"Far from the Madding Crowd" is a portrait of a strong, independent woman

This is a film based on the novel of the same name written by Thomas Hardy, the screenplay was adapted by David Nicholls.

Set in the 19th century English countryside, the story follows Bathsheba Everdene, a beautiful young woman played by Carey Mulligan, who becomes the owner of a farm after inheriting it from her uncle.
