Molly Bloom is an Olympic-class skier, she retired after she got injured in a game at age 20. Against her parents wish, she paused law school and moved to L.A. to be young in warm weather. Got a job in a club as a cocktail waitress, where she met her boss, Dean Keith, a real estate jackass and worked for him as his executive assistant. She helped her boss to organize weekly poker games for the most important people in politics, business and Hollywood such as Leonardo Dicaprio, Tobey Maguire, Ben Affleck and others (though those names were not mentioned in the movie).

She got fired by her boss and she started hosting her own games using his contacts, she learned at her job and soon became a professional. She soon clashes with one of the actors and lost the game but Molly proved that she can't be killed by moving to New York and starting an exclusive poker games for even more influential people and made $4 million yearly. It turned out that most of her clients are wanted for crimes, unknown to her. Her world came crashing down when the FBI seized all her properties, giving her the only option of giving out the names and information on her clients or facing jail time.

I'm impressed, really impressed at how Writer/Director Sorkin told this story. It's a narration of both the past and present without boring the viewers for the 140 mins screen time. Every character is allowed to shine in their performance without being left out. Though it is a true life story, it didn't lose sight of the entertainment it was supposed to deliver. The real action happens at the poker table and Sorkin tries to interpret the games in a simple manner for amateurs to understand.
Sorkin might have gained himself a medal in his direction of this movie but it wouldn't have turned out the best if not for Jessica Chastain's outstanding performance as Molly Bloom. She turned Bloom into an interesting character dominating the screen with an admirable character. Idris Elba also shows off his acting skills as her lawyer who is determined to fight for her against all odds. They share a connection that keeps the movie entertaining. Other great performances include Kevin Costner as Bloom's demanding father, who delivers an emotional footnote at the end and Michael Cera as player X. Sources say that player X could be the real life Tobey Maguire. The movie is as entertaining as it can be while presenting Bloom as a hero. Molly's Game is a well edited, neatly written fascinating story with outstanding performances.
If Molly Bloom is exactly what Chastain portrayed her to be, then she is my role model..
