Hola nuevamente amantes del cine y series. Si han leído algunas de mis publicaciones en esta comunidad sabrán que suelo reseñar series o películas que ya salieron hace años, en esta ocasión vengo a reseñar algo un tanto más "reciente", Luchando con mi Familia, una película del 2019 basada en una historia real.
Protagonizada por Florence Pugh, Vince Vaughn, Jack Lowden, Nick Frost, Lena Headey y Dwayne Johnson cuenta la historia de la luchadora Paige, profesional y campeona de la WWE Divas.
Hey again movies and tv series lovers. If you've read some of my posts in this community you'll know I usually make reviews about shows or movies that came out years ago, this time I come to make a review of something a little more "recent", Fighting with My Family, a 2019's movie based on a true story.
Starring Florence Pugh, Vince Vaughn, Jack Lowden, Nick Frost, Lena Headey and Dwayne Johnson, tells the story of professional wrestler and WWE Divas champion, Paige.
La historia
Se centra en la familia Knight en la cual todos son luchadores, Ricky y Julia (Nick Frost y Lena Headey) en su juventud encontraron refugio en el mundo de la lucha e inculcaron esa costumbre en sus hijos Zak (Jack Lowden), Saraya (Florence Pugh) y Roy (James Burrows).
Roy intentó tener éxito en la lucha internacional pero fue rechazado, esto lo llevó a actuar problemáticamente al grado de terminar en prisión. Mientras, sus hermanos teniendo desde niños el sueño de ser campeones mundiales de la lucha libre se centraron en entrenar y hacerse de un nombre en su ciudad natal de Norwich, Inglaterra.
Zak se hace llamar Zak Zodiac en la arena, mientras que Saraya era conocida como Brittany. Ambos entrenaban en el gimnasio de la familia en el cual enseñaban también a otros chicos a pelear y a su vez los mantenían lejos de problemas.
Los hermanos Knight envían una grabación para hacer prueba para lucha internacional en NXT wrestling, ambos son llamados a audición y si son aprobados serán enviados a Florida.
Saraya es aceptada y le piden cambiar su nombre artístico ya que ya hay una Brittany así que lo cambia por Paige, debido a que le gusta la serie Hechiceras y escoge el nombre por Paige Matthews, la hermana mejor, ya que es su favorita.
Paige se abre camino superando varias pruebas físicas y personales hasta pasar de NXT a RAW y convertirse en campeona femenil venciendo a la previamente invicta campeona.
The story
It focuses on Knight family, one of which all of its members are wrestlers, Ricky and Julia (Nick Frost and Lena Headey) in their youth found shelter in the world of wrestling and their kids Zak (Jack Lowden) , Saraya (Florence Pugh) and Roy (James Burrows) grew up in that world.
Roy tried to succeed in international wrestling but was rejected, this took him to be a troublemaker to the point of ending in prison. Meanwhile his brothers, dreaming of being wrestling world champions since they were kids focused in training and make a name for themselves in their hometown city Norwich, England.
Zak calls himself Zak Zodiac on the ring, and Saraya was known as Brittany. Both used to train in the family gym, where they also teach other kids how to wrestle and keep them out of trouble.
Knight brothers sent a tape as a tryout to wrestle on NXT, both are called to audition and if they are accepted the two of them would be sent to Florida.
Saraya gets in and is asked to change her stage name because there is already a Brittany so she changes it for Paige, she picks this name because she likes the Charmed tv series and takes the name from Paige Matthews, the youngest sister since she's her favorite.
Paige makes her way overcoming several physical and personal tests until she gets from NXT to RAW and becoming champion by defeating the previous undefeated champion.
La lucha con su familia y ella misma
Durante la película no toda la lucha sucede en la arena, gran parte de los obstáculos que enfrentan son para ajustarse a los cambios y al rechazo.
Los padres Ricky y Julia ven la lucha como todo su mundo y hacen creer a sus hijos que es todo su mundo también, cuando Paige realiza su audición le preguntan ¿por qué quiere ser luchadora? a lo que ella responde que lo hace desde los 13 años y toda su familia es luchadora, le vuelven a preguntar lo mismo y repite la misma respuesta hasta que se pone a pensar en el por qué ella quiere esto, ¿realmente es lo que ella quiere? ¿o lo que su familia quiere para ella?
