Hello friends of Movies and TV shows! As I told you a few days ago, I've been trying to see more series and movies that I've heard recommendations, or simply because I've seen fragments in TikTok and the truth is that I've been pleasantly surprised.
On this occasion I come to talk about Destination Wedding or its name in Spanish, La Boda de mi Ex, a romantic comedy, that more than comedy, I see it as an experiment that went quite well and I will tell you my explanation of this.
Romance movies are something I'm not used to, but I don't run away from them, but I have to admit that when I saw a fragment of this movie in Tiktok and I saw that its protagonists were Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, it caught my attention immediately, first because seeing Keanu in a romance movie is something I hadn't seen before and second because the chemistry in the small fragment I saw, made me very curious.
The premise is pretty simple but as they tell it is quite an anticlimactic journey, Lindsay( Winona Ryder) and Frank( Keanu Reeves) are two people who were invited to Keith's wedding, but as soon as they start talking to each other before taking the flight to the wedding venue, they realize that Lindsay is Keith's ex fiancée and Frank is Keith's brother and since they start talking they realize that they are super direct and unbearable people, so they don't tolerate each other.
Even though neither of them wanted to go to the wedding, they both have their reasons, she to close the cycle and finish forgetting Keith, and he because of the engagement with his mother. Despite this, their irritating dialogues and their constant lack of tact in talking to each other, generates a satisfaction in criticizing everything and they both enjoy the moments before the wedding, but in a quite interesting way.
Throughout the film, it feels like a dialogue between them and the viewer, which makes it more personal, but it also feels like a little philosophical journey, as each of them has their shortcomings and difficult personalities, but as you hear them talk, you understand why their actions and attitudes.
After attending the wedding they both come to the conclusion that they are very attracted to each other and decide to ignore the wedding and have fun in their own way, but not in a romantic way or like the honeymoons we see in the usual romances, they decide to make it an organic way, spending time together and being who they are until the event is over.
However at the end of everything, Lindsey and Frank have their differences, she wants to continue their relationship, while he says he does not want to fall into a habitual relationship and that what they enjoyed becomes something boring and monotonous, that is just a fling, which separates the perspectives of both and it feels that something does not end up working.
That something is insecurity, he feels that he doesn't believe in love and that a relationship between them won't work, so shortly after the event ends, they both return to their regular lives on a plane ride, but before they reach their destination, Lindsay tells him to give it a try and he keeps denying her what he feels.
But as they say goodbye, they promise not to give each other the contacts not to call or look for each other in any way, however, in helping her get a cab, Frank overhears Lindsay's home address and he goes back to her apartment.
Which is to no avail, as upon arriving and spending a totally sour and pointless day, he remembers how beautiful it was to share with her and regrets his indecision. Meanwhile we see a Lindsay trying to get back to her habits and make her life as normal as possible until after two days, one night the doorbell rings and when she opens the door there is Frank and we see how they both smile at each other.
Honestly, I know that this is a review that touches on the characters and the plot because I felt that I should not tell everything so literally, it is a movie that you can enjoy watching quietly, because it mixes a lot of feelings with anecdotes of life and a reflection on the people that make us happy, I loved it, I did not need anything more than their dialogues to understand the context that surrounded them and why they are the way they are, I really loved how such a simple movie manages to address all that.
Without anything else to say, if you want to see a movie where John Wick falls in love and it's really worth reflecting on love, this is the right movie hahaha, thank you so much for reading and getting this far! See ya!
¡Hola amigos de Movies and TV shows! Como les comente hace unos días, he estado intentando ver mas series y películas de las cuales he escuchado recomendaciones, o simplemente porque he visto fragmentos en TikTok y la verdad es que me he llevado gratas sorpresas.
En esta ocasión vengo a hablarles de Destination Wedding o su nombre en español, La Boda de mi Ex, una comedia romántica, que más que comedia, la veo como un experimento que salió bastante bien y les contare un poco mi explicación de esto.
