Black Lightning Episode 12 Review: 'The Resurrection and the Light'

So many villains, so few heroes

And so much happening!

First, Khulio returns, fully healed and walking again... And sporting some bad-ass looking dreads. Jeff and Gambi quickly deduce what this means -- he's gotten a spinal implant from Tobias Whale or the ASA, and is now on their side. Jennifer, however, isn't convinced. She sneaks out to see him and experiences firsthand the new, stronger, and angrier version of her ex. He wants them to get back together, but she draws away and angrier than ever, he yells at her and jumps off the roof.

Tobias is fully back, and Proctor wastes no time in giving him Lady Eve's place in the ASA, but informs him he needs Black Lightning alive to stabilize his other subjects. However, Tobias is not satisfied with his new position and wants something bigger. He calls in his secret weapon, the re-animated La-la, finally revealing how Laetivius returned from the dead. Then he sends Khulio down to Garfield High to wreck havoc and call out Black Lightning.

Back in the Pierce family, Lin and Jeff get back together, but decide to keep it a secret from the girls. Jennifer still wants to get rid of her powers and believes her mom is doing all she can to help her. When Lin informs her all she's doing is studying her genetic makeup, she becomes depressed.

Then Khulio shows up at the school, shooting paralysing darts out of his hands.

Jeff and Anyssa hurry to stop him, and are greeted by Tobias and his sidekick Cy. Tobias is pepared-- Black Lightning's abilities are useless on him. Still Black Lightning knocks him down in hand-to-hand combat... Until Khulio arrives and shoots his dart into Jeff, blocking his powers. They go hand-to-hand, but Kjulio knocks him down with a punch to the chest, stopping his heart and killing him.

Meanwhile, Thunder and Cy are at it in a classroom. Jennifer, who snuck back in after the school was evacuated, watches them from the door glass, but she is unable to control her powers and therefore unable to help, making her really frustrated. However, Thunder manages to knock Cy down and they hurry to help Jeff who has been left for dead by Tobias. Then Jennifer touches his chest, and her electric powers restarts his heart, and she and Thunder quickly leave the school and carry his unconscious body back to Gambi.

Proctor is furious --he'd wanted Bkack Lightning alive! He decides to settle for Thunder instead... Gambi takes the entire Pierce family into hiding in a secret, cloaked house in the woods...
