Released in April 2007, this Shonen is really a great success. I am no longer the regular at Mecha universe even if at one time I liked this style especially with Evangelion. It must be said that it was a big surprise for me, I did not expect an anime with so many bad conditions ... Epic scenes on the background of rap opera, characters really endearing and a scenario pretty well designed, It's Party for a small tour of the two seasons of Gurren Lagann!
Synopsis Gurren lagann
A scenario that breaks three legs to a duck, to make it short; Gurren Lagann is located in a distant future where humans are condemned to live underground (not the undead) because of the creation of the Gunmen created by Lord Genom the great chief of the earth (nothing but that) .
We will follow the story of Simon, a young orphan whose job it is to dig underground to expand their living space. In fact, this anime is quite complicated to criticize. The majority of opinion will really be about your feelings. It's very good but it's also bad (aaaaaaaah I'm lost in my head), no but personally I found it good, dynamic, with graphics that make the charm of the series.
So quickly I read two sounds of bells and I myself thought about the matter. One could make the review of the guy who in kiffé and as often said: CA FINISH IN CAPSLOCK SO WAS IT OUFISSIME. But when it is not in my habits so I will stay with the fact. PUTAIN THAT HE IS GOOD THIS ANIME, sorry.
Gurren Lagann is both heavy and epic depending on which way we take it. We are going to start with Simon, who is a rather frightened young boy but whose charisma will increase as the series progresses. Also we can count on his brother of weapon Kamine who will be an essential character, badass, etc ... Who will forge the character of Simon (those who have already seen will understand).
The Mecha universe So yes there are mechas and besides the author does not hesitate to show us the magnitude of these robots because at the beginning of season 1 we can see a mecha exceeding the size of all others. Who says robot says combat. Apart from the last of the last battles we can say that those of season 1 happens quickly and without great difficulty.
Always bigger and more powerful, the power of the spiral knows no limits and will help Simon to surpass himself and to show attacks ever more imposing.
Season 1 For me, it is the season that has most marked me because as usual, we get to know the environment in which the characters evolve. The underground, the desert, it's quite hostile but good it's the story that wants this. In the end the format of each season is short, which often precipitates the fighting, much like the arc 1 of Sword Art Online. This is where we discover and get used to the "Do The impossible, see The invisible ROW ROW fight the powa".
Season 2 Following a prophecy of the ancient king, we will find new battles of mecha. Fewer fights but a big one in the end. What I appreciated was the relationship with our civilization and the human nature that takes back its rights. As a reminder, in season 1 humans live underground and try to survive as well as possible.
But then, season 2 shows us decadent humans and complaining about paying too much tax or not having any such privilege. Do not hesitate to deny their past heroes because they feel in danger individually. In short, a lot of truth about human nature and an end which in the end is rather sad but I will say no more
My conclusion
I do not hide that I love the side of this anime that is summed up by a "BUT FOR WHO YOU JUST TAKE" and ended up with giga mega explosion of death that kills on a music more than trainer. In fact this anime is a thousand power exaggeration so we love or do not like. For my part, I have more adored because I had unplugged my brain at the entrance. The scenario is rather repetitive even though season 1 is experiencing a strong rebound and season 2 is a bit more worked.
