Introduction
OOOOOKKKK
Good day everyone seeing this i'm assuming by everyone I am referring to the vast number of people in the steemit community who are able to see this.. It is I your guy Faust again and today I will be doing a review on one of my favourite movies I've seen in the year 2018 and that is Murder on the orient express. Yes yes I know someone out there reading this and say but the movie came out in 2017, yes of course this true but I did not get to see this spectacle of a movie up until February 2018...
Alright so first of all just a brief introduction about the movie. So Murder on the orient express is a 2017 American mystery drama movie directed by Kenneth Branagh and it is based on the 1934 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The movie stars Branagh as Hercule Poirot, Penélope Cruz as Pilar Estravados Willem Dafoe as Cyrus Bethman, Judi Dench as Princess Dragomiroff, Johnny Depp as Ratchett Josh Gad as Hector MacQueen, Derek Jacobi as Edward Henry Masterman just to mention a few..
The review
Now honestly no lies this movie blew my mind away.. Ohh God there was just so much that was awesome about it.. If you are lover for the detective genre then this is one movie you just have to get your hands on..
The strengths
The movie was absolutely gorgeous with intense thrilling scenarios to the dark conspiracies and truth that were about to be answered.. I must sing a lot of praises to the director and protagonist Kenneth Branaugh first of all for his amazing French/belgian English accent and one hell of a good moustache. This man was the star of this film. With his incredible acting we witnessed this entire film through his eyes and we were forced to see things the way he saw them.. Being the world greatest detective as at that time Hercule Poirot (the name of his character) must solve the most puzzling complicated murder case of his career and in solving it he will end up uncovering on of the greatest set ups ever arranged in history.. More than half of the movie takes place on the orient express. A 5 star luxurious train heading on a 3 day trip from Istanbul to London and on the second day a passenger is murdered putting the lives of everyone else on the train at risk because the killer may strike again.. Of course this is what we assumed until we were served the mother of all plot twists.. Another character who is worthy of praise for the portrayal of his role is Jonny Depp. This guy is just too good I mean he makes being a boss seem so easy. His character Ratchett is forced to have to continually watch over his back as he is constantly a target of many assassins due to his sins and his lifestyle.. Jonny brings a new look to what it means to act the part of a gangster.. Another beautiful thing with the movie is the plot intertwines the fate of 12 passengers all to a singular event that could either lead to the death of one or the demise of all and it is up to Hercule Poirot (Branaugh) to untangle this twisted treads or just cut them all up into pieces.. This particular decision is what he will have to face when the final plot twist is unravelled..
The weaknesses
Not all the characters succeeded in hitting their mark and in my opinion I think 007's Judi Dench did not really score well with her character. I mean her acting wasn't bad but I guess coming from an actress of her pedigree I expected more. That aside her character wasn't much of a major one so it didn't really affect the beauty of the movie...
Final thoughts..
This was one really Beautiful master piece where the film does justice to the book it was adapted from take a cue dark tower. It was thrilling, exciting full of suspense finesse wonder and awe.. It's a real shame it couldn't make my list for 2017 movies.. All in all I would give it a 9.5/10..