Mientras, Zak se siente deprimido por haber sido rechazado en lo único para lo que se preparó la mayor parte de su vida, empieza a seguir el comportamiento de su hermano Roy de meterse en problemas y comenzar peleas, tanta es su decepción de no haber sido aceptado que ignora lo que tiene, recién tuvo un hijo con su novia, sus estudiantes lo admiran, hasta está enseñando a un chico ciego a luchar, pero nada de esto parece importarle ya que el estaba centrado únicamente en la meta que no alcanzó.
Paige, en su entrenamiento en Florida se siente que no encaja, además las otras chicas entrenando le parecen superficiales que solo buscan fama, no las ve como luchadoras verdaderas solo porque eran modelos o porristas, pero nunca considera el hecho de que al igual que ella, las demás también tuvieron que pasar por las mismas pruebas para llegar a donde están. Paige no se toma en serio los entrenamientos y subestima a las demás, ella pide que acepten a su hermano ya que el si es un luchador verdadero, pero le dicen tanto a ella como a Zak que él simplemente no tiene todo lo necesario para ser una estrella del ring.
Paige enfrenta una crisis de identidad al comenzar a querer renunciar a la oportunidad de ser luchadora profesional solo por seguir sintiéndose una intrusa en ese mundo el cual es diferente a lo que ella pensaba. Cambia su apariencia para parecerse más a las otras pero sigue sintiendo que algo le falta. Regresa a Inglaterra con su familia con la idea de decirles que va a renunciar.
Al primero que le confía sus ganas de renunciar es a Zak quien no lo toma nada bien ya que el desea tanto la oportunidad que Paige ahora quiere tirar.
Los padres al inicio toman mal saber que Zak está buscando pelear con cualquiera que se le cruce en el camino y que Paige renuncie, después de todo ellos son los Knight, familia de luchadores ¿cómo es posible que sus hijos quieran alejarse de lo que ha sido su vida?
Julia es la primera en aceptar que antes que ser luchadores son familia y apoya la decisión de Paige sea cual sea, y Ricky no tarda en comprenderlo también. Paige y Zak se ayudan mutuamente a ver lo que tienen cada uno, Zak le hace ver que está preparada para el reto de convertirse luchadora profesional, por algo la escogieron. y Paige le hace ver que sus estudiantes cuentan con el al igual que su hijo y novia, además está haciendo algo único al enseñarle al chico ciego a luchar, eso es impresionante.
Al final la victoria no es solo de Paige, sino de toda su familia y amigos por sentirse representados por ella, y Zak no podría estar más orgulloso ya que Paige ganó gracias a su movida característica del Zak Ataca.
The fight with her family and herself
During the movie not all fighting happens on the ring, most of the obstacles they face are to adjust to the changes and rejection.
The parents, Ricky and Julia, see wrestling as their whole world and make their kids think that it's their world as well, when Paige is in her try out she's asked why does she want to be a wrestler? to which she responds that she's been doing that since she was 13 years old and her whole family are wrestlers, she's asked the same again, and she repeats her answer until she starts to think why does she want this, is it really what she wants? or is it what her family wants for her?
In the meantime, Zak is depressed for having been rejected in the only thing he's been preparing himself most part of his life, he starts to act as his brother Roy and gets into random street fights, such is his disappointment of not being accepted that he ignores what he has, he just had a baby with his girlfriend, his students look up to him, he even is teaching a blind kid how to wrestle, but none of that seems to matter to him since he was only focused on the goal he never achieved.
In her training in Florida, Paige feels like an outsider, plus the other training girls seem shallow fame seekers to her, she doesn't see them as real wrestlers just because they used to be models or cheerleaders, she never considers the fact that just like her, the others have to go through the same tryouts as her to get there. Paige doesn't take the training seriously and looks down at the others, she wants her brother to be accepted because he considers him as a real wrestler, but they tell her and her brother Zak that he simply doesn't have what it takes to be a star on the ring.
Paige faces an identity crisis when she wants to quit the opportunity of being a professional wrestler, she still feels like an outsider in this world that turned out to be different than what she thought. She changes her looks to look more like the other girls but she keeps feeling something's missing. She goes back to England with her family with the idea on mind of telling them she's quitting.
The first one she trusts her doubts with is Zak who doesn't take it very well because he wishes so much for the opportunity Paige wants to drop.
The parents at first don't take well knowing that Zak is getting into fights with anyone who crosses his way and with Paige quitting, after all they're the Knight, wrestlers family, how is it possible that their kids want to walk away from what has been their whole life?
