Blood and Black Lace was the maximum exponent of ways of killing that we had never seen in the cinema, nor could we even imagine...

With a photography full of strong colors that do not exist in everyday reality, with a surreal art direction and with a fantastic jazz soundtrack that underlines each of the six terrifying murders, Mario Bava creates a school that soon after would take up an endless number of films but with sadism, blood and pain in a generally gratuitous manner.

In this film we already know, since its title is shown on the screen, that six women are going to die in a terrible way. Six women as genuinely beautiful as they are enigmatic.

From the first murder, perfectly shown in the darkness of a diabolical garden, we also suspect that each one of them has motives to kill, but all of them end up being killed... The gibberish is served and until the final denouement little or nothing we will be able to discover... (the photo that I uploaded as a post does little or nothing to help the investigations... whoever kills always has his face covered... and produces terror equally to the woman who kills as to the spectator... you will have to see the film to know her face)...

When somewhat later appeared DARIO ARGENTO with his films of terror and blood we soon knew that his waste of red ink was influenced by MARIO BAVA and his Blood and Black Lace... he could imitate him in his "giallo" films, but never match him...
