On January 3, 2006, a branch of Banco Río located in Acusso - Argentina was attacked by a group of thieves who ended up pocketing 19 million dollars and eighty kilos in pure jewelry. Due to the unusual characteristics where it happened, countless books, articles and analyzes of the event have been written, which is already burned into the collective memory of the Argentine people, and now we have a movie.
In short, El Robo del Siglo is an approximation to american heist movies, a genre loaded with effect and superficiality that is enjoyed too much, with simple arguments but a complex execution, the question is, Can it be up to the task? As a short answer we will say yes.
It is not a film that is limited to imitating what is seen in classics such as Ocean's 11, or more recent projects such as La Casa de Papel series, it has its own identity, which draws a lot from the Argentine culture where it was born. Based on real events, it is nice to see a film with such an artistic approach that could have been yet another generic adventure on a mountain where they already abound.
El Robo del Siglo almost surgically selects what to show us and what not (staying true to the crazy real-life events that inspired it), with a rhythm that may remind us of an Edward Wright, Ariel Winograd achieves a fun but meaty cinema , where yes, style triumphs over substance, but one thing is not totally sacrificed over the other. With atypical profiles, to say the least, the group of criminals who carried out this robbery was quite picturesque, the absence of violence and the use of "fake" explosives stand out, strongly touching public opinion.
It's great that she doesn't take herself so seriously, that she understands that chaos is part of human nature and doing everything very neat ends up feeling too synthetic. The Heist of the Century approaches the events with a rather subjective vision, without spending time in absurd moralisms that could distract from the main plot, does not look for great teaching or reflection and never pretends that it is so.
It is difficult to find a fault with a film that embraces its own style so well, measuring its desires and ambitions.
The music, photography, performances, script, and overall rhythm are very well measured.
El Robo del Siglo is extremely correct and recommended.

El 3 de enero de 2006 una sucursal del Banco Río ubicada en Acusso - Argentina fue asaltada por un grupo de ladrones que terminó embolsándose 19 millones de dolares y ochenta kilos en puras joyas. Debido a las características insólitas en donde ocurrió, se han escrito incontables libros, artículos y análisis del evento, que ya anda grabado a fuego en la memoria colectiva del pueblo argentino, y ahora tenemos una película.
De manera resumida, El Robo del Siglo es una aproximación a las heist movies anglosajonas, un género cargado de efectismo y superficialidad que se disfruta demasiado, con argumentos simples pero una ejecución compleja, la pregunta es, ¿Logra estar a la altura? Como respuesta corta diremos que si.
No es una película que se limite a imitar lo visto en clásicos como Ocean's 11, u proyectos más recientes como La serie de La Casa de Papel, tiene una identidad propia, que bebe mucho de la cultura argentina en donde nació. Basada en hechos reales, es agradable ver con un acercamiento tan artístico una cinta que pudo haber sido otra aventura genérica más en una montaña en donde abundan ya.
El Robo del Siglo selecciona casi quirúrgica-mente que nos muestra y que no (manteniéndose fiel a los alocados eventos de la vida real que la inspiraron), con un ritmo que puede recordarnos a un Edward Wright, Ariel Winograd logra un cine divertido pero sustanciosos, en donde si, triunfa el estilo sobre la sustancia, pero no se sacrifica totalmente una cosa sobre la otra. Con perfiles atípicos, por no decir menos, el grupo que delincuentes que ejecutó este atraco era bastante pintoresco, se destaca la ausencia de violencia y el uso de explosivos "falsos", tocando fuertemente la opinión pública.
Es genial que no se tome a su misma tan seria, que entienda que el caos es parte de la naturaleza humana y hacer todo muy pulcro termina sintiéndose demasiado sintético. El Robo del Siglo aborda los eventos con una visión bastante subjetiva, sin gastar tiempo en moralismos absurdos que podrían distraer de la trama principal, no se busca gran enseñanza o reflexión y nunca finge que sea así.
Es difícil encontrar una pega a un film que abraza tan bien su propio estilo, midiendo sus deseos y ambiciones.
La música, la fotografía, las actuaciones, el guion y el ritmo general están muy bien medidos.
El Robo del Siglo es extremadamente correcta, recomendada.
