I am relatively new to Hive so I am quite excited to have my first Christmas on the platform, I feel that it has been a unique opportunity to review several films with a Christmas theme, both classics and slightly more modern films.
Home Alone (O mi Pobre Angelito, as it was known in Latin America) is perhaps one of the most important Christmas movie series that exist, as well as one of the most interesting to analyze ... why? Because it manages to synthesize in its few 3 installments all the positive and negative that this type of films have to offer, let's talk about it step by step.

With a premise as simple as it is, Home Alone quickly rose as a Christmas classic, a film that gathered in its guts a simple but effective message about the value of family and how in the midst of our selfishness and anger we can forget its own importance. .
If I had to split Home Alone and take the highlights I would definitely focus on Culkin's great performance, Columbus's beautiful direction and how he interacts with the brilliant music of John Williams.

Of course, by following the formula to the letter, Home Alone 2 leaves little to say, being honest from time to time it has to do a lot of stunts to justify its own arguments and conflicts but it manages to come out well by brimming with charisma.

These elements that could start to tire in the second installment begin to fade, leaving us with a project that on the one hand is more risky but on the other hand includes a lot of ideas that land badly.
Perhaps the most painful of all this transition is the absence of Culkin, this time being replaced by Alex D. Linz. Poor Alex had some very big shoes to fill and he can't do it ... It doesn't contribute to any of this that Chris Columbus himself has not directed again, nor that Williams has abandoned the direction of music, Home Alone 3 ends up feeling like a expendable, disposable work, without the intention of being recorded in the collective conscience and sunk in its own mediocrity.

Soy relativamente nuevo en Hive así que me emociona bastante tener mi primera navidad en la plataforma, siento que ha sido una oportunidad única para reseñar varias películas con una temática navideña, tanto clásicos como cintas un poco más modernas.
Home Alone (O mi Pobre Angelito, como se conoció en Latino America) es quizá una de las series de películas navideñas mas importantes que existen, así como una de las que es mas interesante analizar… ¿por qué? Porque logra sintetizar en sus escasas 3 entregas todo lo positivo y lo negativo que este tipo de films tienen para ofrecer, pare vamos paso a paso.

Con una premisa tan simple cómo está Home Alone se levantó rápidamente como un clásico de navidad, una película que reunía en sus entrañas un mensaje simple pero eficaz sobre el valor de la familia y como en medio de nuestro egoísmo y rabia podemos olvidar su propia importancia.
Si tuviese que fraccionar Home Alone y tomar las partes más destacables sin duda me enfocaría en la genial actuación de Culkin, la hermosa dirección de Columbus y el cómo interactúa con la brillante música de John Williams.

Dentro de una presentación tan atractiva y divertida, en donde la comedia slapstick y los gags son constantes, tenemos reflexiones sorprendentemente profundas que le dan a Home Alone una energía atemporal difícil de derrumbar, entonces ¿Hacia falta una secuela?
Bueno, si le preguntamos a FOX la respuesta corta es que si, una respuesta que nos ha costado una secuela maravillosa y otra desastrosa.

Por supuesto, al seguir la fórmula al pie de la letra Home Alone 2 deja poco de que hablar, siendo honestos de vez en cuando tiene que hacer un montón de acrobacias para justificar sus propios argumentos y conflictos pero logra salir bien parada al rebosar de carisma.

Estos elementos que podían empezar a cansar en la segunda entrega empiezan a desvanecerse, dejándonos con un proyecto que por un lado es más arriesgado pero por otro lado comprende un montón de ideas que aterrizan mal.
Quizá lo más doloroso de toda esta transición sea la ausencia de Culkin, siendo esta vez remplazado por Alex D. Linz. El pobre Alex tenía unos zapatos muy grandes que llenar y no logra hacerlo… no contribuye a nada de esto que el propio Chris Columbus no haya vuelto a dirigir, ni que Williams haya abandonado la dirección de la música, Home Alone 3 termina sintiéndose como una obra fungible, desechable, sin ánimos de quedar grabada en la conciencia colectiva y hundida en su propia mediocridad.

Las primeras dos partes son clásicos absolutos y merecen un visionado obligatorio cada navidad, la tercera en cambio debe ser vista solo para entender todo lo que no debe hacerse en una buena película.
