Violet Evergarden/Review

Review by @pompoko · 1480d · of Violet Evergarden

Light_spoiler

Violet Evergarden is a Japanese TV series released in 2016. Each episode of the 14-episode series, including an OVA episode, has an average length of 25 minutes.

When I first heard the name, it seemed a little strange to me. I was wondering what kind of name it is. I never really thought it was the name of a character! (I know you are not as stupid as I am.) Yes, it is the name of a character. And she is not the main character, she is our main character. herr name may sound feminine, in fact She is a girl. The series is named after her Name.

Let me tell you something about the story of the series.

A navy captain, Dietfried Bougainvillea, sees a girl on a deserted island. Age will be 9-10 years. He and his sailors anchored there to find out about the girl. While the captain was thinking about "what can be done to the girl", some of his sailors approached the girl with bad intentions. The captain realizes that he can stop them, the girl became restless! Fighting alone with them, even killing a few. Seeing the strange situation, the rest tried to escape but could not survive in the end. Seeing such ferocity, the captain ordered the rest of his soldiers to kill the girl.

But before they could respond, they fell to the ground, except for the captain. The girl believed for some reason that everyone except the captain was a bad person. The girl then started following the captain, not even trying to kill him. The captain slowly began to understand the girl. He realized that the girl could not speak and could not understand him. undefined The girl understood only one word. "Kill". The captain then points a finger at one of the animals to test him and says, "Kill." He killed it immediately. The same goes for humans. So the captain brought her with him, thinking that it would be useful for her to talk and understand. image.png

Yes, this is the previous story of our Violet Evergarden. A highly trained girl who alone has the power to destroy an army. No, no, it's not a fantasy series. The director himself gave her this qualification. Shortly after she was brought home, Captain Dietfried Bougainvillea presented the girl with a congratulatory gift to his younger brother Gilbert Bougainvillea's promotion to the rank of Major. (Violet still had no name ‌ no. Who, how to name her, would rather see in the series!) Violet was referred to as Captain 'Tool'. Because even though she was a human being, her behavior was not like that of an ordinary person. He was always waiting for orders. she did not do anything outside the order. she is also an orphan.

In my opinion, since childhood Wherever she has been, she has not been touched by humanity. Not familiar with any feelings. Which is why she grew up to be a feelingless, barbaric girl. But his new owner, Major Gilbert, was not so ruthless. He brought the girl from his brother. Teaches her to read and write. The Major's purpose was to give him a simple happy life. He always hoped for the order of his master. The Major wanted him not to need anyone's order. Let him live a free life like everyone else. The Major was able to slowly awaken the feeling inside him. But he still behaved like an instrument. She knew in that look that something was going on inside her, but she didn't know what it was. The instability that goes on inside what is called. A few days later, the world war started. The world war mentioned in the series was the first world war. Too much of the war will not be shown in the series. You will learn some important parts as the series progresses. image.png

Then, in 1917. Violet loses both hands in battle (there are important facts behind it). Putting two mechanical hands on her Given, mechanical like her! And during the war, Major passes on the responsibility of Violet to a friend, who takes her from the hospital (where her hand was treated) to her newly opened post office after the war. Now Violet sees the outside world. At the public post office she sees people of different types, different mindsets. she gradually encounters different kinds of feelings in his mechanical life. She thinks her Major told her something in their last operation that she didn't understand. she became desperate to understand the feelings in the words that Major had told him. He chose the job of ghostwriting which proved to be the most difficult job for her at that time. (Ghostwriting is when a person listens and understands what he or she wants to say or expresses his or her emotions. And those who do ghostwriting are called dolls.) image.png

But she who is not able to understand her own emotions, how can she express the feelings of another human being on paper! What were the words of the Major? Will he be able to understand that! Where is Major? Is he alive or dead?

The series will move forward with these questions. Seems to have said a lot ?! No sir, you will see all this in 2 episodes. So imagine what else is in the whole series! It seems that the story ends here! Hey wait, wait. I just said the series. Don't watch the movie!

  • Violet Evergarden: Eternity and The Auto Memory Doll (2019)
  • Violet Evergarden: The Movie (2020)

Two sequels to the series. Although the events of the first one are not very special, the second movie . completely, has changed the story. In simple words, I have said the sequel of the series, I don't want to make the review bigger by writing something bigger. Your time is worth it, isn't it?

It has been discussed for so long. Let me share some personal opinions. This is one of the unique series I have seen. You may have already got some idea of the unique storyline. I'd highly recommend anyone to watch it, either. Very nice story-building, which will shake your feelings just right. Every incident made me feel like Violet . After watching this series, I realized that people's feelings are so diverse. As the story goes, so does the animation, Animated by Kyoto Animation studio, who have already given us great movies like Tamako love story, A Silent Voice. And yes, I also found some similarities between Violet and one of my favorite characters, Nishimia (A Silent Voice), so I like Violet even more. Honestly, I've had a crush on this Girl.

So far reading the review means you want to see. Take a look, great thing! Stay well, stay healthy. Thanks so much for reading the full review .
