No soy una persona de ver películas, no me aburren, pero no son mi principal medio de entretenimiento (para esto busco leer, ver videos o escuchar música), sin embargo, desde que empezó el año me propuse tratar de hacer tiempo para ver al menos un par de películas en la semana, y de esta manera poder apreciar un poco más lo que el cine tiene para ofrecernos. En este post compartiré una de las películas más recientes que vi, se llama Old, y fue una pelicula que me generó mucha tensión.
I'm not a movie person, they don't bore me, but they are not my main means of entertainment (for this I look for reading, watching videos or listening to music), however, since the beginning of the year I made a resolution to try to make time to watch at least a couple of movies a week, and thus be able to appreciate a little more what cinema has to offer. In this post I will share one of the most recent movies I saw, it's called Old, and it was a movie that generated a lot of tension in me.

Trama
Se trata de una película de suspenso donde empezamos la historia con una familia que atraviesa algunos problemas matrimoniales, sin embargo, deciden ir de vacaciones antes de la separación para brindar a los niños un último recuerdo en familia. En el hotel, tanto ellos como otras familias son invitados por el gerente a visitar una playa exclusiva, un lugar paradisiaco. Todos se muestran entusiasmados y aceptan ir, preparan un automóvil y algunas provisiones para que ellos pasen el día allí, pero solo ocurren unas pocas horas de su llegada para que empiecen a notar cosas muy extrañas y se den cuenta que no pueden escapar.
Plot
This is a thriller where we start the story with a family going through some marital problems, however, they decide to go on vacation before the separation to give the children one last family memory. At the hotel, they and other families are invited by the manager to visit an exclusive beach, a paradisiacal place. Everyone is enthusiastic and agrees to go, they prepare a car and some supplies for them to spend the day there, but it only takes a few hours of their arrival for them to start noticing strange things and realize that they cannot escape.
Lo que sucede en la playa es que notan que por alguna razón sus cuerpos envejecen de manera muy acelerada, 1 hora que pasaba era relativo a 2 años de vida, así que cuando la abuela de una de las familias fallece, sucesivamente los niños que los acompañan parecen haber llegado a la pubertad en un salto, nadie entiende nada y lo único en lo que piensan es en salir de esa playa para pedir ayuda, pero ¡oh, sorpresa! Los teléfonos no tienen señal, así que no hay modo de llamar al chofer que los llevó hasta allá.
What happens on the beach is that they notice that for some reason their bodies age very fast, 1 hour that passed was relative to 2 years of life, so when the grandmother of one of the families dies, successively the children that accompany them seem to have reached puberty in a leap, nobody understands anything and the only thing they think about is to leave that beach to ask for help, but oh, surprise! The phones have no signal, so there is no way to call the driver who took them there.
The tension and anguish that each character suffers is transmitted to the audience, everyone feels fear because they see no way to return to the hotel, because, although they try to go back the way they came, they begin to feel a strong pressure in the head and take awkward steps to return to the shore of the beach. Time goes by and the people gradually decompensate and develop genetic diseases or diseases of old age, but they do not give up in finding a way to escape. Will there be a way out of this nightmare?
Mi opinión
Esta película me mantuvo en tensión durante casi toda la trama, ocurría un suceso tras otro y aunque confabulaba teorías en mi mente de la razón por la que envejecían tan rápidamente, no podía procesar todo lo que estaba ocurriendo, pasaban muchas cosas en un corto lapso.
Conocer las razones por las que estas personas fueron escogidas para llevarlas a la isla y qué proyecto había detrás de todo esto fue lo que hizo que todo tuviera sentido finalmente, pero aun así fue demasiado extraño, e incluso perturbador. Quiero contar un poco más pero no quiero dejar spoilers para que ustedes se sorprendan tanto como yo.
Algo en los personajes que me gustó es que, aunque los niños crecen y tienen apariencia de adultos, sus mentes siguen siendo inmaduras, actúan como niños en momentos desesperados buscando a sus padres para que los protejan. Recuerden, en este lugar una hora que pasa es como 2 años para sus cuerpos, así que podemos apreciar progresivamente como aparecen pequeñas arrugas en los rostros de los adultos o algunos signos de enfermedades mentales que se irán desarrollando a un nivel grave y peligroso...
My opinion
This movie kept me on edge for almost the entire plot, one event after another was happening and although I was concocting theories in my mind as to why they were aging so fast, I couldn't process everything that was happening, there was so much going on in a short span.
Knowing the reasons why these people were chosen to be taken to the island and what project was behind it all was what made it all finally make sense, but it was still too strange, and even disturbing. I want to tell a bit more but I don't want to leave spoilers so you guys will be as surprised as I was.
One thing about the characters that I liked is that even though the children grow up and look like adults, their minds are still immature, they act like children in desperate times looking for their parents to protect them. Remember, in this place an hour that passes is like 2 years for their bodies, so we can progressively appreciate how small wrinkles appear on the faces of the adults or some signs of mental illnesses that will develop to a serious and dangerous level...
Algunos detalles que no me gustaron tanto, es que noté algunas incongruencias, por ejemplo, cuando los niños crecen, sus trajes de baños se cambian por otros totalmente diferentes a los que tenían antes, creo que pudieron haber buscado algunos iguales pero que les quedaran ajustados a los cuerpos de los actores.
En fin… Disfruté mucho de ver esta película, ¿la volvería a ver? Por supuesto que sí, fue emocionante, así que también recomendaría mucho verla.

Some details that I didn't like so much, is that I noticed some incongruities, for example, when the children grow up, their bathing suits are changed for others totally different from the ones they had before, I think they could have looked for some of the same ones but that fit the actors' bodies.
Anyway... I really enjoyed watching this movie, would I watch it again? Of course I would, it was exciting, so I would also highly recommend watching it.
