The worst thing that can happen on a plane trip is having one's life threatened. In most cases, this would be the plane crashing. In this film, however, the case is a hostile takeover. One would definitely consider it the worst time to not miss a flight.
That being crazy enough, it would not match what it would be difficult to call a saving grace: being rescued by a vampire. It now becomes a question of the reality of what follows. What would then happen afterwards if the vampire indeed dealt with the terrorist?
𝔸𝔹𝕆𝕌𝕋 𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝔽𝕀𝕃𝕄
Nadja has been suffering from what seems to be leukemia, and in hopes of getting herself fixed, she boards a plane to New York to visit a doctor with her son, Elias.
Much later, a group of men murder the air marshal and threaten the lives of the passengers. Amidst the drama, Elias, feeling the need to pick up something, runs towards the cabin. Nadja runs after him to stop him, but she gets shot and killed by one of the terrorists.
She somehow manages to come back alive. However, she comes back alive as a different person—a vampire. Still retaining her memories for the time being, she tries to stop the terrorists and save the lives of the hostages and passengers. It then turns into a battle between these men and one vampire, with the passengers caught in the middle of both sides.
𝕄𝕐 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊 & 𝕆ℙ𝕀ℕ𝕀𝕆ℕ
If I found myself in an airplane hijacked by terrorists, I might as well just put myself to sleep and save myself the stress of panicking. How much more, however, if there are vampires on board? I may as well be certain that I was having a nightmare.
I must say, for some reason, I had a whole different set of expectations for this film. Upon seeing it, my notions about it have been completely shifted.
sᴛᴏʀʏʟɪɴᴇ
The idea that people were stuck in a plane didn't seem novel to me. It has become a cliche setting for horror occurences because there is no way one can just jump out in hopes to escape or have a team of policemen at the tail of the vehicle if they were on ground.
For most of the beginning, however, I felt like it was going to be like another German film (Into the Night) with a similar setting—being stuck on an airplane—with only a touch of vampires. It took a different turn when I realized that there was way more action than I had anticipated, and I found that to be sufficient to make it different.
The approach they took in introducing the vampire is another thing to talk about. In a way, it felt like it sort of lacked depth. It required a backstory to be told to the main story to make sense, and even so, the backstory was just told at convenient points so as to just make the whole story flow, which I didn't find interesting.
Most of the film felt bland to me. I wasn't sure how I felt about it. It wasn't terrible, but it just didn't hit. It was all fight upon fight, gore upon gore. And that's one thing about films like this: taking away all the entertainment of the action will leave them bare, showing their shallow depth.
Nonetheless, it did have good thrills and was entertaining. And somehow, I stuck it out till the end out of curiousity about how it would really end.
ᴄɪɴᴇᴍᴀᴛᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜʏ
Again, nothing much was special about this film to me. It looked alright, but I didn't particularly consider the visual techniques in this film to be enticing. It all just seemed to do the job—that alone, and nothing more.
There was very little space, but I sure have seen films that did well in the little space they had to deliver something remarkable. Still, I would appreciate the effort in giving good enough CGI.
ᴀᴄᴛɪɴɢ
Many of the characters in the film played important roles that contributed to the whole story, and I consider their performances to be great. I would especially commend the efforts of the main character, our vampire, and those of the 10-year-old boy.
The main character delivered her role with much drama and sufficient inflections, too. It must have taken quite the effort to play such an energy-demanding role, yet she pulled it off well. It's probably part of the reason I enjoyed the film to some degree.
𝕄𝕐 𝔽𝕀ℕ𝔸𝕃 𝕋ℍ𝕆𝕌𝔾ℍ𝕋𝕊...
If I had known that this film was going to turn out the way it did, I may not have even bothered. Nonetheless, it didn't do terribly. It's a film I would consider an escapist one. It's unlikely I would recommend this one to people.

