The suicide squad. An unnecessary movie.

Review by @niallon11 · 1628d · of The Suicide Squad

Why would you watch "The Suicide Squad?"

There is no good reason to watch it to be fair. Not that I'm saying it's a bad movie. There was just no reason to make it at all.

Firstly we had "Suicide Squad.", a ragtag bunch of supervillans or powered people that are forced to work together and do good under coercion. It had a big cast and superhero movies are always an easy sell right now.

I was a little underwhelmed. The idea is brilliant, the cast was top notch but the story line and acting was just poor. The actors made the most out of it but there was not much to work with. The two that stood out were will smith and margot robbie as interesting characters. They made it almost worthwhile.

Then cam "Harley Quinn, birds of prey." a follow up on the best charater from the first movie. This one i really enjoyed. They took harley and gave her a real storyline and room to play with. It was fast and funny unlike the first movie. The cast were smaller and less fmaous but they had more to work with.

Then we have this......

The suicide Squad.

It still has a good cast with Idris Elba and John Cena coming into it along with a few existing charaters form the military side. It just had no reason to exist other than for money.

I haven't read the back story behind the movie but i can only hope that it was meant as an utter pisstake on the original movies.

Because I enjoyed it. The humor is for twelve year olds but that is my market.

The stroyline is nonsense but most of them are and the characters are B superpowers.

Rat Catcher, Polkadot man and a shark. Never mind the mongoose that drowns at the start. It's terrible. So terrible that you will watch the whole thing and laugh all the way along.

The one good movie that the waynes did was "Scary Movie," because it wass a piss take with a plot. Some skits try to jumble together 30 funny scenes form different movies in a pot and throw a skit together but scary movie ran like a full movie and subtly referenced it's points.

This felt the same. It had it's own plot while poking fun at so many other movies and ideas. There was no reason to make it. There is no reason to watch it.

But I did and i enjoyed the stupidity of the whole thing.

You got it backwards. "The Suicide Squad" is the only redeemable one of the three. The original movie was meant to be a ripoff of guardians of the galaxy but it was written poorly due to a writers strike at the time. This was made worse by the fact that they took two different cuts of the movie and stitched them together and it really shows. The second movie is just "Yas Queen" because they were unhappy they ruined casting Margot Robbie in that disaster of a movie. "The suicide squad" was directed by James Gunn who also directed GotG so it's a redemption arc for the storyline. It's like a pseudo reboot kind of like how deadpool is an reimagining from xmen origins wolverine. If we were to try to say Deadpool was a pointless movie because Ryan Reynolds was already Wade Wilson, this would completely undermine this awesome direction comic movies are going where they're infused with more comedy. GotG, Deadpool, Thor Ragnarok... these comedy driven movies are some of the highest rated superhero movies. What's pointless about having good writing instead actors talking in front of a green screen with lazer beams?

Your review makes me feel like there is no point watching it.

But I guess that's your opinion.

I am sure a whole lot of people enjoyed it
