Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (2022) review: The best DB movie ever made.

Although Dragon Ball has been quite present in recent years in the form of movies, video games and even new chapters for their respective anime and manga, it is not extremist at all to recognize that a good portion of these products are of dubious quality and this itself can go down. our expectations considerably when we see that Akira Toriyama is working on a new extension to this iconic work.

"Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" is a paradigm shift in this philosophy that we are very grateful for, not only because it seems to me that it is a film with a lot of quality on its own, but also because in a certain way it can be in charge of revitalizing the passion that many of us felt for the entire franchise.

Presented as a sequel to Dragon Ball Super: Broly, "Super Hero" is a film capable of making us reconnect with the most striking elements of the franchise, taking advantage of its own lore in a way that ends up feeling organic without falling into the predictable.

While The Battle of Gods, The Resurrection of F, and Broly had received worldwide theatrical releases, "Super Hero" exists on a much higher technical and artistic level and is evident from its opening minutes.

Utilizing 3D as its primary form of animation, something that may well be disconcerting at first but soon gives way to one of the most beautiful depictions of Dragon Ball created in basically any medium, the battles are on a spectacular scale and the Each character's abilities are used to the fullest, the settings are colorful and diverse, etc.

This does not mean that the narrative aspect has been neglected, quite the contrary, this is probably one of the forms of media that has most known how to take advantage of the presence of the Z warriors, starting with the brilliant decision to make the usual protagonists (Goku and Vegeta) take a secondary role, while more importance is given to other characters who undoubtedly required it, in this way we have an adventure where the real challenge will correspond to Piccolo and Gohan, two warriors with a lot of potential who historically they had been largely ignored.

Obviously there is room for fan service, there will be constant transformations and the nods to the past lived in Z are inevitable, but at all times they know how to coexist with an intelligent plot, which manages to excite, frustrate and make you laugh without much trouble.

For me Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is a point of reconnection with the essence of a franchise that sometimes seems to be an empty corpse of its former self, silly and entertaining enough to make the most recent fans of the story consume it. , but rooted enough in the past that its true Target is much more long-lived, they (we) are sure to love it.

Aunque Dragon Ball ha estado bastante presente estos últimos años bajo la forma de películas, videojuegos e incluso nuevos capitulos para su respectivo anime y manga, no es para nada extremista reconocer que una buena porción de estos productos son de calidad dudosa y esto mismo puede bajar nuestras expectativas considerablemente cuando vemos que Akira Toriyama está trabajando en una nueva extensión a esta icónica obra.

"Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" es un cambio de paradigma a esta filosofía que agradecemos bastante, no solo porque a mí parecer es una película con muchísima calidad por si sola, sino porque en cierta forma puede encargarse de revitalizar la pasión que muchos sentíamos por toda la franquicia.

Presentado como una secuela a Dragon Ball Super: Broly, "Super Hero" es una película capaz de hacernos reconectar con los elementos más llamativos de la franquicia, aprovechando su propio lore en una forma que termina sintiéndose orgánica sin caer en lo predecible.

Si bien La Batalla de los Dioses, The resurrection of F y Broly habían recibido lanzamientos teatrales a nivel mundial, "Super Hero" existe en un nivel técnico y artístico muy superior y desde sus primeros minutos es evidente.

Utilizando como forma de animación primaria el 3D, algo que bien podrían resultar desconcertante al principio pero que pronto va dando paso a una de las representaciones más hermosas de Dragon Ball que se han creado en básicamente cualquier medio, las batallas tienen una escala espectacular y las habilidades de casa personaje se aprovechan al máximo, los escenarios son coloridos y diversos, etc.

Esto no quiere decir que el aspecto narrativo se haya descuidado, todo lo contrario, esta probablemente sea una de las formas de media que más ha sabido aprovechar la presencia de los guerreros Z, empezando por la brillante decisión de hacer que los protagonistas usuales (Goku y Vegeta) tomen un rol secundario, mientras que se le da más importancia a otros personajes que sin duda lo requerían, de esta forma tenemos una aventura en dónde el verdadero desafío le corresponderá a Piccolo y Gohan, dos guerreros que con muchísimo potencial que históricamente habían Sido bastante ignorados.

Obviamente hay espacio para el fan service, habrán transformaciones constantes y los guiños al pasado vivido en Z son inevitables, pero en todo momento saben coexistir con una trama inteligente, que logra emocionarte, frustrar y hacerte reír sin muchos problemas.

Para mí Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero es un punto de reconexión con la esencia de una franquicia que a veces pareciera ser un cadáver vacío de su antiguo ser, lo suficientemente tonta y entretenida como para hacer que los fans más recientes de la historia puedan consumirla, pero lo suficientemente arraigada en el pasado como para que su verdadero Target sea mucho más longevo, a ellos (nosotros) estoy seguro de que les encantará.
