Alright, now we are going places. Good places. Interesting places. This show is starting to grow on me.
Episode 4 was still relatively the lesser episode. Episode 5 had me mesmerized to the screen and I didn't believe the episode was over so fast even though it was an hour long. So yeah, I got an Amazon Prime subscription just so I can watch this show. So I guess it is that good.
Episode 4 still feels like an exposition episode. Even though we have a lot of action in it. Our main characters are still on the road, still searching for themselves and their place in the world. Somehow, it just feel like more exposition. More getting to know everyone. Getting to know even more about this world that the show is presenting. Also, shout out to Álvaro Morte who plays Logain Ablar in the show, but most people know him as El Profesor from La Casa de Papel/ Money Heist. There is a lot going on this episode. There is a lot of action in this. A lot of cool fighting scenes and display of power. However, despite all that is going on it feels very much like an exposition episode.
Episode 5 truly feels like the show it finding its pace, its story and a really cool reveals that make it standout in the fantasy landscape. Plus, for the first time it doesn't feel like an exposition episode. We know the characters, we know the world and you can guess where some people are going. But yet there are just more mysteries raised by the show. Maybe because the show introduces for the first time not the magic of the world, but the political landscape. It's not exactly political backstabbing, but there are a lot of things that are happening beneath the surface which is interesting. Also, what the hell is going on with Perrin? I have no idea what was that, but I am very interested in finding out, because that was crazy.
There is a lot more than just finding the Dragon Reborn. There are more than just Light and Darkness. There are some who want to watch the world burn so no one else will suffer which is a strange sentiment. Strange is good, strange will help set this show apart. So far, I like what I am seeing and I want to see more of it.
