I started to watch Falcon and The Winter Soldier with a bit of doubts, indeed, although I know that Marvel Studios does not fail and it is probably a very good series produced, written and acted, I do not find myself in a moment of my life where I feel as much interest in the MCU as before, unless it involves one of my favorite characters.
However, I decided to give this series a try, and well, after two chapters that I hope will soon become more, I bring some thoughts about it.
Falcon to The Winder Soldier (or FATWS, as I'll say for short) is a series that seems willing to spend time on problems the MCU didn't have time for and I'm grateful for that, although Bucky and Falcon especially weren't very developed characters. on the big screen, their backgrounds give us to create a quite interesting story that reinforces our ties with them.
Bucky, for example, has a murky past, and FATWS plays a lot with the problems that his until then apparent redemption entails, he is haunted by the ghosts of his past, and although he progressively became "one of the good ones", this does not retroactively change the horrible things you did. Falcon, on the other hand, serves as the focus of a lot of social criticism that is a bit unusual for Marvel but which is very well received here, racism, financial problems that seem to be wiping out the American middle class, among other things, that Not to mention the narrative cornerstone on which the entire Show is built, will Falcon take up the mantle of Captain America?
One of the final scenes of Endgame would already let us see how reluctant Sam was to take the mantle of Steve as Captain America, and it is nice to see that in FATWS they not only deal with this subject, but they take him to very curious places, creating conflicts that are easy on us as spectators.
The arrival of John Walker is of course more sour than sweet, and is too effective for the point that wants to develop the series. Hated almost irrationally, it's hard not to feel there's something wrong with this new captain, we just don't know who he is yet.
Speaking in a more objective way, FATWS is a very correct series, it is quite well directed, it has quality special effects and a decent rhythm. I can't say that it feels particularly unique or different in its rhythm and playing, rather it feels a bit generic.
This of course does not eliminate the fact that he is a welcome addition to the MCU, and I will continue to watch his episodes with interest. We could hardly speak of lost potential in Falcon and The Winter Soldier when they apparently did what they could with a good concept.

Empecé a ver Falcon and The Winter Soldier con un poco de dudas, efectivamente, aunque sé que Marvel Studios no falla y probablemente se trate de una serie muy buen producida, escrita y actuada, no me encuentro en un momento de mi vida en donde sienta tanto interés por el MCU como antes, a menos de que envuelva a alguno de mis personajes favoritos.
No obstante, decidí darle una oportunidad a esta serie, y bueno, tras dos capítulos que espero que pronto se conviertan en más, traigo algunos pensamientos al respecto.
Falcon a The Winder Soldier (o FATWS, como le diré para abreviar) es una serie que parece dispuesta a dedicarle tiempo a problemas para los que el MCU no tenia tiempo y estoy agradecido con ello, aunque Bucky y Falcon especialmente no fueron personajes muy desarrollados en la gran pantalla, sus trasfondos dan para crear una historia bastante interesante que refuerce nuestros vínculos con ellos.
Bucky, por ejemplo, tiene un pasado turbio, y FATWS juega bastante con los problemas que conlleva su hasta entonces aparente redención, se ve atormentado por los fantasmas de su pasado, y aunque progresivamente se convirtió en "uno de los buenos", esto no cambia retroactivamente las cosas horribles que hizo. Falcon, por otro lado, sirve como foco de una gran cantidad de criticas sociales un poco inusuales para Marvel pero que aquí se reciben muy bien, el racismo, los problemas financieros que parecen estar acabando con la clase media americana, entre otras cosas, eso sin mencionar la piedra angular narrativa sobre la cual se forma todo el Show, ¿Falcon tomará el manto del Capitan América?
Una de las escenas finales de Endgame ya nos dejaría ver lo reticente que estaba Sam para tomar el manto de Steve como Capitan América, y es agradable ver que en FATWS no solo tratan este tema, sino que lo llevan a lugares muy curiosos, creando conflictos que calan fácil en nosotros como espectadores.
La llegada de John Walker es por supuesto más agria que dulce, y resulta demasiado efectiva para el punto que quiere desarrollar la serie. Odiado de manera casi irracional, es dificil no sentir que hay algo malo con este nuevo capitán, solo que aún no sabemos que es.
Ya hablando de forma un poco más objetivo FATWS es una serie muy correcta, esta bastante bien dirigida, cuenta con efectos especiales de calidad y un ritmo decente. No puedo decir que se siente particularmente única o diferente en su ritmo y ejecución, más bien resulta un poco genérica.
Esto por supuesto no elimina el hecho de que es una agradable adición al MCU, y seguiré viendo sus episodios con interés. Difícilmente podríamos hablar de potencial perdido en Falcon and The Winter Soldier cuando aparentemente hicieron lo que podían con un buen concepto.