Julia is the first one to accept that before being wrestlers they're family and she supports Paige's decision whatever she chooses, and Ricky doesn't take long to understand it as well.
Paige and Zak help each other to see what each have, Zak helps her see she's ready to become a professional wrestler, that's why she was picked. And Paige makes him see that his students count on him just as his son and girlfriend, also he's making something unique by teaching the blind kid how to wrestle, that's impressive.
At the end, victory is not only Paige's, but it belongs to her whole family and friends for feeling represented by her, and Zak couldn't be prouder since Paige won thanks to his special move, the Zak Attack.

Mi opinión
Disfruté la película porque no todo se centra en el mundo de la WWE ni RAW, de las cuales he escuchado y se a grandes rasgos la magnitud que tienen, pero no soy seguidora de las luchas.
La lucha no es literal ni contra ellos entre familia como tal, sino es su lucha por encontrar su lugar en dicha familia, todos son luchadores, sí, pero no solo eso. Los padres ya encontraron su camino al haber salido de una mala vida gracias a la lucha, por la cual también se conocieron y enamoraron, el gimnasio familiar que tienen ya es el fruto de su lucha, sin embargo esa meta no tiene que ser la misma para todos sus hijos.
Zak lucha con abrir los ojos a que se está cumpliendo otro sueño para él, ama a su familia y tener una propia y además haber hecho que sus estudiantes se sientan toda una familia en vez de estar cada quien perdido por su lado le hace ver que el hecho de que no le estén aplaudiendo cada logro ni sea televisado no le resta mérito al impacto que tiene en otras personas.
Paige lucha por hacerse de su propia identidad ya que hasta su nombre real de Saraya le fue dado por ser el nombre de la arena en que sus padres luchaban, luego cuando se estaba haciendo de un nombre como Brittany le pidieron cambiarlo por ser de alguien más, y Paige lo escogió por ser de alguien más, en ningún momento fue ella misma.
La Roca Dwayne Johnson le dice una frase que me gustó la cual es "en vez de enfocarte en ser la siguiente yo enfócate en ser la siguiente tú" le tomó tiempo en seguir este consejo, es hasta que obtiene el título de campeona que dedica su victoria no solo a su familia sino a todos aquellos que así como ella se sintieron externos, que no pertenecieron, ella misma se describe como la rara y acepta que así es ella tanto dentro como fuera del ring.
My Opinion
I enjoyed the movie because it's not all about WWE and RAW, from which I've heard about and know the importance of them but I'm not a wrestling follower.
The fighting is not literal or against each other as family, but is the fight to find their places in the family, they're all wrestlers, yes, but not only that. The parents found their way out of a bad life thanks to wrestling, thanks to it they also met each other and fell in love, their family gym is the result of their fight, however that goal doesn't have to be the same for all of their kids.
Zak fights with open his eyes to the fact that he's living another dream of his, he loves his family and having his own, and also making his students feel like they belong in a family in stead of roaming on their own makes him realize that just because no one is cheering his every achievement and not being broadcast on tv it doesn't take away the merit of the impact he's making in other persons' lives.
Paige fights for making her own identity, because even her real name, Saraya, was given to her for being the name of the ring her parents used to wrestle, then when she was making a name for herself as Brittany she was asked to change it for being someone else's, and Paige was chosen for being also somebody else, she never was herself.
The Rock Dwayne Johnson tells her a quote I liked which is "instead of focusing on being the next me, focus on being the next you" it took her time to follow this advice, it is until she gets the champion title that she dedicates her victory not only to her family but to all of those who like her felt like the outsiders, the ones that don't belong, she describes herself as the weirdo and accepts that's the way she is both in and outside the ring.
En general, es una película que se disfruta, Nick Frost siempre le da un toque a los personajes que interpreta, a el lo ubico más por la película de "El Desesperar de los Muertos" una muy buena comedia británica que le pone humor al género zombie.
No sé que tanto varíe de la verdadera historia de la familia Knight, no dudo que como toda película basada en una historia real metieron más drama del real pero aún así es una historia muy creíble y con personajes con los que es fácil conectar.
Generally speaking, it's an enjoyable movie, Nick Frost always gives his characters a touch, I knew him because of the movie "Shaun of the dead" a very good British comedy that adds humor to the zombie gendre-
I don't know how much it's different from the real Knight's family story, I have no doubt that just as happens with every based on real events movie, they made it look more dramatic than how it was, but still it's a very believable story with relatable characters.
