A Viking Yuletide

This episode focuses on dealing with the death of a loved one as the Legends (Jax in particular) deal with the loss of Prof. Martin Stein.

At first, Snart tries to help the team through forced therapy, but that doesn't work. Then an anachronism is triggered --a level 12, the highest they've ever faced --that threatens to turn America into a Viking-land called New Valhalla and stop the spread and belief in Christianity throughout the world. When the Legends go in to investigate, they are shocked to see it involved Marty, Stein's younger self who was yanked from 1992 and thrown into the past with the Beebo doll he just bought for little Lily's Christmas. Thinking the Vikings would use Marty's intellect to take over the World, they rescue him quickly from the camp. However, it's the doll that's the anachronism --the Vikings believe it is a 'blue god' that wants them to take over the new world.

With young Martin on board, Jax gets even more disturbed. He wants to warn him about his fate but the other legends override him, except Zari who advises him to find a loophole in time which he can use to save the Professor. Sara begins to feel the team isn't emotionally balanced enough to deal with the anachronism and calls for help from Agent Sharpe of the Time Bureau. Together with the rest of the team, they head into the Vikings camp as guests and attempt to steal the doll. Unfortunately, before they can get away with it, they are caught, resulting in a fight that ends only when Mick burns the doll down. Seeing this, the Vikings declare it a 'false god' and turn around to go home --only to stop at once. Damian Darkh, dressed as Odin, appears in a scattering of lightening and orders them to stay and conquer the world.

The legends are stymied. They know Darkh and his daughter Eleanor are much too powerful for them just to confront head on. But the anachronism has jumped to a level 14 and is cementing faster than ever, and they are forced to make a plan of action all the same. Sharpe leaves at first, convinced they have no chance of winning, but then returns to help. Snart and Mick manage to take Eleanor down and Damian, enraged, seizes her and tries to time travel away. Before he does, Sara grabs his shoulder... and is drawn into an alternate dimension where Mallus, an all-encompassing presense there, speaks to her. Shape draws her out and realising Rip was right, returns to the Bureau to relate the experience.

The episode ends with Jax taking a break from the team to process his loss after having a good talk with Marty, and John Constantine appearing to call on Sara for help --there is a demon in a little girl somewhere who improbably and impossibly knows her name...

Legends of Tomorrow returns from its Winter hiatus with 'Daddy Darhkest' on Monday, 12th February 2018, only on the CW
