This is a good horror movie. The trailer looked promising enough and the movie delivered what it promised, small space supernatural horror movie.
In the movie, Sheriff Burke (Michael McElhatton, or Roose Bolton for you Game of Thrones fans) is called into a crime scene in which all of the members of a family have been killed, while it appears that they were trying to escape. Inside the house he and the police find the half buried, but otherwise unharmed, body of an unknown woman, a Jane Doe. The press is all over this so the sheriff asks Tommy (Brian Cox), the small town's coroner to perform the autopsy and find the cause of death before the morning. His son, Austin (Emile Hirsch), who is his technician decides to stay and help instead of spending the evening with his girlfriend. As they start to perform the autopsy things get really strange, really fast, but not too fast.
This movie has great atmosphere. It helps that nothing is scarier than a morgue with a mysterious corpse in it. This movie keeps you engaged and on the edge of your seat. It starts out with plenty of jump scares, but don't let it mislead you, it is not that kind of a movie. However, if you've seen a few horror movie, you might find this movie predictable. Still, it is excellently made with great pacing and acting throughout the movie. If you never thought that an unmoving corpse can't act, you didn't not see this movie.
I would also like to add that this is another horror movie that focuses on the family and family troubles and dishonesty. Evil seeps through when the family is in trouble. It's an interesting trend in the genre.
If you're looking for a good supernatural horror movie to watch, it's a great choice.
