A beautiful film with a lot of romance and military overtones between military cadets and textile workers.

Both dream of escaping a limited life, seeing the world and broadening their horizons and experiences.

This ending is one of the most successful and exciting in the history of cinema.

Jack Nietzsche's music is great and he won an Oscar as the author of this unforgettable song.

Taylor Hackford does a great job here as director, contrasting love and uniform and bringing them into conflict.

As for actor Richard Gere, in this film he played perhaps the most important role of his life, and at least it is certain that it was the role that catapulted him to fame.

The same can be said, if not more so, of Louis Gossett Jr., whose performance was deemed worthy of a Best Supporting Actor Oscar by Hollywood film judges in his role as a drill sergeant and builder of men for the Fatherland.

Debra Winger, the girl in question managed to prove that she was one of the best performers of the 1980s.

This is an unforgettable film for those in love or anyone who enjoys themes such as escaping poverty, becoming a better person, dating and all that romance entails.

Originally, the character of Zach Mayo was to be played by John Travolta.

A classic masculine drama and a family favorite back in the day. And that song from the late Joe Cocker, man, that’s one of the best movie songs of the 1980s and it’s always nice to hear. Too bad Richard Gere has practically disappeared from our screens; if you want to watch a good one with him check Arbitrage from 2012.
