R.L Stine, a writer who has the fabulous ability to turn everything he writes into reality (Woo ... that would be great if it were so ...!). However, he is a man who lives in a peaceful and quiet place in a town called Madison; and by chance he has new neighbors who have just arrived in town; They are a mother and a teenage son. The teenage boy's name is Zach and soon after he arrives, he meets Hannah who is the daughter of R.L Stine and with whom he sometimes has bad conversations (typical of parents and teenagers). On one of those occasions, Zach hears screams or a strong fight between Hannah and her father, so she calls the police. When the police arrived, the father argues that the volume of the TV was very strong and from there came the screams. R.L Stine, baffled by what happened shortly after, warns Zach that he doesn't want him near Hannah because something bad could happen. But, both teenagers don't pay attention. And in a small absence of R.L Stine, Zach and a friend enter the writer's house, and see a beautiful bookstore where all those books were sealed, attracting the attention of the young people.

Zach, out of curiosity, opens one of the books and amazingly jumps from it the snowman. Hannah realizes what happened and tries with her new friends, to return that fatal monster to the book where it came from. After that fact and at home, they are surprised that Slappy has also left his book, this is an evil ventriloquist doll that has the powers to manipulate beings and also to transform them. Slappy, who is smarter than the average monsters in R.L Stine's stories, takes his own book and runs away, unleashing terrible chaos in the town of Madison, as he unleashes a wide variety of monsters that harm everyone.

On the other hand, the boys and R.L Stine see how to survive in front of the creatures and at the same time, try to write another book in order to catch all the monsters. The often detail here is that you need a magic typewriter, which is located at the school showcase where the kids study. However, the bad thing about all this is that at R.L Stine, finishing the book, all creatures would be absorbed including Hannah herself, who was also a creation of Stine. In spite of everything, Hannah does not pay attention to this, and in favor of saving others it is she herself who opens the book and ends up being sucked. Tranquility returns to the town of Madison, but Zach and R.L Stine end up with a broken heart because of Hannah's absence. But R. L Stine has the fabulous writing of another book, where Hannah becomes real again.

Important scenes from the Movie:

  • Zach meeting with Hannah. Hey ..! This is love at first sight, how nice to be a teenager.

  • Slappy unleashes all the monsters from the magic books, causing chaos and destruction throughout the town.

  • Hannah's revelation to Zach that she has always known the truth that she is a magical creature from a book.

  • Farewell of Hannah with Zach when also absorbed by the book, at the time of eradicating the monsters. A goodbye kiss, very romantic.

  • Back to Hannah, Zach ends up together and she leaves school holding hands.

  • R.L Stine walks through the school hallway and notices that the magic typewriter is typing alone. Ohh ... he's the invisible man! Hopefully a second edition.

My opinion:

Fabulous cast and great story, brings together various monsters and magical beings, which totally give the film a Plus sense. Regarding the effects and dialogues, they are good and well developed; although I think there are many effects with Disney airs (sometimes these types of effects seem somewhat extravagant and annoying, but in Chills is the perfect measure.)

R.L Stine, has an extraordinary temper in acting, strong but at the same time overprotective. Zach and Hannah, perfectly represent a teenage love involved in the tragic situation of not being able to be together for major causes. In short, a good fantasy movie that has a bit of everything and with an initial budget of $ 58,000, managed to raise $ 150 million.