Las películas de romance son algo a lo cual no estoy acostumbrado, pero no le huyo, pero tengo que admitir que cuando vi un fragmento de esta película en Tiktok y vi que sus protagonistas eran Keanu Reeves y Winona Ryder, me llamó la atención inmediatamente, primero porque ver a Keanu en una película de romance es algo que no había visto y segundo porque la quimica que habia en el pequeño fragmento que vi, me generó mucha curiosidad.
La premisa es bastante simple pero como la cuentan es todo un viaje anticlimático, Lindsay( Winona Ryder) y Frank( Keanu Reeves) son dos personas que fueron invitadas a la boda de Keith, pero apenas comienzan a hablar entre ellos antes de emprender el vuelo a el lugar donde se celebra la boda, se dan cuenta de que Lindsay es la ex prometida de Keith y de que Frank es el hermano de Keith y desde que comienzan a hablar se dan cuenta de que son personas super directas e insoportables, así que no se toleran entre ellos.
A pesar de que ninguno de los dos quería ir a la boda, ambos tienen sus razones, ella para cerrar el ciclo y terminar de olvidar a Keith, y él por el compromiso con su madre. A pesar de ello, sus diálogos irritantes y su constante falta de tacto al hablar entre ellos, les genera una satisfacción al criticar todo y ambos disfrutan los momentos antes de la boda, pero de una manera bastante interesante.
Durante toda la película, se siente que es un diálogo entre ellos y el espectador, lo cual lo hace más personal, pero también se siente que es un pequeño viaje filosófico, pues cada uno de ellos tiene sus carencias y personalidades difíciles, pero conforme los oyes hablar, vas entendiendo el por que de sus acciones y de sus actitudes.
Luego de acudir a la boda ambos llegan a la conclusión de que se atraen muchísimo y deciden ignorar la boda y divertirse a su manera, pero no de una manera romántica o como las lunas de miel que vemos en los romances habituales, ellos deciden que sea de una forma orgánica, pasando tiempo juntos y siendo quienes son hasta que termine el evento.
Sin embargo al finalizar todo, Lindsey y Frank tienen sus diferencias, pues ella quiere continuar con su relación, mientras él dice que no quiere caer en una relación habitual y que eso que disfrutaron se convierta en algo aburrido y monótono, que sea solo una aventura, lo cual separa las perspectivas de ambos y se siente que algo no termina de funcionar.
Ese algo es la inseguridad, el siente que no cree en el amor y que una relación entre ellos no funcionara, así que al poco de terminar el evento, ambos regresan a sus vidas habituales en un viaje en avión, pero antes de que lleguen a su destino, Lindsay le dice que lo intenten y el le sigue negando lo que siente.
Pero al despedirse, se prometen no darse los contactos para no llamarse ni buscarse de ninguna manera, sin embargo, al ayudarla a conseguir un taxi, Frank escucha la dirección de la casa de Lindsay y el se regresa a su apartamento.
Lo cual no sirve de nada, pues al llegar y pasar un día totalmente agrio y sin sentido, recuerda lo hermoso que fue compartir con ella y se arrepiente de su indecisión. Mientras tanto vemos a una Lindsay tratando de volver a sus hábitos y hacer su vida de la manera más normal posible hasta que pasados dos días, una noche suena el timbre y cuando abre la puerta allí está Frank y vemos como ambos se sonríen.
Honestamente, se que esta es una review que toca muy por encima a los personajes y el argumento porque sentí que no debía contar todo de manera tan literal, es una película que se disfruta muchísimo viendo tranquilamente, pues mezcla mucho los sentimientos con anécdotas de la vida y una reflexión sobre las personas que nos hacen felices, a mi me encanto, no me hizo falta nada más que sus diálogos para entender todo el contexto que los rodeaba y porque ellos son como son, realmente me encanto como una película tan sencilla logra abordar todo eso.
Sin nada mas que decir, si quieren ver una película donde John Wick se enamora y realmente vale la pena reflexionar sobre el amor, esta es la película correcta jajaja, muchísimas gracias por leer y llegar hasta acá! Nos vemos!