Lo peor que puede pasar en un viaje en avión es que la vida de uno corra peligro. En la mayoría de los casos, el avión se estrella. En esta película, sin embargo, se trata de una toma hostil. Sin duda, sería el peor momento para no perder un vuelo.
Siendo esto una locura, no se correspondería con lo que sería difícil llamar una gracia salvadora: ser rescatado por un vampiro. Ahora se trata de la realidad de lo que sigue. ¿Qué pasaría después si el vampiro se ocupara efectivamente del terrorista?
𝕊𝕆𝔹ℝ𝔼 𝕃𝔸 𝕊𝔼ℝ𝕀𝔼

Entonces se convierte en una batalla entre estos hombres y un vampiro, con los pasajeros atrapados en medio de ambos bandos.
𝕄𝕀𝕊 ℙ𝔼ℕ𝕊𝔸𝕄𝕀𝔼ℕ𝕋𝕆𝕊 𝕐 𝕆ℙ𝕀ℕ𝕀𝕆ℕ
Si me encontrara en un avión secuestrado por terroristas, más me valdría dormirme y ahorrarme el estrés del pánico. Sin embargo, ¿cuánto más si hay vampiros a bordo? También podría estar seguro de estar teniendo una pesadilla.
Debo decir que, por alguna razón, tenía unas expectativas totalmente distintas para esta película. Al verla, mis nociones sobre ella han cambiado por completo.
ʜɪsᴛᴏʀɪᴀ
La idea de que la gente estuviera atrapada en un avión no me pareció novedosa. Se ha convertido en un escenario cliché para sucesos de terror porque no hay forma de que uno pueda simplemente saltar con la esperanza de escapar o tener un equipo de policías en la cola del vehículo si estuvieran en tierra.
Durante la mayor parte del principio, sin embargo, sentí que iba a ser como otra película alemana (Into the Night) con un escenario similar -estar atrapado en un avión- con sólo un toque de vampiros. La cosa cambió cuando me di cuenta de que había mucha más acción de la que había previsto, y eso me pareció suficiente para hacerla diferente.
El enfoque que dieron a la introducción del vampiro es otra cosa de la que hablar. En cierto modo, daba la sensación de que le faltaba profundidad. Para que la historia principal tuviera sentido, era necesario contar una historia de fondo, y aun así, la historia de fondo se contaba en momentos convenientes para que toda la historia fluyera, lo que no me pareció interesante.
La mayor parte de la película me pareció insípida. No estaba seguro de lo que sentía. No era terrible, pero simplemente no pegaba. Todo era pelea tras pelea, gore tras gore. Y eso es lo que pasa con este tipo de películas: si les quitas todo el entretenimiento de la acción, quedan al desnudo, mostrando su poca profundidad.
No obstante, tenía buenas dosis de emoción y era entretenida. Y, de algún modo, aguanté hasta el final por la curiosidad de saber cómo acabaría realmente.
ᴄɪɴᴇᴍᴀᴛᴏɢʀᴀғɪ́ᴀ
Una vez más, no había mucho especial acerca de esta película para mí. Se veía bien, pero no me parecieron especialmente atractivas las técnicas visuales de esta película. Todo parecía cumplir su función, nada más.
Había muy poco espacio, pero seguro que he visto películas que lo han hecho bien en el poco espacio que tenían para ofrecer algo notable. Aún así, agradecería el esfuerzo por dar un CGI suficientemente bueno.
ᴀᴄᴛᴜᴀᴄɪᴏ́ɴ
Muchos de los personajes de la película desempeñaron papeles importantes que contribuyeron al conjunto de la historia, y considero que sus interpretaciones fueron estupendas. Quisiera elogiar especialmente los esfuerzos del protagonista, nuestro vampiro, y los del niño de 10 años.
La protagonista interpretó su papel con mucho dramatismo y suficientes inflexiones. Tuvo que esforzarse mucho para interpretar un papel que exigía tanta energía, pero lo hizo bien. Probablemente por eso disfruté tanto de la película.

Si hubiera sabido que esta película iba a resultar como lo hizo, puede que ni siquiera me hubiera molestado. Sin embargo, no lo hizo terriblemente. Es una película que yo consideraría de evasión. Es poco probable que se la recomiende a la gente.
