Although in superficial terms Fun With Dick and Jane may feel like one more typical Jim Carrey comedy for the list, it is a work that, after understanding its very funny and uninhibited premise, hides in its entrails a much more intelligent social criticism than what would be expected.

It is a remake of a 1977 film, while in this case we follow the story of Dick, an executive in a large company who sees his life shattered when the company goes bankrupt, losing all his life savings, if we consider that he had them invested in her. In the midst of desperation he decides to start a life of crime with his wife, claiming that following the rules has never resulted in anything positive for him and he must fight to maintain his luxurious lifestyle.

What is presented as a rather bitter synopsis is executed with a masterful humor, which quite loudly criticizes the capitalist society that characterized us at the beginning of the millennium, reducing the American dream to an executive fantasy where the path to happiness it was only obtained through economic stability, comfort and material goods.

The wonderful thing about Fun With Dick and Jane is that unlike other films approaches to the same anarchic themes (I put The Matrix or Fight Club as prominent examples from around the same time), the Dean Parisot-directed film doesn't spend much time on educate us in hypocritical ways, but it knows how to place us in the position of its protagonists: human beings with virtues and defects, who make questionable but understandable decisions from their perspective.

It is a chaotic and uninhibited comedy, where Jim Carrey and Téa Leoni dominate each scene and take us on a pleasant journey with a couple of very interesting messages, regardless of whether we align with them or not. It is not a work that seeks to reinvent the wheel, but honestly it has never tried to do so.

A funny movie. Wowo , you reminded me of Tea Leoni, how cute she was, I haven't heard anything else about that actress, I'm going to google what became of her life.

The best way to get a message across or to open the eyes may well be in this way through a movie like this, where one can laugh at the system of which few make a living.
