Inspired by the 1968 novel "Do Androids dream of electric sheep?" Blade Runner is a 1982 film starring Harrison Ford and directed by acclaimed director Ridley Scott, mainly recognized for the film "Alíen."
Blade Runner is a film that awakens many thoughts in me, and after a first visionary it is perhaps one of the films that has cost me the most to review here at Hive.
First of all, the timing is more or less adequate, with the recent release of the video game Cyberpunk 2077, and a sequel to Blade Runner itself in 2017 called Blade Runner 2049, maybe the work is more relevant than ever. It is not for little, many consider it the father of the cyberpunk and ahead of its time with respect to the description of a technologically advanced but at the same time extremely decadent future.
A plot that could be classified as complex tells us about a dystopian future, which mixes the world we live in with elements that make it almost unrecognizable. Located in 2019 (let's remember its release date) in a fictional version of Los Angeles, we are presented with the concept of "The replicants", artificial humans created to do exclavizing jobs, later, these replicas rebel, making it necessary to create a special police patrol "The blade runners" that is responsible for identifying and exterminating them.
With this brief description I am ignoring hundreds of important details that make the lore of the film extremely dense, but in the end, this is nothing more than a story that makes us rethink our own existence and that hides hundreds of deep philosophical questions, all wrapped in an action cover.
Not only that, Blade Runner is visually stunning, beautiful, and painful in almost equal amounts. There are countless shots that he presents that seem like pieces of art from a futuristic artistic movement, which appeals to our defects as a human race and leaves us in a pessimistic tone.
Although its plot is brilliant, well written and well acted, the real appeal of the film for me lies in its visual presentation, which is consistently hypnotic.
Of course, having lived the year 2019 raw, we know that the reality was very different from the film depiction, I cannot help but think about how deeply correct certain “predictions” are if we get a little cynical about it and analyze it from the right perspective . And like everything it has an almost prophetic energy.
Anyone who faces the film blindly could misunderstand what it is about, taking into account the futuristic visual style and the presence of Harrison Ford (one of the biggest stars of his time) could make us believe that we will see a typical action film, and not we could be more wrong.
For those movie fans it is a must watch, a historical film that marked a before and after, and although it is a bit disconcerting for those more careless viewers, Blade Runner is a dense, deep, and visually beautiful work that will always be worth it.

Blade Runner es una película que despierta muchos pensamientos en mi, y luego de un primer visionario después de tantos años es quizá una de las películas que más me ha costado reseñar aquí en Hive.
En primer lugar, el timing es más o menos adecuado, con el reciente estreno del videojuego Cyberpunk 2077, y una secuela de la propia Blade Runner en 2017 llamada Blade Runner 2049 quizá la obra es más relevante que nunca. No es para poco, muchos la consideran el padre del cyberpunk y adelantada a su época respecto a la descripción de un futuro avanzado tecnológicamente pero a la vez extremadamente decadente.
La trama que podría catalogarse como compleja nos habla de un futuro distópico, que mezcla el mundo que vivimos con elementos que lo hacen casi irreconocible. Ubicada en 2019 (recordemos su fecha de estreno) en una versión ficticia de Los Ángeles, se nos presenta el concepto de “Los replicants”, humanos artificiales creados para hacer trabajos exclavizantes, posteriormente, estas réplicas se rebelan, haciendo necesaria la creación de una patrulla policial especial “Los blade runners” que se encarga de identificarlos y exterminarlos.
Con esta breve descripción me estoy comiendo cientos de detalles importantes que hacen del lore de la cinta uno extremadamente denso, pero al final, esta no es más que una historia que nos hace replantear nuestra propia existencia y que esconde cientos de profundas preguntas filosóficas, todo envuelto en una cubierta de acción.
No solo eso, Blade Runner es visualmente impactante, hermosa y dolorosa en cantidades casi iguales. Son innumerables las tomas que presenta que parecen piezas de arte de un movimiento artístico futurista, que apela a nuestros defectos como raza humana y que nos depara en un tono pesimista.
Aunque su trama es brillante, esta bien escrita y actuada, el verdadero atractivo de la cinta para mi radica en su presentación visual, la cual resulta hipnótica de forma consistente.
Aunque habiendo vivido el año 2019 en carne viva sabemos que la realidad fue muy distinta a la cinta, no puedo dejar de pensar en lo profundamente acertadas que resultan ciertas “predicciones” si nos ponemos un poco cínicos al respecto y lo analizamos desde la perspectiva correcta. Y como todo tiene una energía casi profética.
Aquel que enfrente la película a ciegas podría malinterpretar de que va, tomando en cuenta el estilo visual futurista y la presencia de Harrison Ford (Una de las estrellas más grandes de su momento) podría hacernos creer que veremos una típica cinta de acción, y no podríamos estar más equivocados.
Para aquellos fanaticos del cine es un must watch, una cinta histórica que marcó un antes y un después, y aunque sea un poco desconcertante para aquellos espectadores más descuidados, Blade Runner es una obra densa, profunda, y hermosa visualmente que siempre valdrá la pena.
