ย Happy Wednesday Hivers who read me, especially to those who bring life to the #MoviesAndTVShows Community. I will confess to you today. I am disappointed in Movie Mecca and the deliveries it has made this year 2024. For me, most of them have been disappointing, and saying so on social media or around here is often taken so personally as if it's an offense to think differently than others.
ย The point is that when I was so disappointed by Hollywood, I remembered the good old days and returned to the 90s with good films that today are known as great classics. This is to raise my spirits and revive the hope that someday they will regain awareness of what it means to make good movies. So I will tell you about one of my many favorites: Terminator 2.
ย I honestly don't know what's on filmmakers' minds this year. Films like Argylle, Night Swim, Kung Fu Panda 4, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, The First Omen, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Inside Out 2, Twisters, Alien: Romulos, Venom: The Last Dance have fallen into the repetitive and monotonous, showing more of the same and even to the extreme of the ridiculous. And yes, I know they are of different genres but still, I felt like I wasted my time watching them, rather than being entertained.
ย And not to mention the worst ones I consider this year, such as The Substance y Terrifier 3, (which by the way I watched the saga to see the third installment as it should be), these are examples that cinema has fallen low. That they have nothing good in their heads to bring to the public that is worth to be remembered. And I did not include a series because otherwise, the list would be longer.
ย That's why I decided to stop watching โpremieresโ and I went back to my time, when the special effects, for being the first ones on the big screen, were a jewel and a real beauty. Terminator 2 is one of my favorite movies of this somewhat extensive saga. And I didn't like all of them, just a couple. And despite that, my favorites and the best are only the first 2.
ย And how not to love this movie (the second part) if we see a โgoodโ Exterminator whose artificial intelligence is so advanced that it โadaptsโ to its owner by adding iconic phrases such as "Hasta La Vista Baby โ, โCome with me if you want to live โ and โI'll be back โ.
ย It is also one of the first films with futuristic themes very well posed for its time and was released in a period where the year 2000 and what was to follow looked so far away. That is, people back then were living with the thought that moving into a new century was so far away and at the same time that technology would advance so much that it would cause an extreme world war.
ย I remember that there was panic between the end of 99 and the arrival of 2000, people said that clocks would go crazy and that some household appliances might explode because it was not foreseen that it would come to that. There were even several who said it would be the end of the world. So much unnecessary chaos ๐คฃ but hey, those were other times.
ย Anyway, we get this incredible film with such advanced technology and a plot so realistic and adjusted to the present, plus the majestic performance of Schwarzenegger, that is, it was a total success and is currently one of the best sci-fi movies out there. Films this well made are the ones I want to see again.
ย And it has it all, its villain is unforgettable and incomparable, and its hero stole everyone's heart, especially when you see how he says goodbye with that human touch of his thumbs up, I cried the first 3 times I saw this movie with that ending. And well, there are so many good things that this movie has that it is worth watching again more than once. I recommend it to the ๐ฏ% and I consider it as The Science Fiction Movie.
