The fact that this movie didn't get a much better appraisal from the likes of Metacritic, IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, doesn't mean it's not a good work. Personally I'll rate this movie a 5.5/10, not because of the $4 million budget but I do not like the fact that you have to travel far before nemesis comes visiting plus too many familiar sinister scenes. Maybe as a thriller and horror writer, I was expecting more bizarre twists and turns. But I'll still give my honest review below.
The movie directed by David Koepp also screenplayed by him is about a rich older man who is sixty years or above married a woman much more younger than him, she is an adult movie actress and everyone in her movie scene thought she was the daughter of Theo . Released initially in June 2020, Theo was played by Kevin Bacon and the younger woman, his second wife, played by Amanda Seyfield, they have a daughter of about 7 to 8 years old.
For some time there has been tension In their home so in order to have a much more fun time together and to be closer in their relationship they had to go on a vacation at a resort away from the US to an enchanted Luxury home in the Irish Suburbs. The twists and turns start to appear when some bad energy appears to Theo and their little daughter, the young wife had no sinister experience for some reasons.
Theo lost his first wife to a domestic accident, she drowned in a bathtub after drinking so heavily. All evidence point to Theo as the killer but he was acquitted in the case as innocent. But was he really innocent? He could have saved his wife but he watched her died in the bathtub without helping her due to some issues in their marriage. As a very successful banker, he got a good legal team and walked free.
But the house is under the influence of some sinister evil that source for wicked souls all over the world and trapped their souls in the house forever. It all started when the house features started changing continuously, its maps, its designs and appearances from inside.
Theo realised he cant leave with his family, his soul has been dammed and no matter how he tried he will always come back into the house. He was trapped like dozens of other wicked dammed souls before him that had come vacationing in the luxury apartment far away from their homes!
You might like the general quiet, thrilling and suspense mood, it's worth a watch.
