Hello, people of Hive! Welcome to a new review. If you read me before, you know I love animation and ever since Pixar announced "Elemental" or "Elementos" I've been waiting to see it. It's happened and it's time for me to tell you my opinion.
¡Hola, gente de Hive! Bienvenidos a una nueva reseña. Si me lees con anterioridad, sabes que amo la animación y desde que Pixar anunció “Elemental” o “Elementos” estuve esperando para verla. Ya ocurrió y es momento de que les cuente mi opinión.
In the city "Elemental" coexist fire, air, water and earth. Each region has its own rules, but they all share one: the elements do not mix. Ember, our fire girl, has lived her whole life waiting for her father to inherit her store when she "is ready", she needs to earn his trust. However, after an accident, Ember will need Wade, a water man, to save her father's store and, though she doesn't know it, save herself from hiding her true self.
En la ciudad “Elementos” conviven el fuego, el aire, el agua y la tierra. Cada región tiene sus reglas, pero todos comparten una: los elementos no se mezclan. Ember, nuestra chica de fuego, ha vivido toda su vida esperando que su padre le herede la tienda cuando “esté lista”, necesita ganarse su confianza. Sin embargo, luego de un accidente, Ember necesitará de Wade, un hombre de agua, para salvar la tienda de su padre y, aunque ella no lo sepa, salvarse a sí misma de esconder su verdadero ser.
It's a Disney formula, the kind of film you feel you've seen before, but it's Disney that changes the locale to the same essence. Nevertheless, it works. It's visually pretty, entertaining, funny and gives you a peck on the cheek.
Es una fórmula Disney, ese tipo de cintas que sientes ya haber visto, pero es Disney que le cambia la localidad a una misma esencia. Sin embargo, funciona. Es visualmente bonita, entretenida, chistosa y te da un besito en la mejilla.
I liked that it had quite a bit of romance, because ever since Wade showed up I fell head over heels in love. He's the best character in the movie by far, no one even comes close. The whole romance thing, it's very good. The humor is a little bland at times, but it does get a few laughs out of you. I like how they played with the interaction of the elements in nature.
Me gustó que tuviera bastante romance, porque desde que apareció Wade yo me enamoré perdidamente. Es el mejor personaje de la película por mucho, nadie ni siquiera se le acerca. Todo el tema del romance, está muy bien. El humor a veces es un poco soso, pero si te saca risas. Me gusta como jugaron con la interacción de los elementos en la naturaleza.
But "Elemental," while it has Wade, contains a major flaw: it leaves things half-baked. It talks about racism, yes, but it leaves it weak. It talks about xenophobia and migration (as a Venezuelan I identified with it a lot), but it doesn't go deeper. It talks about choosing your course and freeing yourself from parental pressure (Red already did that, by the way) but superficially.
Pero “Elemental", aunque tiene a Wade, contiene un gran fallo: dejar las cosas a medias. Habla de racismo, sí, pero lo deja flojo. Habla de la xenofobia y la migración (como venezolana me identifiqué bastante), no obstante, no lo profundiza. Habla de escoger tu rumbo y liberarte de la presión paternal (eso ya lo hizo Red, por cierto) pero superficialmente.
Here the important thing was that Ember and Wade fall in love, so the other things feel like ornaments despite being themes with a lot of potential. Not even the problem they meet isn't explained, we don't find out how it's fixed, the important thing is that they are together. I'm not really sold on that idea.
Acá lo importante era que Ember y Wade se enamoraran, entonces las demás cosas se sienten como adornos a pesar de ser temas con mucho potencial. Ni siquiera el problema por el que se conocen se termina de explicar, no nos enteramos de cómo se arregla, lo importante es que ellos estén juntos. No me termina de cuajar esa idea.
I had a lot of fun with the film, I cried, I fell in love with Wade, I was angry with Ember, I felt sorry for her father. I had a lot of emotions but the movie is still a 6/10 because it's nothing more than just to pass the time.
Me divertí mucho con la cinta, lloré, me enamoré de Wade, me enojé con Ember, sentí pena por su padre. Tuve muchas emociones pero la película sigue siendo un 6/10 porque no es más que para pasar el rato.

Tengo mucho tiempo que no veo pelis más actuales de Disney y esta me llama la atención por la animación. Gracias a tu reseña puedo hacerme una buena idea de lo que puedo esperar de la película aunque me parece bastante pesado que toquen temas importantes pero de forma superficial, no tiene mucho sentido.
Igual estoy segura que debe ser entretenida.
