shot something or other and get the job done in a bizarre way. The odd path that they take to get to their final destination of victory is supposed to be funny and in some situations in this film and other Vaughn films, that ends up being the case.
I know that what i've just said there is very vague but that is precisely what happens in this rather boring film about a sales rep who decides to go at it on his own after becoming frustrated with his employer. The fact that they introduce cultural differences of Germany vs. USA unfortunately is more uncomfortable than it is funny. It is also probably completely lacking in factuality.
Almost universally panned by professional critics and the general public this box-office bomb lost $20 million before advertising costs are even factored in. The trailer does a good job of convincing potential viewers that there might be some redeeming qualities contained in the film - I was actually excited about seeing it. However, it is all for naught: This is one of the worst comedies I have seen in a while and can not recommend it to anyone. Give it a miss!
