ย Saludos mis cinรฉfilos de #CineTV. Hace poco volvรญ a ver un Thriller de terror psicolรณgico que me ha encantado. Se trata de Hereje. Si, soy muy fan de este gรฉnero y lamentablemente el aรฑo pasado no salieron muy buenas pelรญculas, pero como todo, hay sus excepciones y esta fue una de ellas.
ย Esta pelรญcula me dio unas cuantas sorpresas, la primera de ella fue ver a mi querido y admirado Hugh Grant actuando nuevamente, luego de no verlo en otras pelรญculas/series desde el 2020 (al menos en mi caso), pero armando este post me he dado cuenta de que ha estado activo en este lapso de tiempo.
ย Otra de las sorpresas que me llevรฉ fue ver como coprotagonista a la fabulosa Sophie Thatcher, quien debutรณ de manera espectacular en el film Compaรฑera Perfecta y en esta ocasiรณn tambiรฉn trabajรณ excelente. Por su parte, la actriz Chloe East, quien es la primera vez que veo trabajando, no se quedรณ atrรกs y de hecho creo que trabajar junto a estas dos grandes estrellas fue una inmensa oportunidad a la cual le sacรณ mucho provecho.

ย pero lo que mรกs me encantรณ de esta pelรญcula en sรญ fue su trama y la forma en la que se desarrollรณ el suspenso y el terror. Aunque todo se hizo para crear pรกnico a nivel mental, los directores Scott Beck y Bryan Woods me dejaron anonadada al llevar este thriller a otro nivel.
ย La historia te sumerge tanto y de a poco en el suspenso y la tensiรณn que te hace experimentar el miedo profundo sรณlo con verle los gestos psicรณpatas que hace Grant con su cara de manera muy seria. Y ver esto, sentir esto pero sobre todo la destacada actuaciรณn de Hugh de principio a fin es lo que hizo memorable este film para mรญ.

ย Pero ยฟcuรกl es la trama en sรญ de esta pelรญcula? Se podrรญa resumir en el cuestionamiento de la fe, en tus creencias religiosas y en la bรบsqueda perenne de la verdad. Sin embargo para que se den una idea mรกs precisa de su contenido, les harรฉ una cita de su sinopsis tomada de filmaffinity que dice asรญ:
Dos jรณvenes misioneras se ven obligadas a demostrar su fe cuando llaman a la puerta equivocada y son recibidas por el Sr. Reed. Los tres se verรกn envueltos en un brutal juego del gato y el ratรณn durante una larga noche de tormenta.

ย Yo cuando vi por primera vez el film no pude evitar profundizarme en la trama conforme pasaban las escenas y plantearme preguntas como si fuera una de las chicas que estรก visitando a este hombre en su casa por primera vez.
ย Esta pelรญcula te hace dudar de tus instintos, de cuestionarte ยฟquรฉ hubieras hecho tรบ en su lugar? ยฟcuรกndo te darรญas cuenta que corres peligro? y si lo haces, ยฟsaldrรญas corriendo de allรญ o actuarรญas disimuladamente como las chicas?

ย Desde mi punto de vista personal, Hereje te sumerge en un intrigante drama que explora a fondo los caminos de la fe, la duda y la convicciรณn personal frente a lo establecido. La historia se sitรบa en una รฉpoca donde la religiรณn controlaba cada aspecto de la vida, y cualquier idea diferente se consideraba una ofensa grave.
ย Es en este ambiente opresivo donde el protagonista se ve envuelto en un conflicto existencial que lo lleva a cuestionar todo en lo que creรญa, desatando una serie de eventos que pondrรกn a prueba su lealtad, su moral y su propia vida.

ย Uno de los aspectos mรกs impactantes de Hereje, es cรณmo explora a fondo la conciencia individual. La pelรญcula va mรกs allรก de un simple conflicto externo entre un personaje y una instituciรณn; se sumerge en la batalla interna que enfrenta el protagonista. Esto, en mi caso, como ya les mencionรฉ, me hizo cuestionarme: ยฟcuรกnto debe ceder la verdad personal ante la presiรณn social?
ย A su vez, la cinta plantea preguntas cruciales: ยฟes la herejรญa una desviaciรณn de la fe o una bรบsqueda honesta de la verdad? Estas interrogantes resuenan durante toda la historia, invitando al espectador a reflexionar sobre sus propias creencias y la valentรญa que se necesita para defenderlas, incluso cuando todos los demรกs estรกn en desacuerdo.
ย Por una excelente actuaciรณn una historia basada en escritos y cartas histรณricas, asรญ como un extra de drama, de mi parte le doy sus bien merecidas:

Hey there, fellow #CineTV film buffs! I recently rewatched a psychological horror thriller that I loved. It's called Heretic. Yeah, I'm a huge fan of this genre, and unfortunately, last year wasn't great for horror movies. But, like with anything, there are always exceptions, and this one was it.
This movie had a few surprises for me. The first was seeing my dear and admired Hugh Grant acting again. I hadn't seen him in any other movies or series since 2020 (at least for me), but while putting this post together, I realized he's been quite active during that time.
Another surprise was seeing the fabulous Sophie Thatcher as a co-star. She made a spectacular debut in the film Companion, and she did an excellent job again this time. As for the actress Chloe East, whom I have seen work for the first time, she held her own. I think working alongside these two great stars was a huge opportunity that she took full advantage of.

But what I loved most about this movie was its plot and how they built the suspense and terror. Even though everything was designed to create mental panic, directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods blew me away by taking this thriller to another level.
The story pulls you in so slowly, building suspense and tension until you feel deep fear just by seeing Grant's serious, psychopathic expressions. And experiencing this, feeling it, but most of all, Hugh's outstanding performance from start to finish, is what made this film so memorable for me.

o, what's the actual plot of this movie? You could sum it up as questioning faith, your religious beliefs, and the never-ending search for truth. But to give you a more precise idea of what it's about, I'll quote its synopsis from filmaffinity, so the synopsis says:
Two young missionaries are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by Mr. Reed. The three become embroiled in a brutal game of cat and mouse during a long, stormy night.

When I first watched the film, I couldn't help but get completely absorbed in the plot as the scenes unfolded. I kept putting myself in the shoes of one of the girls visiting this man's house for the first time, asking myself questions.
This movie makes you doubt your instincts and question what you would have done in their place. When would you realize you're in danger? And if you did, would you run out of there or try to act casual like the girls?

From my point of view, Heretic pulls you into an intriguing drama that deeply explores faith, doubt, and personal conviction when you're up against the establishment. The story is set in a time when religion pretty much controlled every part of life, and any different idea was seen as a serious offense.
It's in this oppressive atmosphere that the main character gets caught up in an existential conflict. This forces him to question everything he believed, kicking off a series of events that will seriously test his loyalty, his morals, and even his life.

One of the most impactful aspects of Heretic is how deeply it explores individual consciousness. The film goes beyond just an external conflict between a character and an institution; it dives into the internal battle the protagonist faces. This, in my case, as I already mentioned, made me question: how much should personal truth give way to social pressure?
In turn, the film raises crucial questions: Is heresy a deviation from faith or an honest search for truth? These questions echo throughout the story, inviting the viewer to reflect on their own beliefs and the courage needed to defend them, even when everyone else disagrees.
For an excellent performance, a story based on historical writings and letters, as well as an extra dose of drama, from my side, I give it its well-deserved:
